    Liam another good overview👍 Personally I think Howard will get another years extension, yes we have some good young goalkeepers but if Okonkwo returns to Arsenal or is snapped up by a Championship side then we need Howard as a full back, he is happy to play as a back up keeper, he did it with Foster and also Okonkwo, he is a steadfast keeper who has performed excellently when required. A lot will depend on Okonkwo or his replacement, neither of the younger keepers we have are ready to be the first team No 1 at this moment in time, ideally we get promoted and Okonkwo decides to sign on a permanent at the end of the season. Realistically Okonkwo will go to a premier league or Championship side or possibly abroad, so having Howard there I feel is a must. He only needs to play a handful of games to justify a year’s extension. Leighton as good as he is, just can’t get injury free so I would let him go but not both. Just my thoughts, keep up the good work 👍🇬🇧

    Mark howard will hang up his boots and put on his keeper coach hat for the young ones

    Maybe with all the injuries. Maybe Rob would stay on as a goalie coach for the Women's or Young team. It could start his coaching career.

    Keep Fletcher, he’s got an asset that’s hard to find. Come onto the pitch and flow right in like he’s been playing since game start.
    Hayden is like other physical and lean players that play at elite levels, he needs proper training facilities. This needs to be said, Wrexham needs a proper training facility more than a new kop. Our weight room is a bit of a joke. In the states, you wouldn’t see that in most Jr High football field houses. That’s got to be addressed asap. Rob and Ryan need to buy/lease land and a building to serve as their proper training facility. We need it to attract younger, high end internationals and domestics. Other than “the project” these are high end machines that require proper training facilities. We could be competing with the likes of Leyton, Portsmouth, Burton Albion next season. They have proper facilities, we don’t. I don’t know why this isn’t talked about more, or am I missing something

    I think hayden is class. I'd sign him on a dirt cheap contract with bonus £s for each game he's fit for.

    Kenny Jacket was Swansea manager back in 2007. Ac forum did this type of article. it was called Jackett's Hatchet. Quite brutal. They are footballers and as such grossly overpaid.

    I wont name names, but with a team with ambition to keep moving up through the tiers, with recent injuries of our top players and some of the new signing have highlighted that some of the other players L2 is about their level, and as you mentioned some players are a little too injury prone to rely on

  • @Kim-ru2yr
    @Kim-ru2yr Před 6 měsíci +2

    Agree with most of these but for a few, it depends on their season this year. Fletcher will have to return and have the same or similar impact he had at the start of the season. He might pack it up at the end of the season anyway, as he'll be 37 by then. Aaron Hayden has to play more. If he only manages to get in 20 or so league games again I don't see the point of offering him another contract, even though he's only 26. Similarly, Jordan Tunnicliffe's injuries might be the difference in whether he's offered a contract.

    • @Kim-ru2yr
      @Kim-ru2yr Před 6 měsíci

      @@jph418 It really depends on what happens with Arthur Okonkwo and whether or not Wrexham can keep him, which probably is contingent on whether they get promoted or not. If they do, then Mark Howard wouldn't be in Wrexham's 2024-25 plans.

    • @jph418
      @jph418 Před 6 měsíci

      @@Kim-ru2yr makes sense but he’s a good guy to have on bench. Experienced and solid. But he may want to call it a career himself. I’d love Arthur to stay but I think it’s a long shot. They need to be on lookout for another solid youngster. Not sure on the Irish lads

    McFadzean,Hossanah,McAlinden are the three most obvious ones for me. Unfortunately, Lainton might be another one to be relesed. Fantastic keeper but injuries have knocked him down the pecking order.

  • @jph418
    @jph418 Před 6 měsíci +5

    Hayden has gotta go.
    Way too soft. Very talented but takes himself out of too many games. Keep Howard. All the guy has done has made 47 starts, with THREE losses, & 17 clean sheets! The keeper most responsible for promotion is worth keeping for another year - sorry all you Foster lovers but Howard much more valuable & responsible for the team being in the EFL- as he’s been the consummate teammate and true professional. All he does is play when asked, gets results while he’s at it and again, leads by example. He may want to call it a career but definitely not a bad guy to have on the squad.

