Great advice on the water hose, people who clean up after themselves always get invited back. The people who don't, don't understand why they get ghosted. lol
Thanks as always for your concern for the people that are on budgets and just cant afford a new system at this time..! :)
Very nice the way you look out for your customers.👍.
I said it before and I'll say it again, you have to clean the condenser and evaporator. When I started in years ago, I had an old boss instill in me that if you getting funky gauge readings, clean the coil and evaporator. Then you will have a good base line to start from, because 95% of the times a dirty coil with lead your mind to other things. The 1/2 hour spent cleaning the coil will save you time when trouble shooting the unit.
Absolutely stupid!!
Great Video --Love Your HONESTLY
Geez why do people stuff the indoor units in little places like that? What a tough job that would be to replace. Good job helping those people out on their old system 👍
It's not 'people' it's the manufacturing home builders. It's because they don't have to go by many standards as when you're building a home
@@staind288 yes I meant the contractors.
Older manufactured homes did that a lot. Newer ones aren’t so bad at all. Mine was built in 2020 and has a normal carrier down flow furnace in a east access utility closet with lots of room if I decide to upgrade. I’m sure not all manufacturers are the same but something to keep in mind if purchasing a manufactured home
@@anthonyelectric6045
It’s not the contractors they go by a blue print made up by an architect home owner and engineers unless it’s a model home ….. in this case it’s the mobile home manufacturer and it’s cramped liked this to give people more living space plus they only design it the don’t have to do repairs to the system ….
@@FredD63 kinda figured so much. It’s all good till you have to repair it I guess.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Have learned a great deal from your videos.
Great to hear!
You're such a kind and thoughtful person.
Thanks for sharing, at least you know what you are doing.
Additional comment, just to say I really enjoy your videos; making me consider the trade as a second career (if brief; I'm already >62).
I went on a call today they said the unit is blowing warm air in the house I think my compressor is bad I get there it's a 22 year old intertherm ac unit in a double wide was going to hook my gauges up but the suction line was blistering hot and I told the guy hell it's in heat mode let's go to tstat then he tells me yeah I put up a new tstat today but I don't think anything is wrong with it I said yeah something definitely wrong with it but he had it wired right just didn't program it so I got it blowing ac again
Mobile homes. Will never 'do right' until they start putting in returns in most of the rooms
Agreed. Just added return ductwork + return trunk line under mine and added a return in almost every room. Only think that’s good about it was supply and returns can be ran directly off the trunk without adding flex
Hope all goes well at the Doctor. Love your Videos, showing to my son, who's starting his HVAC/R Education.
There is a app, called check charge, that you can check charge by txv or fixed metering device
Why do you need a app ??? Lol 😂
Your all right, been around 31years hvac, had to learn to add the R .thanks to you , showing how he a real Tech. Reclaim .
Being comfortable in your own home, fixing that for people, it’s a very..human thing, a basic need we all have, one could say it’s very noble what you’re doing for people..yeah, you get paid, but I suspect not enough..
Swapped out a 23 year old evaporator coil on a rheem AC the other day, it's phased out here and unavailable. pumped down to vapor into the condenser using the service valves, only needed 2.5 oz of upcycled r22 to bring it back to spec!
Them units are those quick connect. Only thing I don’t like is there’s no pump down valves
Look forward to your video's. AWESOME JOB!!!
Your a class act sir!! I love watching your videos and picking up your tips, and routines.
Keep it up sir!! Your the man!!
You're a good man Curtis.
great video..missed you yesterday
Good job Curtis.
I'm not a tech but I enjoy watching you guys go out on calls so I appreciate these videos. By way of feedback (not criticism), it's a little better for me whenever I get to see the before and after on everything. Like if you can show a flashlight or daylight through the condenser before and then after it's a little more satisfying. And that uF calculation was really cool, but I'd get extra satisfaction if you metered it directly after removing it, and metered the new one before putting it in. And when possible get a quick shot of the cap labels. Again - not sayin you're doing it wrong, just as a viewer that double-check scratches an itch. Just my 2 cents, and thx again for taking us along on the job.
