I have a feeling, McColl's Farm will be postponed in December 2022 or early 2023, due to the delay of the NY Toy Fair, with remaining seven items being upheld.
So about you being confused on which is what wave at the beginning: Wave 1 is Thomas, Gordon, James, Percy, Diesel, Rosie, Hiro, Nia, Rebecca, and Kevin Wave 2 is Edward, Henry, Toby, Emily, Kenji, and the Troublesome Trucks Wave 3 that we currently know of is Kana(AEG), Carly(AEG), and Sandy(AEG) The ballast track was only present for a little bit, it’s not even on the wave 1 boxes anymore Lol

Diesel and Nia are definitely wave 1. Rebecca is a question mark as she sometimes grouped with Thomas, Gordon, and Nia(Like on Diesel’s pamphlet), but then she is shown with the rest of engines.
Amazing showcase on all these 2022 Wooden Railway engines! They all look great although some can use improvements like Hiro's wheel configuration, the size of Edward's wheels, the faces with some engines, Toby's proportions, Rebecca's tender wheels, and more, but I'm happy to see these toys being made with more characters! I should go to Barnes and Nobles to get some of these engines!
Hiro's wheel configuration looks off since he only has 2 front wheels, not 4. I do wish they'd give him a 2-6-2 wheel configuration to make him look close to what he looks like in the show with his red wheels. But he looks good nonetheless!
maybe instead of 2-6-2 a 2-8-0 because 1. Mattel wants it simple, and 2. From Gordon and rebecca they only do the front few wheels. Plus it would be nice to give him all 8 of his driving wheels

As for the future of this range, we know Kana, Carly, and Sandy (the AEG mains) and a McColl’s Farm destination (that is rumored to come with Terence) are set to release. Outside of that, nothing. But it’s highly likely we’ll get Ashima, Yong Bao, Whiff, Harold, Skiff, and Beresford since they’re in the reboot. Any character in the reboot is practically a shoo-in.
I hope, besides the 5 you said, they make Duck, Donald & Douglas, Oliver (& Toad), Bill & Ben, Mavis, Salty and Paxton. Those are probably the top ones. Maybe Sidney, Philip, Hurricane, Merlin and More, too.

Just because the humans look cartoony doesn't mean it's automatically based on all engines go. They did say they were making all engines go characters, but this wooden railway reboot is based on the original show. Not the mention the fact that you compared the troublesome truck to an engine that isn't even from this line 💀
