If Uriah and Betsheba were technically divorced why was David instisting that Uriah go home to his wife to conceal his adultery?
Saying they were “destined” to be together is only an attempt at validating the sinful actions. It’s based on nothing at all. That excuse can be used with every sin.
It also devalues the level of repentance that David had to go though to reach a high level of righteousness. Which is the real lesson.
I LOVE this rabbi❤...I really wish they would post more of his lectures 😢
🇦🇺As a Christian, I find that the story of king David is very fascinating, in one hand is the human side with ferules and on the other hand the love, compassion and the great mercies of forgiveness of the the Almighty God🇦🇺
If Bathsheva was technically divorced then why was she doing a ritual preparation?
The Rabbi is speculating re David and Bathsheba being destined for each other. Is he saying that committing sin is sometimes required to complete the will of God?
Thank you for your teaching!
The mystery of David and Batsheba lies in the names and birth order of their sons.
David (Beloved) and Batsheba (daughter of oath) Listened/heard (Shammua/ Shema) and turned back (Shobab) to God. They were given (Nathan) peace (Solomon/Shalom).
I'am 80 years old and a Christian I could not tell you how many sermons I've listened to on David and Bathsheb but in my heart I felt something was not right. Thank you Rabbi for the clarification. What a wow movement. May the Lords grace be upon you. By the way my name is David.
😊😊😊❤❤❤...welcome king David jr
As a Christian I love King David👑
I like David but nothing can justify his unjust actions. I think the common characteristic of Christianity and Judaism is that we can criticize and question these important religions figures without fear of retribution. It is my opinion that what David did was unacceptable. It is even bad that he only repented after being caught. But its humbling that he accepted his mistake and repented. He was human. So we can't whitewash him but we must appreciate that to err is human
BREATH taking exposition, I just took a walk even before the speaker asked if we need a walk, this is deep calleth unto deep, i'm sincerely humbled. Appreciate
B"H
Thank you!
I got the message at the most needed time!
G-d is infinitely patient and so should we strive to be! Don't ask for a test, wait, the answer is coming!
And it's never too late to repent, He is just waiting for us to start!
How I love God's word being shared in such a peaceful manner...oh thank you ,we indeed learn alot from King David
How Great and Merciful God we serve!
Brilliant biblical presentation! Been thinking a lot too about David's misdemeanor and you have explained it so amazingly why it happened. Thank you so much. ❤🙏🇵🇭
I do love to hear the wisdom of Rabbi's, though I am Christian. These are men who have been scholars of the Word of God and possess great wisdom. Shalom Rabbi.
תודה רבה ❤
Notwithstanding the fact, that as a Jewish rabbi, I would assume you do not accept Yashua as Messiah, nevertheless, for us Christians, we look at your teaching with the same awe and respect that you give it, and we say that even through such a dark time that David went through, nevertheless, through that bloodline came Messiah. It’s a beautiful concept whether you accept Yashua as Messiah or not. ❤
He was a man after God's heart.
rabbi great job putting a complicated issue with a clear explantion
The first son David had with Bathsheba died Solomon was their second son
The jewish have a wisdom and honesty about life. I am intrigued.
What a wonderful teaching by a Jewish Rabbi. I believe in Jesus & I thank God for this teaching from the Torah
Rabbi,
I am a Messianic believer in Hashem & Yeshua in support of One For Israel, Rabbi Sneider, etc and I am Torah/Tenach observant and honor all the laws and teachings of Hashem, Almighty God
Excellent teaching Rabbi, very deep, layered, and dissected profoundly
So clear, simple and based on truth, from the heart
Powerful message
David is one of my childhood heroes. To the above said explanation by Rabbi, I am grateful. I am happy that David didn't justify himself though he had the technical reasoning to do so. One of the things I would like to offer as a counter is that the punishment of the sin was on the first child that David and Bathsheba had. So Solomon cannot be called illegitimate as suggested.
Thank you, Rabbi. Such a wonderful teaching ❤️
Thanks, Rabbai, for a gorgeous telling of the story and a deep examination.
So much better than the prayer breakfast notion - based on the same story - that Great Leader, appointed by God has different rules and should be served no matter his perversities.
Sweet how the commentaries reveal the same truth Marcus Aurelius spotted … that "No man is, in his own heart, a villain."
And atonement is indeed archetypal on the path. The Tibetan Milarepa went from burning a village in revenge to the highest attainments, fuelled by his need for huge atonement.
I'll stop there in case any of my students find out that I comment on YT … and start wondering to what extent atonement may have been a motivator for me ;)
About four years ago I found myself on a spiritual plateau - not growing much, I thought. So I asked God for a test! Hmm . . . I will NEVER do that again!
Thank you Rabbi for this great teaching on my favourite David. I feel much better now! God bless!
Thank you Rabbi. I’m a Christian and we don’t generally have teachings about the books in the Christian Bible. I’m finding that if I want to understand books of the Tanak and the other books of the Jewish Bible seek a Rabbi. Today I find another. I always wondered about David and the Commandments. No more.
Great listening to this story from a Jewish scholar perspective
Beautiful explanation of this story. Thank you, Rabbi, from NC, USA. Baruch Hashem.
What happens to Uriah how did God be just to him ?
