    there is no magnet in there.. the pressure from the discharge line pushes the valve inside to each direction

      He was talking about the magnet placed on top and on the bottom of the valve to show movement, since you can't see the actual valve inside shift

      For those that want to fix the ac for the day..tap on the reversing valve witha hammer keyword "tap" this is exactly like what you do with a bad starter on a car you tap it til it works..you live it jumped from orange to red

    Is it common for the seleniod to go out?

      Yes like any other parts. Verify the coil is energize using a flat head screw driver on the top of center of coil and moving the screw driver up and down slowly to see if the coil energize.
      You will get a magnetic pull and If no magnetic pull. Check for power and ohm the wires with the power off.

      Don't clean spine fin coils unless you are 100% sure needs cleaning causing issues and only used water to clean. Automobiles how often the condenser coils gets clean?

      Verify there is power going to the solenoid and the correct refrigerant pressure.

      Check the the solenoid coil for the voltage rating it's stamp on the housing.

      @@scal760No, normally low voltage power. So 24 volts but like his reply check voltage spec on solenoid.
