2021 Vauxhall Insignia facelift review - Is there still a spot in the market for the Insignia?

- So not a lot has changed with the new Insignia? However, was the design already good enough? I wonder if we will see another Insignia in the future and if so, it will be interesting to see what the PSA group change about the design.

I’ve had my 2020 Vx Line 2.0 diesel for 6 months now and it’s outstanding, I’ve driven Vauxhall’s for 40 years but I’d say this is my favourite to date , and I’ve had some brilliant cars in the past
Agree! It's a beautiful car. Underrated
I have the 1.6 turbo 200ps petrol and it's an absolute pleasure to drive. I'll be sad the day I sell it.
Excellent, looking forward to the next one already. Thank you for reviewing a proper car, the kind sadly dying out.
Yep 💔 I can’t get over the announcement of some brands being all electric by as little as 5 years 🥲
Thank you for another great review, I love the GSi
Yes, it’s a shame I didn’t get to see the GSI in person!! Doubt we’ll be getting one of those at work for a while.
@@mrdg1523 what kick did you get off of insulting me? Just trying to understand your reasoning…. Is it because someone said something nice, so you felt the need to balance it off with an insult?
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. My favourite Trim Is the VX Line Navigation
Yes! The front sports seats are very nice! I just like my luxuries 😁
Good review. Looking for one second hand with sunroof and flexride. Hard to find
Very nice review thanks 😊
Wow I literally just subscribed and I am rewarded with a review. Thank you very much.
New upload every Saturday ☺️☺️ thank you for subscribing
3:14 Cool opening sound 😍
Subscribed, Many Thanks, Peace From London. 🙏
Thank you for the support
Great review! But the inside of the insignia looks the exact same as my 67 plate insignia grand sport elite.
I love it, Im waiting for this mini SUV trend to go away reminds me of 2008 when everyone thought people carriers were cool
I wonder if it will, they’re still proving very popular. Lots of brands are ditching their superminis 😔
I just brought one because I liked her soo much
In my country, Vauxhall is called Opel and it has a completely different logo.
Good review
Cheers Nigel!
How about the torque figures and 0-100 times?
These Insignia's are still one of my top favourites when they came into production, plus is Vauxhall/Opel still making these cars as I would like to get 2022 model.
Are they still making the insignia? I don’t think it will be for much longer
@@AutoSocialUK Jesus, then I might as well get a use one then if thats the case.
Edit: They where very good cars back the day, I absolutely loved them each year they came out even though they had slight problems they where decent cars, not too fast and not too slow they where just like Goldilocks and the three bears, lol.
Get over the large touch screens.3.36. They pop up or actually impede front vision and having all controls in them will cause plenty of issues when there's a glitch or malfunction, requiring software updates, which don't always go to plan either.
very good i subbed
Thank you for your support Adam
Space is a massive plus but shes probably 5'3. What if your 6ft?
Vauxhall's are fleet cars so are good value 2nd hand 1-2 years old almost half price that's where there value lies never buy a new one, As well as the superb another competitor is the mazda 6 very underrated.
Lovely 💐
Okay, be honest... how long did you sit in the Massage Seats?!?! 😂 Quite like that.... but i'm still on the hunt for a little pocket rocket. Well little...more like medium!
Nice video Tish, very well edited. I think I’d choose the Skoda Superb over this as it looks a bit more premium inside.
Iv had the vx line from 2018 , brake caliper and indicator unit replaced under warranty by dealers , has now done 67000 and not had any other problems , good on petrol , low emissions compliant ,usual stuff like tyres and brake pads changed , will probably get to 100,000 no problem if I keep it that long . Bodywork a bit thin , very spacious and easy to drive .
Whats your trunk like?
You haven't mentioned a word about the petrol engines, what are they like? Just a diesel review
I am keeping my much cheaper 2010 Insignia. These new generation insignias are very beautiful, but unfortunately can't afford to buy one. A massive plus on the new generation Insignia however, is the generous back headroom allowance massively lacking in the older insignias.
I have a 2010 Insignia, over 110k on clock, best car we have ever had, still going strong, I will hang onto it until it gives up on us.
I went from a 14 plate to 18 plate. I found it was mostly a positive improvement. Better handling more room etc. However vaux seem to like to strip options from there too end models for no reason
Guessing this would have been the 2021 Commodore had the Australian Holden marque survived. By the way, Vauxhall stopped exporting cars to Australia and New Zealand in 1980.
Don’t see many about,quite rare.
They're quite expensive new
Does the insignia have a lot of reliability issues ,thinking of buying one but have seen a lot of bad reviews on reliability
Got a Insignia B 1.5 L petrol 165 hp, 2018, with 33.000 km now,
Never had any problems.
