3:18 How to know if your insulin resistance is improving
In this video, I want to talk about a question I received from someone who was wondering how to reverse insulin resistance.
What is insulin resistance? - It’s a condition where the cells are no longer absorbing insulin. Without insulin, the cells can’t get fuel, so they’re starving. This makes you crave carbohydrates. A signal is then sent to the pancreas, telling it to make more insulin. The average person with insulin resistance has 5-7 times more insulin than normal.
High levels of insulin can create:
    • Starved cells
    • High blood sugar
    • Damage in the body
What causes insulin resistance? - Overexposure to insulin (chronic carbs and frequent eating)
How do we fix this problem? - The prolonged absence of insulin.
If you don’t fix insulin resistance:
    • You’re not going to experience weight loss
    • You’re going to be hungry all of the time
In my opinion, it takes about 3-8+ months to reverse insulin resistance. My guess is that healthy keto with intermittent fasting is responsible for 90%+ of improvements. Healthy keto provides the key nutrients you need to help speed up the process.
If you want to enhance your results, you can:
    • Add exercise
    • Lower your stress
    • Get more sleep
    • Get plenty of nutrients (zinc, vitamin D, chromium, potassium, magnesium)
How do you know if insulin resistance is going away?
    1. Your hunger is going down
    2. You’re losing belly fat
    3. Your blood pressure is going down
    4. Your blood sugars are good
    5. No dawn phenomenon
    6. You have more energy
    7. You’re satisfied when you eat

Got hit with type 2 in March. Got put on metformin but I was experiencing neuropathy. By sheer dumb luck I stumbled across Dr Bergs video on metformin and increasing the B vitamins. Neuropathy went away. Studied his videos on keto and now I'm down 65 pounds, numbers are down across the board, and I have a stupid amount of energy and I'm never hungry. Dr Berg is the truth.

You know, today I had my cleaning at the dentists and my hygienist said, "Your home care is very good." And I told her I'm on a low carb diet with no sugar (I bought a water pick as well). But really, that was a huge affirmation that the diet and the care is the best not only for losing fat but holistically for better health.

But , “ monitoring your blood sugar “ or blood pressure is vitally important , if you make any changes to your diet or supplement changes !
I personally do everything in writing on a daily bases not only for me but my wife in case of an emergency .

Love the success comments! Dr Berg's videos helped me too. I'm almost ketovoire but did strict no grains, no sugar, no bad oils etc plus intermittent fasting for about 6 months 4 years ago. Dropped the 33 lbs to 120 and have stayed here ever since. Added D3K2 at that time, and never stopped it. In a few weeks my lungs were so healed or restored, I never used the new inhalers prescribed following a winter virus.
I use coconut oil and heavy cream in coffee everyday. Still avoid those sugars and toxins most of the time and like intermittent fasting. I'm 72 and working with 2 paet time jobs.

My BP dropped from a consistent 145/90 to 110/70 within weeks of cutting sugar out of my diet and reducing carbs. My fasting glucose also came down from the mid to high 90’s to the low 80’s. Not a single doctor ever told me that sugar and carbs were responsible for my BP....I found out by accident. That is down right WRONG that people are not being given the right information.

Can’t thank you enough Dr Berg…you are the biggest wake up call in my life. Started cutting carbs and shifting towards keto 8 weeks ago when I was 120kg and all the time I am out of breath, cloths does not fit me anymore, tired all the time, knee problem, can’t run more than 60 sec yes one min only with hear rate reach 165 so quickly..now I am 110kg with one meal a day of healthy keto such avocado, egg, sea bass, salamon, wheatgrass powder, Cheddar cheese, sesame. Now I can run slowly but for more than 60 min nonstop. I have decided to keep doing keto as a lifestyle because I feel very healthy, light, energetic, sleeping very well, and my asthma condition has improved significantly.

I posted this before but I will mention again. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with an A1C of 11.1. I am a male in my mid 60’s. After seeing first hand what medications did to special people in my life I refused the medication. My next A1C test was 8.1. I still refused the diabetes medication. My next A1C test result was 6.1. My next blood test is in a few months. By the way, body fat is no issue, and high blood pressure is no issue. Last week I took a half day hike for over 10 miles with no problem and with much satisfaction. Thanks for your research.

Since reducing carbs my BP and blood glucose has dropped and hunger abated...admittedly to not even Keto levels of low carb either, but reducing potato, rice, Pasta, bread and pastry has had a significant beneficial change. I can easily see how going keto and adding fasting days would push this even further. Great vid👍

Dr. Berg is right! I am in the process after being type 2, then getting pancreatic cancer (the rare, slow-growing type) and having to take insulin daily. I am now taking less than half the insulin I started with after a Whipple Procedure (surgically removing the cancer in all the places it had spread- pancreas, gall bladder, 1/3 of my liver, the duodenum, and some lymph nodes). I do Keto with IF and keep my blood glucose under control.
I cringe when I see diabetics eating sugary, carb heavy foods, then taking massive amounts of insulin to bring their blood glucose down.

For anyone stuck in limbo with insulin resistance. It took me about one and half months to see results on the scale. (I noticed changes to my heart skippes first and no water in the legs anymore)
I started off with 3day fast, followed by a mix of warrior fast, omad and two meals a day. You shouldn't omad at the same time, switch between dinner and lunch so your body doesnt get used to a specific time(it'll burn less fat). You can eat what you want when you eat, eating less carbs will spike insulin less.
I know it's disheartening, but if you keep pushing when you feel lile giving up you'll get there.
Edit: just before I started losing weight I did a bikeride to get my food - the store was closed. So I did about 30 Minutes of light city cycling in my 28/29 hour fasted state and had to wait a bit more for my food delivery to arrive. I still lost weight the next day and it's not stopped so far.

I just want to say I had endometriosis 8 years ago and it diminished after starting low carb: keto, recently been following fitness gurus that claim sugar is not bad, started eating like them a lot of carbs and sugars in my meal frequent meals too, and after 8 years my endometriosis came back, definitely endometriosis is an insulin pancreas liver problem, anyone suffering try no sugar for a couple of months, have one sugar dessert a week if u can’t handle it, but try it and watch your endometriosis disappear.
