  • There is a hidden menu to calibrate the thermal image position so it lines up with your night vision. This works with both the 640 and 384 resolutions versions. In this video I show you a Jerry C (C5 640 resolution) that has on board power and the second clip is of a Jerry C (CE2 384 resolution) aka Clip1 and what the hidden menu looks like.
Step 1: Position the Jerry C so it is at the 9 o'clock position of your night vision device and turn it on.
Step 2: Press and hold the rear button to bring up the normal menu.
Step 3. Press the brightness dial as a button to select the following options one at at time. Set ROL to 0, Set AUTO to OFF, and select EXIT.
Step 4: Turn the brightness dial to a brightness between 85%-90%
Step 5: press and hold the rear button to bring up the hidden menu of arrows.
Step 6: Press the brightness dial button to highlight an arrow. The arrow shows you the direction the thermal image will shift. Once you select the direction you want to move the arrow, press the rear button repeatedly until the image is where you want it. Repeat for other directions.
Step 7: Press the brightness dial button until you select Exit.
Step 8: Press the rear button and hold to exit and save your changes.

In your opinion, whats the best thing for a citizen who wants thermal to do:
    1. Wait for true fusion units to be cheaper
    2. Buy an ecoti or similar
    3. Thermal neckworn monocular
    4. Some other system
I think it would be best to attach a small thermal monocular to one of your rotatable nv binos using some 3d printed mount, where you could rotate one of the tubes up and now on that side you see thermal. Why monocular? Because they often have much better viewing especially at distance than something like an ecoti. What are your thoughts? The infiray thermals are very impressive and some possibly small enough to work.

You should really narrow your search to the activity you want to do. Get gear specific for your goal. Hunting vs self defense. Realistically you won’t need thermal for self defense. Unless you are defending your home from another country invading you.
Detecting a person is different than an animal. I prefer a small monocular for scanning. Or bridging thermal with a night vision monocular for hunting. Skeetir and a NV monocular is my favorite setup. The biggest advantage is having a small germanium magnifier to help ID a potential target. COTIs are great for detecting things with night vision but their resolution isn’t great even the 640 versions compared to a dedicated thermal monocular. So IDing them is hard especially at distance.

Curious if you’ve found any other hidden menu items or settings?
I’d love to find a way to lower brightness while having sensitivity higher if that makes sense?

When I turned the menu to right side up now my thermal images are upside down. Will this menu fix that or is this a more complicated bug?

It shouldn’t. That is the rotation option. Check you don’t have clip vs hold options set.

@@Solscud007 I can't get off hold unless the display is upside down. Then I can go to clip. Can't adjust contrast either in full thermal mode.