Ours is 12 years old, over 110k on clock, superb reliability.
Vauxhall keeping the group D segment going..alongside the Passat, BMW 3 series, C class Mercedes, Audi A4, VW Passat, Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb, Hyundai i40, Kia Optima and the Mazda 6..👍🏾..
In EU, Opel 1.5 cdti has 3 cylinders. Vauxhall in uk produces 1.5cdti with 4 cylinders?
The 1.5 diesel has 3 cylinders, the 2 litre diesel is 4 cylinders
@@AutoSocialUK ok. In video heard 4 cylinders. But maybe....
@@dzintarsdandens2292 you’re completely right, I just listened back. My mistake, you can hear that I emphasise the 4 cylinder when talking about the 2L. I should have said 3 cylinder for the 1.5L sorry.
Gorgeous car❤
Any coming to Australia?
Nope.
Is it 1.5d engine with four cylinder ?
No apologies the 1.5 is the 3 cylinder, 2 litre is the 4
I've always hated Opel/Vauxhalls purely for the badge and the stereotypes the drivers have. I went on a business trip recently and was given a FL Insignia like this one - I was blown away about how good the car feels and how it drives. It definitely changed my perception on the brand. Would I buy a Vauxhall? No, they still need to work on brand perception and residual values.
The new mokka is meant to change the band perception, tbh they’ve tried the band perception thing for years, the original 2008 insignia and the vx220
@@minorearthmajorsky1476 Ye this is the true, unfortunately all attempts have failed. I doubt the new Mokka will do just that - the new Corsa is a fantastic car, but I know so many who wouldn't buy purely based on the stereotypes of the Corsa nameplate and the poor residual values, and unfortunately I'd have to agree with them
@@th-l8936 You say that having driven the Insignia you're blown away by how good the car feels and how it drives. And then you say you're put off by other people's perception - you should go by your own perception not other people's errant misconceptions. A neighbour that is a fleet car manager of various brands including Audi and Volvo has told me for years that Vauxhall reliability matches and often exceeds other brands, he himself chooses to drive... an Insignia. I drove company cars including Mondeos and VW Passats. The last Mondeo I had gave me a sore back on long and even medium distances e.g. after only 40 miles. A 300 miles each way trip was a nightmare, had to keep stopping. I changed to an Insignia and bingo, no more back problem and could drive 300 miles without a stop arriving fresh and relaxed. I also drove it for 120,000 miles with no faults - none at all. The only thing it needed on first MoT at 100k miles was a new front number plate. Its all in the mind, forget what others mistakenly assume. On residual values, buy "nearly new" and save a fortune, from there the values hold up well and you have a car that is up to the job, its just a lump of metal as all cars are, forget the snobbery.
@@SpeedKingHighwayStar 'Forget the snobbery' - get yourself a Sandero then :)
biggest problem with this and the pug 508 etc one/two years on their worth half the price from new
Why is the front bumper different colour than the rest of the car?
I don't believe it is, it is likely just lighting.
The darker hair makes your eyes stand out more 👌🏻
Thank you!
$?
Sucks that its not available for sale in the North American market anymore.
Indeed. The frenchies bought it and made Opel/Vauxhall again a money making brand in less than two years. "Faut le faire!"
Still the side repeaters in the wrong place....should be in the door mirror housing.
It is nice but prefer previous models. Better than bmw or audi. Kia Optima GT is nice too.
That's a huge steering wheel.
So interesting it's a car made by GM but now currently being made by Stellantis-Chrysler?
Very nice review love these reviews but sorry the car is a bit boring. We like high performance quality cars like Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA 45. Try this one thanks.
I know; unfortunately with lockdown in the UK I am limited to a very small amount of brands; Vauxhall, Suzuki and Citroen as that’s the company I work for. However I promise, stick around and there will be big things coming when it’s safe to work with new brands ☺️
@@AutoSocialUK Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA 45 😀 that's a really nice car.
@@shanjanusman9974 actually one of my favourite cars!! Good choice 👏🏼
Insignias are not boring!!!
Where did you get your shirt? Did you unstitch the seat of an opel kadett?
First ofc 😁😄
Woooo! You’ve obviously got the bell notification turned on!! 🔔
However, it’s not like anyone is gonna get a prize.
@@AutoSocialUK ofc i have
@@DaveDVideoMaker i know that I'm just a fan..
@@AutoSocialUK have a nice Saturday!
I love my 2014 Sri insignia , I swap 😁😁😁
"Coup?" Do you mean Coupé?
Nope, I’m not french 😉
Not that 1.5 diesel engine I heard it’s terrible and because it needs to be worked fuel economy won’t be very good either.
