  • Follow me as we look at the old TempStar 4 ton split R22 AC unit, we troubleshoot to verify the issue, which is that it is a loss of refrigerant again! But it’s a front hand experience on what a system looks like with a bad coil and no refrigerant and how it behaves. Yes I should had used my electronic leak detection device to verify. But once you see the coil you’ll understand.

I live in St Pete, Florida and have a 1.5 Ton system for my 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 680 sq ft Condo. They want 10K to 13K to replace my NCPE through the wall condensing unit, indoor evaporator coil, and gas furnace. I think that's ridiculous but yours is a 3-ton system.

Thanks for the input. That does sound high for a small tonnage, but I’m not as familiar with business down there or that type of unit. Unless it’s a gas package unit you’re talking about? That one I worked on is actually a 4 ton come to find out. Thanks for the response!
