  • Here's how Rick changes clutch weights with the clutches still on the sled or when he's out on the mountain.

    I like your homemade "clutch holder" tool! What length is that roughly, i'd like to make one! I got a rough idea comparing it to the secondary tool you set it beside but ya.

      Its 3 5/8 “ bent into a 3 1/2 “

      Thats was the question I also had, I am going to install a clutch kit but my sled is at my cabin in the middle of the woods so I’m trying to make it as easy as possible.
      For all of us that’s not in to the imperial system: 3 5/8” ~ 92 mm
      And 3 1/2” ~ 89 mm
      Thanks for a great video, greetings from Sweden.

    If you don't have a clutch holder tool can can use one of the new weights to keep the clutch open by putting it behind the one in the sled. Then rotate it out once you changed the other 2.

    Coupe questions. So theres 3 clutch weights on the sled right? Do you change them all?
    And when people say they are rebuilding their clutches, what does that entail?

    • @DIGIT9
      @DIGIT9  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes 3 weights but might only have to change the bushings if weights are not damaged ! When you “rebuild” a clutch , you replace weights /spring /spider buttons and inner and outer bushings ! Some go as far as spinning clutch faces in a lathe to keep them true ! And of course when all new pieces are installed , getting clutch balanced is a great idea !

    • @DIGIT9
      @DIGIT9  Před 4 lety +2

      Forgot about the rollers in spider , those are a common item that fail as well , and if bushings are shot in your clutch weights , chances are your clutch weight pins are wore too !!

      I bought some clutch weights only to find out two of them were precisely what they should weigh and the other one was .9 g heavier . Would it still be okay to use or would that cause damage to the motor due to the possible wobble from not being balanced

    Is it supposed to be difficult to thread the Tool into the secondary

    • @DIGIT9
      @DIGIT9  Před 4 lety +1

      No , should be some resistance but should screw in by hand !
