    Why would you want to compare any Insignia to a BMW/Audi/Mercedes? It's competitors are Passat, Superb, Optima, Mazda6 etc

      @Jupp Schlabutt Na dann.

    I am a first time Opel owner since 2018, and from an ownership pint of view Opel beats at least the big three in my opinion. Very reliable and in the rare case of a problem it is inexpensive to fix. Who cares if there are a few bits of hard plastic in som places, why is that such a big thing among car reviewers. Besides, all Opels are really good looking today.

    Is the Insignia not more likely to compete with cars like the Ford Mondeo, Kia Optima, VW Passat etc.? Bit unfair to pitch it with prestige cars, although on looks and price it wins hands down.

      Andy K. UK Yap!I don't get it why he insist that much on comparing this Opel with such expensive brands.... People that look for an Opel Insignia or Kia Optima, or Passat, Mondeo, Peugeot 508, Renault Talisman, Mazda 6 do not look after Mercedes E, Audi 6 or BMW 5 becose they are so much more expensive. So... why this comparation?

    Audi's interior might be better, but its not 10,000€ worth of better. Plus their service is total shit - and it really shouldn't be, because their reliability is about as good as Fiat. I switched from an A4 to the new Insignia and I couldn't be happier - finally a premium car that has a premium ownership experience.

Morever there is such a thing as optimal engineering....perhaps vauxhall is able offer all those toys at a more affordable price because they are most likely not over engineering things.

    It would be a competitor for BMW, Audi and Mercedes if it was priced like them. Since it starts well under £20,000, however, you should be looking at the Mondeo, Mazda 6 etc. It's like asking if a Tesco value pizza will beat a Dominoes one

    The gap between premium brands and mainstream brands is closing with each generation . Merc nowadays have some awful reliability problems , horrible fit&finish (look at the trim from the New E-Class) and their transmissions are nothing to write home about .
    BMWs drive fantastically but inside are poorly made and are home for infinite electric problems .
    Audis look good on the inside but again S-tronic failures and too much VW sharing deludes the brand .
    So all in all this OPEL is at least at the level of the Three Big from Germany .

    Those AGR seats offer superior comfort and support for a price where normal people can participate. But the bloke in the video didn't really mention so much about that. Simple guideline for auto critics:
    * Always compare apples with apples.
    * Always compare within a similar price range.
    * Provide facts, engine specs, safety features, fuel consumption.
    * Comment on those things one can only tell from driving e.g. road/engine noise, cornering, brakes etc.
    * Don't bag a car just because it's missing some particular thing you like that others may not require.
    * Take value for money into account.
    * Last but not least - be objective and fair.

      Ahhh, the typical 'idiot' insult when you have got a point to make but are too illiterate to make it in a fair and decent way. Typical. Anyway, yes it's owned by Americans, soon the French, and Headquartered in Germany for now, however the principle remains that Vauxhall has two plants in the UK plus a head office that keeps thousands of British people employed, so next time you try to insult someone through your keyboard, why don't you engage your brain first? Moreover my comment was focused more on the car, which looks ok, and seems to represent good value for money next to the alternatives. Next time you make a comment please do so respectfully.

    You're too used to testing German premium cars that come for road tests fully loaded with options, the Insignia has far more standard kit than the 'premium' Germans. My 2010 elite insignia had a heap more kit than the 2013 F31 BMW 320D luxury that succeeded it, (it also happened to spend much less time off the road too). Sorry, I don't buy into the notion that BMW, Merc and Audi are better built either, and that's from practical experience, not a few thousand km on a jolly..

      Compared to the Mondo I would definitely go with the Insignia. The new Passat is a good car but a bit dull.

    Dont mind those idiot BMW fanboys. This car is true competitor of VW Passat, Merc C class, BMW 3 and Audi A4. prev gen was designed to do it the same but had some weaknesses but this gen Opel really approached its aim to be " premium alternative" so close.
    with a 5 metre long e class competing body it has AGR seats, all heated/front cooled seats, massage function on front, intellilux lightning, torque vectoring in 4x4 models, flexride magnetic chassis control system and many things. probably cool interior options like nappa leather which was an opt in prev gen will be added soon.
    the thing is, Opel branded one begins at 25.500 euros in Germany where vaux one is just 18000 pounds. because of brexit chaos Vaux keeps the price as lowest as it can.

    lets take a look at this car after 100 or 150 thousand km...than the difference to other brands will be even more noticeable. Opel/Vauxhall does not deliver the same long term quality as other brands in my opinion...First hand experiences with a Opel Vectra Caravan C...besides this there have been several Opel within my family/friends...Most of them would not buy any Opel again.

    • @ronpower7790
      @ronpower7790 Před 7 lety

      Not as Bad as opel...at least in the mid segment. If you take the ADAC data of the largest german Automobil club for granted only Ford and VW is as worse as Opel in terms of reliabilty, especially Audi, BMW and Mercedes significantly better. The Vectra C I had developed so much problems over the time I had it, which had been caused by bad engineering, bad quality (loosening of the steering wheel column, several bearings of the engine worn after less than 100k km, cylinder/block sealing leaking at 150k km, noises all around from the interior, gear shift extrem un-smooth from the factory, failing generator, leaking air con, leaking cooling system, general feel of a worn out car while driving...all within 4 years) Even worse experiences within family and friends.

    Since when has BMW,Audi, and Mercedes been vauxhalls rival I think Auto Express need to get there feet back on the ground and do some real journalism. Shouldn't this be compared to the Mondeo,Mazda6,Peugeot508and Renualt Laguna. Must be spending to much time ragging supercars giving them a distorted view of what ordinary people drive.

  • @macbuff81
    @macbuff81 Před 7 lety +1

    Mercedes: overpriced and bad quality (I had a beautiful C class one. Drove nicely had beautiful lines, but after only 80k the electrics as well as some basic mechanical parts broke down...this was during the dismal DaimlerChrysler period). Peugeot has truly beautiful and inspiring interiors, but sadly crappy reliability. Audi, also overpriced and boring. If one could combine Audi build quality (not the Q models, they are pretentious crap) with Peugeot interiors, then we would combine the best of both worlds.
