    Building a DIY Bathroom Vanity yourself is a great way to save a lot of money. Most bathroom vanities are super expensive and made of MDF or particle board, not solid wood. You can make this vanity for under $300 and invest in some nice bathroom fixtures or just save the money.

    love the drawer comments, I've been making drawers for about a year, some were literally a parallelogram ;). Just updated a kitchen cabinet with a wall oven and added drawers below and finally build a square drawer, small wins ;). This project was great, I'm likely going to be building a vanity for a guest bathroom soon, so bookmarked!

    Why does no one make a hinged drawer on the top? Makes a great place for small items. My grandmother's kitchen, for the sink, you pulled on on it and it hinged open, it is where she kept most of her spices, when closed they laid flat, when front was open it pulled down about 60 degrees and you could easily read the containers and grab them. Many small things to store around a bathroom vanity too... Filip it down, access toothpaste/toothbrushes, not sitting out, not down in some deep drawer :) Loved the color of this!

      I appreciate your support of the channel, Gary! I try to make it still have some value if you're not interested in the sponsor I'm talking about. And if you go back and look on a close up you can see these little spring stops on the Foreman. So whenever I do the edge holes I use those. Anything on the interior I just eyeball and typically go ~6" apart.

      It's a nice project, I like the solid colour. I am in the middle of planning a vanity build and this is inspiring. @@thomashajicek2747 certainly no argument there, a quality ply, properly sealed, is the best way to go in these environments - short of marble or plastic, maybe :) . I always factor in the value of my time on home DIY projects like this. If it takes $300 in materials to build a cabinet that I would otherwise have to purchase for $700, I'm only "saving $400" if my time has zero value. Some people are willing to give their time away for nothing, and will take on projects like these. For others, the $400 in "savings" won't buy an hour of their time.

    • @giselly0077
      @giselly0077 Pƙed 3 lety

      I do agree with you on the value of time - it will definitely take much longer to create this yourself vs purchasing one already made. But for the pre-made cabinets, don’t forget to factor what materials you are purchasing for that $700. So even though you are “saving” $400, MDF is made out of particle board and/or fibers, which is not as strong as the plywood he used. Additionally, MDF may not be able to carry the weight of marble or granite either without bending or needing more reinforcements - which also cost additional money.

    Don’t remember where I got this (Stumpy Nubs?), but if you have some of those wood-jawed screw clamps, you can use them instead of the vice you said you needed. Clamp rests flat on bench and holds your piece vertically, and if you need extra stability you can clamp the clamp to the bench
    (Edit: now that I think of it, your parallel clamps could do the trick too!)

    Really nice work and saved $100's of dollars, shame it takes $20,000 dollars of tools to make it.

    Hi, Brad, What paint did you use? I'm working on a similar project and most paint I've found is upwards of $45 per quart.

    one more question bc i don't have a small hand planer.. What's a good brand to look for and if there are any features to look for as an advantage to wanting that on a planer? Thanks.

    Very nice addition to your bathroom! Curious, what are your thoughts on the mirk sander? I have seen mixed reviews and wondering how you feel. Thanks Brad, great video as well.

    Good job. The cabinet is very nice, but its price is still expensive even though it is halved.

      Agreed, could be bought from a store cheaper like ikea but you just know the wood used will just be shocking yet beautiful to the eye !

      A bathroom vanity of that size and comparable build is $400 at Ikea. You can buy cheaper but, as he says, it'll be made of lower quality material and may not last as long. $300 for a solid plywood vanity is a fantastic price.

      @@tiawilliams5690 Okie, maybe the price is different in my country and the other country, With $ 300 for a plywood cabinet then in my country it's a hefty price, for that money in my country can make very beautiful wardrobes or beds made entirely of wood. The cabinet in video like on its price is less than $ 100.

      @@Dogo24h in the US, a vanity cabinet like this made of plywood can easily run $600-800, and honestly doesn't look this good in most cases