Great work
Nice video keep up the good work. i know how it is when your told you need a new system and dont have the funds for it. just a couple weeks a go our ac unit at our store went down i was told system needs to be replaced its not safe. i have been told for the past 5 years system needs to be replaced well this year it almost happened its a old frigidare unit from 2003 2 ton with a pancake unit. unit went down on monday it had cooled fine the week before i walked into an 80 degree show room we have 2 units one cools half the show room other cools the other half. any how walked into an 80 degree showroom. unit was iced up i shut it down and called repair. the Indoor blower would not run finally they found a broke wire all the time telling me the wiring on the unit is a mess and dosnt seem to be wired correctly he reconnected the wire the unit fan started and then the wire nut started glowing red and smoking. instead of checking the unit he con dimmed it shut it down said its old and unsafe needs replacing. its going to cost 7,000 for a unit i told him i cant afford that can you repair it i was told no.
i almost paid for the unit well the store next me recommended his guy i gave him a call. he came out and said yes the unit wiring is a mess the wires are cracked and melted the transformer wiring is poor but what really caused the issue is the heating element was shorted he quoted me 400 bucks to rewire the unit for cooling only he replaced the transformer a relay and some wiring. the unit is now back up and cooling and freezing people out of my show room there is a 20 degree split and i couldn't be happier i got yet another recommendation to replace the unit. at the cost of a new unit i plan to ride this system for as long as i can. our store has been in this building for 10 years and that system hardly ever gives us any issues.
we had a carrier on the other side that was installed in 2008 2 years before we moved our store into the building that was a new unit that unit back starting 2016 ish was always having problems and in 2019 the compressor blew we put a new ruud on the roof condenser only the unit downstairs in showrrom was 410a compatible it has not had one issue since it was installed.
I have popped the low voltage fuse so many times changing out caps right next to the contactor- so frustrating when the air handler/furnace is in the attic 🙂
82 degrees I would burn up if I put my A/C on that temperature Lol.
Least 75-76 highest is probabaly go
@@beastmonk6351 Well mine get to 70 with no problem cutting on and off all day and night no matter how hot it is outside but it helps too that I get my HVAC system serviced twice a year and change my filter regularly.
Great job
Start budgeting for a new system right after a new one is installed. Much easier than waiting until the current one you have is near death. 10 year budget (120 months) to save up -vs- 1 or 2 years to save up the same amount.
Our old unit was Intertherm; not impressed. Among its problems, it soaked the insulation under the house with a drain leak. Goodman was probably an upgrade after all.
Don't even need a detector to know that coil got about 100 micro leaks
Mobile home air handlers are garbage at filtering whoever installed that cabinet should have put a solid door on the front of that cabinet or seeled of the front of that thing instead of that open grill door on the front of that unit that has absolutely no way to put a filter on it so that poor dude could filter his system properly That cabinet literally has an opening up top for the filter to sit up top of it or a filter plenum to run a duct to a 20x30 grill through the wall above it.
damn that coil dirty af
Sometimes you can keep them going. My MIL's condenser went bad, we put a used one on it, and of course the Evaporator was leaking. We put a can of that stop leak in it, and it is still going five years later. My own system is 16 year old goodman 4 ton and it's a leaker about 3 to 4 lb a year. It's a polished turd at this point. The compressor is drawing too much and sounding a little rough, but still working for now. I'll keep it going as long as I can.
Get a new one. You won’t regret.
You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in Glitter 😎
Texas heat took out my ac, anyone have experience with Carrier, performance line, 17 seer, two speed. I am looking at the Carrier to replace the junk Amana that has a leaking evap coil, second one in 10 years.
Probably you use something acid or thinner the eating your coil
Can you explain the capasatence calculations you did?
I had one guy pay his neighbor to put in a new hp condenser unit but he hooked it to a very old straight AC r22 coil well it didn't last 15 minutes blew the u prices off the end of the coil and what was so bad it had a sticker on it that said r22 only
Why is the filter after the evap coil instead of at the entrance of the return grill? Is that a down draft system?
Downflow unit. Supply duct is in the crawlspace.
You think pulling the evap and cleaning it would’ve gotten any better results ?
I hate that you cannot spray those coil cleaning cans upside down. Sometimes you got to spray it upside down but it won't come out when you do that
Nu Calgon Evap foam has a can that advertises it can be sprayed upside down, I haven't tried it yet but plan on trying it
that suction would have gone up. looks over charged to me with poor air flow condition. what was indoor temp delta? guessing high. that filter looked smoked too. return grill as dirty as everything else possible too? just added the field piece wireless manometers to my tool kit. they are fun. you must try if you have not. did you just calculate MF on the cap with running voltage???! how do you do that???
Can leaks on those coils not be fixed because of all the fins?
This being a double wide trailer there is no room.
What do you use to clean the coil if there’s no hose connector outside the house?
Get you a pump spray bottle and do the best you can
Piss on it.
👍👍👀
Why don't you use a cleaner to clean the condenser unit.
Because water works just as well. Evap Cleaner works better for inside because of the confined space and inability to spray water through the coil. They do make foaming cleaner for the outside units but it has a tendancy to weaken the coil so using on an older system isn’t always a good idea
Could you explain a little more for rookies
