Conan still makes me laugh my ass off at times, but Conan + Max made me laugh my ass off pretty much every time they interacted. Their chemistry really was like lightning in a bottle.

I love how he's full of contradictions - his vibrancy while drumming offset by his deadpan behavior while talking, his lack of onscreen chemistry with Conan became a strength and made their partnership work, and how that he was so unfit to be a sidekick made him the funniest sidekick ever.
I remember trying to explain to people that the funniest parts were when Conan and Max just stare at each other. They thought I was mentally disabled. They gave me apple juices and fruit snacks.

@dajianren I don't know, but I miss him. Andy has his moments, but Max's quiet, every-man personality was the perfect balance to Conan's goofyness. I think his non-reactions made many of the jokes funnier.

Maybe it just catered to my demographic and tastes, but I think Late Night in the early and mid 2000s was funnier than anything Carson or Letterman or any other big name host did.
It looked semi-normal just low rez when I made it 10 years ago. It's survived a lot of CZcams format changes since then and become my adorable ugly child.

I grew up watching Conan and Max. Their chemistry was off the charts. The staredowns always had me laughing my ass off.

I actually liked Max better as Conan’s sidekick/comedic foil than Andy.
