Rescue162 no that's not why the show worked sonny couldn't sing a lick it worked because of the kind of relationship they had and great personality's especially Sonny's personality he was a great guy and was a lot of fun and very caring man and he was brilliant he did all the right things at the right times to put them where they needed to be at the right moment if there was no sonny there would have never been a Cher

She’s was with him since she was 16 they were together for 11 years he was her world back then, Even thou she went on to bigger and bigger and much better things she was devastated !!!! Rightly so poor girl I felt her grief 🌹🌹😎🇦🇺

It was so much fun to watch this show in 1974 knowing that these two were contractually bound to do a TV Show together with a person to which they hated each other's guts. Notice how nasty the jabs are ?

Reading sonny bio was really an eye opener.
He explains that cher despite the true success of sonny and cher really never wanted that... she was always looking to get into rock in roll and being a rock star.
Sonny just didn't have the clout nor that hard aggressive nature to propeller in that direction.
She did change a lot on e she started seeing David geffen... he was able to springboard her and produce her records. He had a lot of power... sonny, despite his genuis of writing songs creating sonny and cher as a concept and producing just didn't have that respect that geffen did.
It took them a long time to communicate again and sonny missed when he could just talk to cher openly.
Might be interesting to get her bio too and compare and contrast those events.

I watched this show when I was a kid, and I watched it because she had a very unusual voice. Her voice and singing was good, but it always sounded as if she was singing from her nose. And I loved her Indian looking hair. Sonny was always peppy and a joy. But, looking back at it today....its ashame how these two downed each other in public. Some may say it was for laughs, but some of these jokes was not jokes. I think he truly loved her.
When I see the name "two of us", only one word come into my mind "Beatles" kkk
