"this isn't an Audi, I must nitpick every little detail" 😆
It's the best looking Vauxhall for a long time! It's actually excellent value.
Also a buick regal in america
The old model is very Nice!!
It’s incredibly ugly...not even subjective...Vauxhall are in serious trouble with this boring car..the Peugeot is so much more inspiring
It's also a far better car than a VW Passat
@@alanwayte432 and much more expensive
In other cars, its a high quality dampered glove box, in this car, it is a problem.
Having a guage telling you the battery power and oil pressure / temperature is not overkill!
I have this car, you can change them to show other info like average mpg, instant mpg, average speed, fuel range, ad-blue level (diesel version)
@@pareshpanchal91
Same. Tons of nice info to have. Didn't even expect that. Usually leave mine at avg fuel consumption and oil temp. Water temp is fixed which is a great plus 😎
@@rosen9425 mine isn't fixed, I can change both sides, it's a 2019, theres a video of the auto park on my channel, you can see it there, is yours like that?
@@pareshpanchal91
Top right instrument in the cluster is the water temp.
Looks like we have the same spec car, thanks for reminding me. I forgot I have auto-parking 🤣
@@rosen9425 ah I see, I thought you were referring to the pocket gauges, to be honest I have only used the auto park a handful of times to try it. Do you have the HUD?
Really underrated car, couldn't believe how nice it was to drive. Would consider one next and Im not a Vauxhall man.
Jeremy Clarkson also likes the Zafira Tourer, its in his top 10 list because of the handling, comfort and looks.
I actually have one
I prefer Vauxhall interior to Ford. That touchscreen infotainment system actually has good responsiveness, unlike others from pricier cars. Pretty impressed with it value wise.
Harpreet06 Well I dislike screens integrated in the dashboard. Its just too far down. Fords systems are also quite responsive (sync3).
I like the rest of the styling is quite nice though! Good job Opel
I'd agree with that. Touchscreen only infotainment systems are so bad, like Matt showed here, imagine if you're driving and you need to do something on there and have to lean forward plus take your eyes off the road. They need to keep the wheel based system plus the touchscreen, so you have best of both. All they do with the extra space is have that little storage compartment at 3:29.
I own one. I can do nothing but recommend it! Super high value for your money! Does everything you expect it to do very well. IMO, it looks reeaally smart 🤔
What about fuel consumption? Is it as bad as he showed on the video?

2016 -2017 is good also, i drive audi a5 2014 myself but my girlfirend have insignia 2017 model, i feel likew king when she driving me about :) in my audi is fuck all space
For my favourite car reviewer, this review sounds like you had made your mind up before you saw the car.
Nice to see another but around
I bought one of these. 1.5 turbo petrol, auto, and does 45mpg on a long run. Gearbox isn't to bad, but a very relaxing drive, and the design is good too. I've always turned away from Vauxhall's, but the value for money, space and renewed reliability (see JD power survey) I couldn't say no...and haven't been disappointed!
how much did you pay. and what mileage and year? im thinking of buying one
@@user-cn1em2qx6f I paid £15k for mine over a year ago. Still running well, albeit not quite as economical as I first hoped, but nothing major
@@user-cn1em2qx6f I have just bought one. 68 plate (Registered 2019) £9696 44k miles. Beautiful car to drive.
I have a 2013 Insignia diesel it had 13,000 mile when I bought it, will soon be clocking the 255,000 mile mark, never let me down.
Oh Christ, another car that because it isn't BMW, Mercedes, or Audi it gets criticised for the tiniest things. Having oil temperature is overkill? Really? Yet in other reviews, things are okay because at the end of the day, it's a Mercedes, or Audi...
I was thinking how nice it was to have an oil temperature gauge and voltmeter. To my mind they're both pretty essential gauges to see whether you're overworking the engine or it's not running very efficiently (oil temperature goes up), or the battery isn't being charged properly, using too many accessories or you've got an electrical fault. I really don't understand why car's don't have extra gauges these days.
It‘s French
It's just his attitude. Not only does he pick on the most irrelevant details that other cars to the same or even worse, but even when he talks about something positive he has an attitude that makes him sound like he's complaining.
It's truly pathetic. If a guy called BMW asked if he could shag this presenters wife, the presenter would likely say yes.

Is it just me or is Matt being particularly nit-picky about this car?
I mean complaining about the feel of a rear view mirror, really?
The look & feel of the rear seat USB ports, come on Matt.
Vauxhall have to find ways to keep the costs down on items that don't matter.
Also, Matt....you leave the bonnet open & then moan you get hear the diesel engine, you see all of the insulation, if the bonnet was closed that insulation would then work.
Also, the Insignia is built in Germany, so you'd think Matt would actually go easy on it like one of his beloved Audis.
Just like every other "car journalist", he's in awe with anything with a German name. Does he not even know that this car is designed and developed in Germany? Indeed some of the worst cars in terms of quality and reliability are German, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes and especially VW. Just look at the readers comments in Honest John car reviews where they tell it at it is.
@@TL-xw6fh Worst in quality and reliability. Can you please tell me which other similar brands have better quality? I drove quite a few different brands, and I own 2 Audis now. In term of reliability, there's plenty of these brands on road with hundreds of thousands miles. People dont really take care of the cars nowadays, that is the biggest issue. You got idiots who just buys diesels, and use them to drop kids to school, for example, and the DPF fucks up then. They go out and cry the car is trash. Difference between german cars and other brands, is that you really feel a difference when you drive them, and they blend this with pretty good quality, but, again, comes with costs, who's not up to pay for it, shouldn't own one imo

