  • I review the top-of-the-line Maserati Quattorporte GTS with it's Ferrari-built twin-turbo V8! What do you think of these? Huge thanks to Maserati for providing this vehicle and to the Automotive Video Association for arranging it!

    Maserati could be one of the greatest luxury sports sedan manufacturers if they didn't cheat out and actually put some effort into refining the car

      @@kylegordon9523 It could be the less funding given by it's parent company. I bet Maserati would do so much better if given a lot of funds.

      It's so true. I'm a Chrysler guy through and through; and I liked Fiat, Alfa, and Maserati before the merger, so I was thrilled when it happened. I'm not happy about what they've done to Maserati though. First time I sat in one at a car show I was disappointed immediately. The thing that really ticked me off is the insanely cheap pieces like that little plastic (er carbon fiber over plastic) flip door for the cupholders. I pushed on it to open it and almost vomited. How can a $100k plus car be so cheaply built?
      Honestly though, it's part of the reason I bought my 2018 Chrysler 300 touring with the S package. It's literally 90% of the quality/materials of the Maserati for 1/5th the cost (minus the Ferrari tuned engine and suspension of course). It shouldn't be that way, but it is. The switches are the same, the knobs are the same, so so much is the same it's embarrassing for Maserati and is directly Fiat's fault for not maintaining a higher standard of quality with such a prestigious badge (and also reason for maybe a second look at 300's if you have been considering a large German-ish style car; seriously I picked mine up for $23,000 brand new and if you look hard enough you can find them for even cheaper than that now).

      That’s what I’ve always said. They have so much potential but they cut too many corners. I’ve been a huge Maserati fan, but they never try to compete with the Germans. They take too long to add new equipment to their cars, that ZF transmission that everyone has hated for years has FINALLY been phased out.. they don’t try hard enough and for that they fall short. The cars they make are beautiful but for the money you could get a German car with more tech and features, so I see why Maserati isn’t as popular as the German offerings.

    • @whispercars306
      @whispercars306 Před 5 lety +3

      You got a detuned 530hp ferrari v8 twin turbo in this maserati. ECU tune stage 1 would get you to 600hp. It looks better and sounds better than the german's, plus no clutch in this maserati.

    Proud owner of a 14 GTS. This is a no frills bonified super-sedan. It’s quite a bit faster than it’s advertised numbers. It’s a technological marvel in terms of power and handling. Driving a car that size shouldn’t be so fun. It’s a blast. Tech wise it’s simple but elegant. It works and is very easy to navigate. My 2014 does not creek as much as this 2018 does, my god. Buy used, they tank in value. BUT BUYER BEWARE. You’re still on the hook for parts to a 150k car. So don’t think your gonna pick up a GTS for 35k and be able to afford it if it breaks... I’m in 6k in services and minor repairs for 2019. Buy used if you can afford the maintenance and enjoy driving one of the most elegant and prestigious cars on the road. It really is a thing of beauty to drive and own. It’s like a needy trophy wife who spends your money. I get compliments and questions whenever I drive it. Mostly from older people...

    1 thing I don't get is, why does everyone want to go with slim wheels? Why the rim size? Those thin wheels make the ride harder for no reason. Never understood the appeal in that...

    Maserati tech is really quite pathetic rather have an XJR for 50k. Cheap ass interior rather get the 2007 Maserati Quattroporte Executive GT with the peanut butter interior and wood trim for 15k not as quick but sounds way better.

    Love the Quattroporte. Elegant, sporting, fast, and unique. Btw, 0-60 is quite a bit faster. See the Car and Driver and Motor Trend reviews.

      thepeeps07 Correct. I have one. Faster than 4.6 by a good margin. My friends Lexus claims 3.9, I’m faster.

      It's in the same class as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A7, BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XJ, and even Porsche Panamera according to "The Car Connection". Quality is certainly not on the same level, but those are the competitors in the luxury full-sized sedan segment.

    I get the feeling that Maserati is more "simplistic" in its technology department because the company just cant afford the tech level of its mainly german competitors.

      Some people like the look of the carbon fiber on the interior of their car. It's nice to look at, not necessarily functional.

    I really love the way you're reviewing this "super car" :D I just can't stop laughing on how you getting bored and disappointed of the interior and the provided solutions (instead of saying that seats are outdated you will say: I wish there's a lil bit more customization haha, but you killed me with this "the steering wheel here is wonderfully simple (..) just has a few buttons and it's really refreshing, and the paddle you don't get that movement -which I like (..) and the wheel it 's a little bigger it seems, but still very nice" haha or talking about time that they just repeated twice that information on both the left and the right side (+ 1 analog + 1 time on main screen just below analog.. =quatrotimed : D) but the things getting more exciting from 10:55 haha