6:32 lol? who's ditching diesels? :D I just got my first ever diesel XD literally all my friends, coworkers , relatives have, or planning on getting a diesel :D
Brands are ditching Diesel. Jaguar have just announced that all models will be electric by 2025 😅 I do agree though, I still love a good diesel for a long journey
Nissan got rid of its diesel engine on its new Qashqai.
Diesel is still best for high mileage drivers which most insignia drivers are. School run mum running around in her Qashqai doesn’t need a diesel option.
My dad’s had a diesel for a long time, even before I was born.
@@AutoSocialUK jaguar will lose sales the infrastructure is at least 10 years away ,personally i can't see the world going fully electric there just isn't enough raw materials for batteries.
So this Vauxhall is really an Opel which is really a Stellantis.. 2020 really was a bonkers year.
This Vauxhall is really an Opel but not YET a Stellanis 😅😅 not this generation anyway.... maybe the next, if they keep the Insignia going! TikTok also taught me that is a Buick???? Or something like that??
@@AutoSocialUK Yup.. I repeat.. Bonkers
Vauxhall is not only Opel, but also Buick and Holden, which was part of GM until Opel merged with PSA group which merged with FCA and is now Stellantis.
However the Opel(Vauxhall) in this video, is a GM.
Just making it more bonkers! Haha!
But still made in Russelsheim Germany.
There’s a choice of a 9-speed automatic transmission. A Mercedes-Benz has 9 speeds on its new automatic transmission.
See I didn’t want to say that because I’ve seen mixed messages. I found an article that said it’s a 9 speed automatic and then in the official press release it says: ‘In addition to the six-speed manual gearbox, customers have the option of pairing this engine with a smooth eight-speed lightweight automatic transmission’
I’ve seen that most new automatics by PSA are the 8-speed automatic transmission, especially the new Corsa.
Oh, the GSi only has the 9-speed transmission.
@@DaveDVideoMaker ahhhh I thought that would be the case. I skimmed over that part of the article as I wasn’t looking at the GSI
Didn' bought becouse it have no head room for passanger, which is disappointing for 5m car
Insigniiiaaaaa! hahah
Pretty girl in a pretty sound used buy, loads of car for your money!
Definitely a good one for 6 months to a years time! Agreed!
She'd get some
If you had £7-8k, what car would you buy? 😊
Ohhhhh tricky one!! Nowadays I would always finance a car and keep my cash in the bank (not the right choice for everyone) I would probably by a Golf ☺️
Oi 8 inch is plenty
I simply hate the fact as u refer to the car and its development as "vauxhall" this and that... its an Opel, made, and developed by Opel, than slapped the griffin on its nose.. thats about all Vauxhall has to do with it :D
Well, Brits you know... want to believe this American/German car is still a bit British. Lol!
the rear window looks shit with 3 sections why?
Dont make sedan its a past make crossover suv big suv with ev or hybrid or ur brand will be like pontiac, saturm, oldmobile, saab ,austin jus ta story and history
Vauxhall no thanks
Vauxhall = Opel = GM =Trash. Both Vauxhall's I owed had engine problems. Both didn't last me a year. Do yourself a favor and get anything else. LOL
I've had my insignia 7 years and so far I've had to replace 1 glow plug and a set of tyres. 60,000
@@lys823 Thats great. You're the first I've heard of having great success with the Vauxhall. My back to back experience with dealership Vauxhalls left a bad taste. For that money, I rather buy a Toyota to be honest. I've owned a Hilux Surf I imported from Japan 91 Model with nearly 300K on the clock. Only thing I have done to it was regular service and timing 2 timing belts/water pumps 110K and again at 230K. Has yet to fail me.
@@minimoe2008 I and My partner have 2 x zafira, 1 with 100k and the other with 170k, no problems at all, just the usual wear and tear items. I also have a Vectra with the 2.8 v6 Turbo engine and again its been fine, just the usual wear and tear, but then again I do all my own work on my cars as im an engineer.
@@stiggyness1976 The engineering background must help. I usually do all my own maintenance as well.
I had a 2008 Astra 1.8 petrol that had a hard life with me. I hardly ever serviced it. Ran it on a dirty cone air filter for years and ragged it senseless. Had it for 6 years and it’s still on the road now. I have had 65 Rev insignia elite for 2 years now with 75k on and it’s never missed a beat. Also had 2 BMWs which were always in the garage. Vauxhall’s ain’t that bad. You always get bad cars no matter what the manufacturer
Wow this car is still as dull as ever, still looks like a rep mobile and nothing about that’s interesting or would make you choose this over anything else. Big Vauxhall’s are a dreadful buy new as they just loose so much money on the used market.