Remember the KIA Stinger? That car won many awards and was well welcomed in the car industry... But for Mat it was just a KIA so of course he thought it was terrible. Same thing with The Kia Sorento, the SUV, when they tested it vs the Vw Tiguan and the Skoda Karoq... It won almost in every category but of course it didn't win because it was KIA. I like Mat but sometimes he's WAY to biased.
My families first vehicle was from this brand. Granted, this was Jamaica and listening to people mix it up with a Peugeot was its first conversation starter. This was a long time ago..

Good value for money for someone who just wants to get from A to B, without being caught up with brand image.
We have an Astra Estate Elite for A to B duties and it is great for doing that. It's not a fun drive, but then isn't meant to be.
I don't have a problem with the exterior/interior designs ,not even with the older models ,but for god's sake use something else but cheap plastic , use rubber use resin ,anything ,it gives you that feeling of a toy car that is about to crack.

My dad got an insignia in 2019 and it's incredibly comfortable for passengers, and he describes the feeling as being super smooth and responsive. I'm currently learning how to drive and I'm so excited for when i finally get to sit behind the wheel

Feel like you’re being excessively critical on this one mate.
A good car doesn’t have to a BMW, Audi or Mercedes only.
This car may not be flash but it is damn good value for money.
Plus new BMW, Audi and Mercedes cars are not that reliable and well built as they used to be.

Fynn yes because with 40k you can buy an Audi A4 that is a completely different car in quality and luxury.
Seems to be overly critical. The reaching for the climate controls is exactly the same as the previous gen Audi’s, yet it’s not mentioned in the review of those.
The Insignia, (Buick Regal) is classed as a mid-size car in Canada/US. I'd hate to hear the whining of some of these folk if they had to adjust the climate in a Buick LaCrosse, LOL
@@nobodyimportant6851 LOL, exactly what I was thinking. That's a good problem to have!
I own the equivalent .. In Australia.. tuned thoughin Australia by Aussie engineers.. and much lither. The 4 cylinder 2 litre petrol turbo.. I own one it a brilliant car on the road.. you can lope along at 112 kl per hour at avery nice and cruisy between 1250 and 1400 revs per minute. the 191kw and 35nm of torque and low kerb weight.. about 1530 hundred weight the acceleration between 90 and 140 is brilliant.. this car is perfect.. pace and saloon characteristics .. It handles like a gazelle yet you feel it's grip and solidity at every turn. Brakes are superb, trusts builds immediately. The hatch back, Holden call it lift back, is great to gain access as it rises high. The only thing I would like is if it was automated. The Infotainment system is washed out looking, pastel coloured, not as pretty as the lippy rich screen of other cars. But the functionality if Android Auto is perfect ,all undertaken by voice commands, even able to send texts and edit these by voice.
What is the ground clearance of this car?
It's the new year, and he's still cranking out reviews. Most impressive!
I was looking out for a video on the Insignia Gran Sport about 5 hours ago on Carwow and all that I got was the Insignia estate. Good that this is here now. Thanks, mate.
to fault the noise of the engine with the hood open is ridiculous. You don´t have the hood permanently open when you are driving in the city or when you´re at home. Also the mats in the hood are supposed to reduce the noise of the engine. So maybe you should have closed the hood and then jugde the noise
That's why I will only buy cars with gasoline engines even though the fuel consumption it's not that great but they are better to drive that cars with truck engines
Marius my dad drives a 2015 Audi Q5 3l diesel, when you sit inside you hear nearly nothing coming from the engine, so what exactly do you mean with „gasolines are better to drive“?
@@Thorbinskiiii rev higher, have more linear power through the rev range, have more power and are faster in general
Protector of the Republic thats right, but these are characteristics of a gasoline engine. For what does an engine have to rev high? Especially when a diesel engine is able to have the same poweroutput with much less rpm? And of course diesels have a less linear poweroutput, but thats a characteristic of a diesel. And also you can‘t generalize that gasolines have more power or are faster

This is a Vauxhall in UK, Opel(original) in mainland Europe, Buick in USA and Holden in Australia. Truly a re-branding legend. I don't think any other car was re-branded as this much.

