      The colour balance using iPhone gives a wrong result and it only works for non HDR content on regular TV (can’t work with projector)

      @DavidSusiloUnscripted I don't know, but after I did a Colour Balance, my picture quality looks great! From Netflix to Disney+ and everything inbetween. I hardly ever watch regular tv, and don't know much about projectors.

      If it is good enough for you then that’s great. But as a professional calibrator, depending on the display, sometimes it gets slightly too green, or too blue, too magenta etc. i guess it’s brtter than nothing at all but still unfortunately not accurately calibrated

      @DavidSusiloUnscripted Exactly the reason why I'm glad that I'm not an expert/professional.😀 Just as I'm glad I'm not an audiophile. You lot see and hear things that no one else does.😀 And it takes quite a bit of effort to please you guys. Ai! I can't, I just wanna enjoy my Polk Audio speakers and my UHD LG Smart tv, that's all.😀 The picture is a bit warm, but very detailed. That's good enough for me.😀👍

Once i switched to 4k sdr and followed your exact settings. However, i am facing stuttering issues while watching streaming online videos but other apps like netflix , disney and apple tv are working fine . Hi. I have Sony x90h tv, the HDR in the TV is not good, it's darker than SDR. If I buy Apple TV, would it help for better HDR viewing? or it's all about the tv and it won't make a difference?

    • @DavidSusiloUnscripted
      @DavidSusiloUnscripted  Před rokem

      It’s about the TV. HDR is supposed to be darker in most cases than SDR with some movies brighter than SDR. To make your TV better for your HDR viewing you need to get it calibrated.
      Last but not least, HDR does NOT mean brighter. HDR only means improved delta (difference) between the darkest vs the brightest points of a given movie.

    If your having trouble with that handshake blackscreen for 1 or 2 secs. Reset setting to what your atv4k does naturally. I have no handshake issue. Match content & frame rate OFF & 4K HDR with 4.2.0.

    • @DavidSusiloUnscripted
      @DavidSusiloUnscripted  Před rokem +1

      Nooooo. You want match content & frame rate should be on. So it shows the dynamic range and video frame rate in a native form. If you turn it off, all content will forced to have high dynamic range and 60fps. Yes the handshake will be faster? But that’s the wrong settings. You want your content to be viewed as is without unnecessary conversion.

    • @DavidSusiloUnscripted
      @DavidSusiloUnscripted  Před 6 měsíci

      It will always blacks out for several seconds in the beginning of each video if you’re using match content. If you don’t want any black out then you turn off match content, but this way you will have converted video framerate and dynamic range, not native anymore. The problem is caused by HDMI protocol, not your devices. @ANiCKiN

    Hi David, so if “Enable HDR” is on, that forces all content to be HDR (which may not be the best option), is that why you se it to 4K SDR instead and turn On Match content?
    Also, if HDR is supposed to look brighter and better than SDR why does it always look dark and washed? SDR looks so much better. I’ve never understood that.

    • @DavidSusiloUnscripted
      @DavidSusiloUnscripted  Před rokem +2

      Forced HDR will make things brighter. True HDR tend to show more shadow details AND highlight details. Because in reality there are more shadow details than highlights that’s why they tend to look darker.
      If you see the picture to be washed out, then either your TV and/or TV settings that are wrong.

    This is kind of pointless for any TV viewer…
    I just hooked up an AppleTV 4K last night. Basically, setting it to Dolby Vision in the settings makes the menu display in DV, which is fine, and as long as you set it to match content and frame rate, it’ll do exactly that for whatever you’re watching.
    If you DONT set it to match content, yes, it will force everything to display in Dolby Vision at 60fps, which can look off.
    All you have to do is match content and fps while leaving it in DV and you’ll be fine.
    This is absolutely pointless and will just confuse most people…