What happens if Uriah refuses to forgive King David can God forgive david. Then what happens to justice to Uriah?
Would he have taken responsibility if he was not confronted by the prophet ?
I still think it was shamefully wrong of David to do what he did 😡
Thanks! I’m glad l a paid you tube subscriber!
Thank you Rabbi, for discussing, probe in detail the story of King David, humility lesson, we got the same story in Catholic faith old testament. God bless.
חזק וברוך ברוך תחיה כל הכבוד
This was very elucidating! It has given me a greater perspective on something that has always perplexed me.
Thank you for this presentation, it helps me a lot to clear the dark cloud.
Thank you for this, Rabbi. Baruch HaShem...
This is so interesting. Thank you for sharing, rabbi. I am so in awe of the nuanced and researched interpretation of this story that you have presented.
It took a lot of courage for Nathan to confront David. David could have reacted quite differently and continued to cover up. Thankfully David chose to confess and repent.
Thank you.
Thank you for sharing
Man always makes an excuse when there isn't one... To try justify taking what man wants '...
In our hearts we know if our intentions to our actions were Godly...
Hence David repenting
And hence God taking his firstborn...
A profound spiritual lecture on agency...and power of repentance...."#recovering from failure....that's when growth kicks in".....
What a fascinating teaching that can be directed to all people on Earth. Deeply spiritual, from his changed by God heart. What a wonderful person he is! No one can speak like that if his life has not been deeply transformed.
The best analogy I've ever heard thank you rabbi chaim block.
Saved by a technicality?Embarrassingly tortured explanation. Modern scholars have a more plausible explanation. David wasn’t as righteous as Jewish tradition would have us believe, and Jewish practice was different in David’s time from what it became after the temples were destroyed.
Thanks for sharing!
Powerful
Brilliant! Loved the analysis of this portion of scripture
Thank you dear Rabbi! Amazing Shiur!!!!!
David was atill WRONG for this.. Can't whitewash this is ANY way.. Simething being .Technically and LEGALLY right doesnt make it righteous. Lets learn from David's error and appreciate him flaws and all without reframing his shortcomings.
Wonderful 👏👏👏👏
What would David axhieve if Uriyah wohld have gone home form the battle field? His wife was pregnant by David and if Urya wohldhave gone home, he would remarry her while being pregnant by David, thinking she is pregnant by him???
Thank you so much. P.S. Essential to read by the Christians.
Thanks
Rabbi, are the events and lessons here comparable to Yehudah and Tamar, where on the surface it looks puzzling and out of character, much like David and Batsheva?
Why do I never hear a sermon on Tamar and Amnon?
Wow ! Wonderful! Glory to God!
From burkina faso 🇧🇫 🇧🇫 🇧🇫 🇧🇫 🇧🇫 🇧🇫 🇧🇫
Yashar koach!
thnx alot Rabbi what an amazing explanation,i learn alot from u 🌺but still he sinned by kills him and sleeping with her without marriage plus multiple marriages and how that effects the family .
Thanks!
Also because he had a lot of blood on his hands. Lots of wars.
Good thoughts.
Based on the story committing a sin is not a curse. Out of that terrible sin committed by David came the birth of the wisest man that ever lived. Good can and often comes out of bad. What is the lesson here?
Same admission came from Yehuda in his case with Tamar.
your a great speaker rabbi
Amazing lecture. Thank you!
Profound. Thank you
True
When we are in Love with someone, we do, say, and think everything to justify our Love.
This sermon is a perfect example, how the Jewish have always loved God and king David unconditionally. 😂🎉😂🎉🎉😂.
David committed crime God forgave him. And we don't understand it, period! Simple and clear.
Excellent lecture! Thank you!
Shalom my favorite family ❤🎉🎉🎉
Before God, the greatness of a leader is defined by his degree of humility.
❤❤❤❤
Amen! God bless Israel! Shalom!🙏👑🌈
❤
From reading the whole Nach you must say even in Pshat that he didn't sin, there are so many stories before showing David's self control and after this stories there are verses saying how righteous he was, so from reading the Bible itself you know that it's not as simple the story, but the reason why the prophets wrote it this way is because they wanted you to understand why God punished David for it and also to show that on his level this was a sin for him.
As a Christian I found it plainly obvious that what made King David a man after God's own heart was his willingness to admit his guilty in humility.
I'm puzzled as the technical divorce laws. Is there anything in the laws of Moses that allowed for such a thing, or was this an evolution of the law?
I appreciate the insights regarding Uriah slighting the King. I had simply assumed that it would have been the common understanding of the time that all were equal before the law of God regardless of status; so Uriah could behave that way simply because Israel had a mandate from God to exterminate neighboring nations. Was I mistaken?
Baruch HASHEM shalom Yisrael 🙏🍄🌹🙏🌹🍄
thank you
Thank you, at least I learn a little about King David most controversial biblical story.
Loved ur teaching
Glad to hear that.

👀👀👀👀👍👍🤝👼👼😅🌩️🕊️🕊️🌡️🌡️🌏🌏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Divine timing would have brought her to him.
This is deep . Paradox story line?
The wisdom of God.
David the Hero of Israel, I like him but man cannot be righteous than God. God allows certain things.
Repent 's all the matter.