Happy new year @carwow and my favourite analyst matt watson
6:45 “got to tick everything off the list haven’t I?” Yes Mat that’s exactly what this review feels like, a somewhat incongruous slating of a seemingly perfectly practical and class leading car for the money. You’ve raised issues with this car that haven’t been mentioned in VW group cars with the same issue for example. And the cars praises are just brushed over. It’s not supposed to be a 3 series or a c class so reviewing it with those expectations is just ridiculous. Also the complaint about the damped glovebox is ridiculous for the person who rants an raves about damping in Volkswagen how it’s the hallmark of quality.
These are being used as the latest police cars in NZ (it's called the Holden Commodore here). It's smaller than the old Commodore by a whole class, but it's nice to see its still quite practical, I guess.
These are used as police cars in Birmingham also.

I just bought mine with 47.000km on it, it literally has all the options possible, but on the smallest diesel engine the 1.6 CdTi with automatic transition(which is great for me cuz I only plan to drive it home/work), and here’s my opinion on the first month since owning it:
Driving is so good, so easy and it handles very well even tho it’s a big car, it really surprised me, and It’s a very comfortable car.
The technology isn’t anything mind blowing, but considering the price compared to an Audi/BMW, it’s great, a simple infotainment system with good driving assistance, I really like thatt.
The interior quality is good considering the price but there are things they could have done better, like the turning signal stick feels too cheap, and the rear mirror shakes alot especially if you’re listening to loud music with big base. And it surprised me that the only way to listen to music was with bluetooth connected to your phone, no SD card slot or anything. I also wish the apple car play could be done wirelessly.
The quality of the rear camera is really awful.
And what worries me is that the engine is really loud, like I know all these opels are noisy, but I mean this seems a bit too weird at times.
For me so far so good, could have been better, but considering the price I’m more than happy.
I drove down to the West country in the 2018 model last year. It's a very relaxing and undemanding drive.
New year's eve and a new review by Mat! What else?
Apart from the tyre roar/road noise, it looks like a great car. Love the LEDs

I own one altho petrol 1.6 turbo and its been a great car...had it 15 months. Beautiful drive and real good value for the money.
This is such a lovely car! You get so much for the price, as well as the great sporty aesthetic. I am really impressed with Vauxhall. I think your review downplayed this vehical tremendously. It is amazing, and you really nitpicked the tiniest things about it. You complained about such small things. Why don't you compare this to any other under 20 grand car and see how much better it is.
Can't believe this is now Australia's new Holden Commodore I'm crying lol
Recently bought a Buick Regal Sportback, (what they call the Vauxhall/Opel Insignia here in North America). Very impressed, good little mid-sized car. Handles well, great on gas, very smooth & quiet.

In Australia that’s just the Holden commodore
Happy new year Matt
I bought this car as Buick Regal Sportback in the U.S. Just an amazing value for the money, since GM offers $10k discounts on them due to poor sales. The car is extremely comfortable, plush luxury ride, smooth steering, very quiet inside. 2.0 gasoline turbo/9-speed auto combo is very fast, but refined and smooth. Bose audio is very decent (it lacks in the tweeter area, but I am being picky here). Rear hatch is huge, it fits 65" TV flat on the floor easily.
It new year guys !🎊 Have a lovely day and amazing lifetime🙂
So it's basically just good. For anyone who doesn't care about driving and isn't an image snob this seems like a really good choice. Guessing virtually nobody watching this would ever buy one, unless they do a VXR and it's not terrible this time. I do like the styling though, and Vauxhall interior design is definitely better than some of the crap out there (Ford/BMW I'm looking at you).
you find Vauxhall make better interiors than BMW?
Lol Vauxhall interior better than BMW😂😂. I'm not a fan of BMW but this is ridiculous.
Not sure I'd say Vauxhall interiors are better than BMW without other factors, but for the price certainly yes. BMW interiors are disappointing and wear really badly- after 50k they look worn and nasty. I actually like BMWs (although the fanboys irritate me) so I'm not trying to bash them, I just find the interior quality really off-putting (which is why after a shortlist of 3 cars I don't drive an M240i or 440i that I was looking at). For the price I'd say BMW interiors wear worse than anything else I've seen and I find the styling flat and uninteresting although that 2nd point is obviously subjective. I'd suggest though that after 100k miles you'll be able to read all the buttons on this Vauxhall, while on a 3 series that's just not happening.
Edit: I should make it clear, for £20k I'd consider a used BMW but not any Vauxhall, I'm only comparing interior quality...
Meaningless insulting comments by Fapboi Hardon proving the Dunning-Kruger effect. Surprisingly I've had a number of sensible debates in CZcams comments sections, but on any car video you have to say "yay BMW are the best at everything" because even an i3 is the most fantastic car ever due to nothing except the badge. Don't even care if you're a BMW fanboy, your existence here has, as usual, only detracted from everyone else's.
Agreed that Ford interiors are poor (take the new Fiesta for quality and haphazard design choices) and the BMW 1 Series especially for being REALLY cheap. The sun visors are a real poor point. Anyone defending BMW obviously hasn't sat in the new Insignia or hasn't sat in a modern BMW.
Such a practical car, excellent value for money and it actually looks presentable now! Win!
I’ve had 2 Insignia Tourers...... both comfy well appointed and reliable .....and both bargains over 215,000 miles......workhorses without fuss