  • @diandraalders3561
    @diandraalders3561 Před 6 měsíci

    I think Hayden will stay is because other than McFadzean for example, there isn't an obvious better player than him to put in the game. He also has a steadying effect in the defence which is a rare skill. If I were Parky I'd be looking for that player who could be a same level alternative as Hayden.
    All logical reasons aside, I can't imagine Wrexham without Luke Young.

    Using my expert partner (FM24) and having taken Wrexham to the Premier League in the 2029/30 season......i was suprised as Byrce (30) is still with me, but a back up of a backup and leaving in the summer, as is Mr Mullin (sniff) (304 app 178 goals) but i kept bryce because of his assists. I agree with Mc Alineden and Mac Fazdean (sry). as for goal keepers, i wasn't able to keep Okonkwo (Arsenal wouldn't extend loan/couldn't afford £) but would have loved to. He will only get better imho.
    Lainton and Howard are not league 1 keepers, sry. fyi Young played 204 games 21 goals (18-2024) retired and now works for Luton. Says the game. but what does it know :) James and Bickerstaff never featured, just not the right the people for the right time. As for Tozer, agreed but we should be looking replacements in the next two transfer windows. Tunni. donno, lets see.?
    In short. we might be a league 1 team in 7 months, we gotta build depth and start with the goal keeper. Up the Town!

  • @nicholasjones7312

    I disagree with you on Tozer. He is too slow and the more canny teams suss him out straight away with pacey players. He has to go, unfortunately.

  • @Toxophilus
    @Toxophilus Před 6 měsíci +3

    I would keep McFadzean at the right price. He has been a journeyman and a practice player for a long time, and he's a good cover guy who knows our system and won't do anything stupid if he has to play once in a while.

    • @samc175
      @samc175 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Won't do anything stupid? You mean like the red card at the arse end of the season? He isn't a bad player, but if we want to push on, he isn't the sort of quality we should be keeping around. It's clear Parky doesn't rate him, or else he'd have a place in the squad. There's no way on Earth he's still here in August.

    • @Toxophilus
      @Toxophilus Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@samc175 Good point! Is it possible that Parky thinks he's learned from that, and kept him at the club even though he's not good enough for the 22-man EFL roster?

    • @samc175
      @samc175 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@Toxophilus I highly doubt it. That mistake at the back end of the season won't define Parky's view of him as a player, I just don't think he's good enough when compared to the others he has at his disposal.

    • @Toxophilus
      @Toxophilus Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@samc175 Agreed. I'm not suggesting that he should be in the 22, I'm suggesting that the club should find ways to keep a few players around (for relatively little money) who are outside the 22, so we won't have to go to the outside market if/when there are more injuries than usual.

  • @SFpuckstopper

    Keep Rob Lainton for one more year, and let Mark Howard retire.Keep Tozer and Fletcher. Hayden must stay but he gets injured a lot. McClean Sell. He is very hot headed. His crosses are all over the place. Like Steady Luke Young very much but I hope he goes to another team to play instead of sitting. Tunnicliffe is a definite keep. Bickerstaff needs more time. I think he will show us his quality. Good video with educated opinions. Keep up the good work, Liam !!

    • @SFpuckstopper
      @SFpuckstopper Před 3 měsíci

      I have to update my comment. I hope Rob Lainton gets well and takes turns with Arthur Okonkwo. Okonkwo is an excellent stopper but he is not playing the ball as well as he did before.
      Mark Howard is an excellent backup but his role as mentor to the younger keepers is so valuable. Concerning James McClean, I was way off base. Yes, he is hot headed but he has gotten his touch on crosses back. He makes other teams worry when he is on the pitch. James McClean has been a force since his return from international play. All of the players have their ups and downs during the season. It's good to see them when they are healthy and crushing it on the pitch. Up The Town !!!
