Just started following this channel today. first day, so far so good! In my twenties I lived in Taiwan for a couple of years and saw so many “older people” doing this in the park every morning and thought it looked beutiful but also odd. Now I’m 60 and the idea of of learning to move so gracefully (and keep moving) so so appealing. I’m looking forward to the next 99 days!

A few years ago I started the practice of meditation. In college, I took an Intro to Tai Chi & Chi Quiong. I really enjoyed learning some of the movements. Fast forward over ten years later. I now live in MSP and have wanted to practice and really master Tai Chi. It is, however, very costly to take classes. As a single mother, I just haven't been able to afford the classes. I purchased DVD's and illustrated book to try and learn the art but have failed again and again. There has been a silent switch within my soul; my heart has been broken and my free spirit squelched over the last 12 months. The sociopolitical climate is stiffling. I awoke on January 1st and I experienced a deep calming resolution, that seemingly chose me; this is the year I start, in sincerity, and with great intentionality to learn Tai Chi. A modest search on You Tube search brought me to your channel. I am going to start with The 100 days of Tai Chi! What a fabulous way to start my New Year. Thank you, Sir, for being so generous with your time and being willling to share your knowledge and passion with the world. It. Makes. A. Lasting. Difference. Thank you so much!

I struggled to follow other instructional videos as they zipped through the steps too quickly, but the way you break down the feet and hand movements separately and actually specified left or right makes a massive difference. This is the 12th time I attended the Day 1 class. Ok, I learn slowly, although with each viewing there is yet another nugget of information that I missed bc I was focused on something else. It is truly learning in layers. David's teaching quality and information density is high enough that multiple attendance yields yet another point/tip that the student can employ and improve on. It is amazing fun, he is always talking directly to every student. I have quietly nudged forward through to day 11, so I know things are coming. Breath control for example, I cheated and asked a friend who teaches Tai Chi about it. I my case it is hard to leave the house for very long to attend a live school. David is a great alternative.

HOW DO I STOP MY RIGHT HAND FOLLOWING MY LEFT IN THE 'WARD OFF'? IS IT BECAUSE I AM A LEFTY, BUT MY RIGHT ARM IS SLIGHTLY STRONGER? IN THE FANFICTION IT'S BASED ON 'BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER' THE CHARACTER ANGEL (A VAMPIRE WITH A SOUL) STRUGGLES WITH BEING BACK FROM HELL. HE ENDS UP FIGHTING AN AMBUSH OF VAMPIRES, THEN IS HIT BY A CAR, CAUSING HIM TO BE BLIND, DEAF, AND MUTE. HE TRIES THE WHOLE BALANCE ON ONE LEG (I THINK IT'S CALLED 'GOLDEN ROSTER'?) ANYWAY HE KEEPS LOSING HIS BALANCE, AND FALLING DOWN. HE REGAINS HIS SIGHT, AND HEARING, BUT IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER FOR HIS CONFIDENCE TO FORM WORDS BACK. BUT WITH THOSE AROUND CLAIMED AS FAMILY, THEY FACE THE STRUGGLES TOGETHER... I'M WRITING 'ANGEL'S RETURN' IN THE VAMPIRE'S POINT OF VIEW. IN THE TV SERIES THEY HAVE A FEW SCENES OF ANGEL PERFORMING TAI CHI.

  • @ultimatacticalsurvival

I used to be a scrapper, quite a vicious one. However, as I got older I didn't like causing anyone harm, I felt guilty of the people I had hurt. But when you stop and get older, there's always the younger ones who want to beat the names. So I was forced to hurt them quickly instead of enjoying it. Most of them were unconscious or had broken jaws. Then I became seriously unwell. So for the last 5 years after nearly dying 4 times, I am back training on weights, but on chemo for life. I couldn't start judo because I don't have the energy. Tai Chi is something that can help me with my balance and help me teach my boys about defence instead of breaking someone apart. One boy 7 already packs a devastating shoulder powered punch. I don't want him using it. I hope I can learn from you, sir. One step at a time.
I regret my past and the many years in prison. I want my kids to live a different life. Thank you, you have inspired me

Did notice you looked 90 degrees from the bow step and peng movement when you initially were displaying the form. Said to myself what is Sifu doing? Had to wait for your breakdown explanation then...ahhhh, ok. Appreciate the way you breakdown form. Since you asked for feedback, here's mine. Would it be possible to add a little overview of the "martial art/fighting" aspect of the form. Mahalo.
p.s. Eh Brah, Al here. This is a really old Google account that I signed up as ka mana.

Hi. I found your tai chi seated online lessons to be very good. My physical strength has been very poor for sometime and then I started doing a weekly yoga lesson here at home as I had become housebound over the last couple of years. And then I remembered that very good online tai chi teacher at TaijiFit....as my yoga teacher has provided me with a good yoga programme and I am now managing the stairs and a very short assisted walk outside....my yoga teacher has added more standing to my programme lately and tai chi is more fun than waiting for the kettle to boil!!,,,, though some just standing of course does feature. I just did your first lesson in the 100 days series, standing all the time, and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Glad I came upon this through Facebook and have signed on. Your format was clear and easy to follow but I wanted a final sum up (so to speak) where you face us and we do the movement with you much like your video tapes and the morning flow which I use/follow religiously. Thank you, David, for continuing to share your growth!

Excellent! I love the level of detail. I have already learned some good stuff I hadn’t picked up from learning this form before. I especially like the way you showed the moves from front and back. I agree with the previous comment, that a video of the entire form, or at least reasonably sized sections of it, would be very helpful as we go along.

David, would you like to travel for a class in Port Clinton, Ohio, at the gym called TeamViac? This gym is a veteran's training center and open to the nonmilitary also. We occasionally have fundraisers where we invite special fitness guests.
WE HAVE NEVER HAD TAI CHI MASTER HERE OR IN THE AREA!
Many gym members are coming to my new Tai Chi offering, and I am not certified. I teach beginner forms without flow.
I just studied with you on Day 1 of your 100 day CZcams program.
There is so much MORE to Tai Chi than I can offer. Thanks for your time in bringing Tai Chi concepts to our little town! Gini
