  • if you need to manipiulate, coerce, or pressure your prospect to buy, you are not good at selling. If you don't have the skillful means to help someone decide to buy what you sell and change, bullying them doesn't make you a good salesperson, it just makes you a bully.

Force is always the choice of those too weak to achieve their goals by other means.

Totally agree! Bullying someone into buying is a very short term strategy. How are you ever going to get word of mouth referrals from that. And most coaches who bully their clients into 12 month non-cancelable contracts at $2K a month - what ROI do their clients get?

I really wish your friend recorded the call. It is hard to believe that this still goes on

I agree, but you also have to consider that it may be the product or service that sucks, not the actual salesperson. My experience in sales has been that in some cases, salespeople bully because the company is offering such a poor product or service. Unfortunately, companies place such high pressures on their people to sell such garbage, resulting in this bullying mentality. Please consider that: it is not always the salesperson's fault. Sales is a two-way street between the rep and the company, and the company has just as much of a responsibility to produce a product or service that has value and generates positive word of mouth.
