    Cat's 'nasal intuition' always struck me as a parody of Counsellor Troi on TNG - the way Picard asks her for an empathic reading of someone on a viewscreen, who is at least thousands of kilometres away. 1:30 lol yep, didn't happen but this show is not above that sort of anticlimactic gag, so your concern was well-founded.
    In the early episodes, Rimmer being an intangible hologram was often a plot-relevant source of pathos and tension. But since S3, as you've certainly noticed, he doesn't really "need" to be incorporeal for any story purposes, and his ghostly form has increasingly been a hassle for them to write around. So, here, they finally write up a way to do away with it permanently. "Aliens" had the technology to give him a body at last, who says Rimmer never gets what he wants? :)

The earlier seasons were a lot more tightly written and didn't rely on such a lazy formula to pad out episodes.

    This episode is one of my favourites, the physical "slapstick humour" is quintessentially British and was used a lot in the old sitcoms & Ealing movies from the 1940's. Both writers are huge fans of the Ealing comedies, as well as Laurel and Hardy and shows like Dad's Army, which most UK comedy writers want to emulate in some way.
    This series is my favourite, mainly because most of the episodes are my favourites, including the upcoming Gunmen of the Apocalypse, which won an Emmy award, the only one given to Red Dwarf. Quarantine from Series 4 is also my favourite, along with Marooned. Shame you don't seem to have liked this series as much as previous ones, will be interesting to see if you like Series 7 because it has divided fans over the years since it was broadcast, as does Series 8.
    We tend not to mention Series 9, as it was an experiment to see if Red Dwarf was still popular and was just a two part series instead of a full one.

    There is a minor possibile continuity error in this episode. It was established in season 2 "Thanks for the Memory" that both Rimmer and Lister had their appendix removed before they met. So why would Lister need another removed now?
    Some fans have theorized that the DNA machine could have returned it when they changed him several times.

    Is it a continuity error, or proof that each series is a different part of the multiverse? Since the multiverse canonically exists in Red Dwarf.
    Lister just had his appendix out, but in Thanks for the Memory, Rimmer remembers having his out twice. Once his, the other Listers memory.
    Each time you notice a set change, or that Lister's prized possession, his guitar, has changed. Multiverse.😅

      @MRMIdAS2k Late reply, but my theory holds.
      Kryten learns to lie in Camille, but lied to Hudzen.
      Multiverse!

      @MRMIdAS2k Před 6 měsíci

      @@choomah Kryten can't lie to Humans, or "Life Forms" in the case of Camille. Mechanoids are fair game.

    It's the Starbug Gals chasing the dwarf. That's how i feel about salad's to, how lister feels about carrot. You know what i feel about salads there for health freaks. It does surprise me they haven't written a space core directives manual/book yet and released it, it would sell masses. You would definitely never hear that kind of directive in Star Trek. The best space core directive ever. Funny thing is someone would have had to have tried that before it became a rule. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

    I liked "Legion"... cool concept and we got lots of new improvements out of the Dwarfer's interaction with him. Never been a fan of Cat's "I smell something..." though... nor the reliance on Space Corps Directives as a cheap ongoing gag. It's beneath Grant Naylor's writing IMO. Although it DID pay off with "Quarantine"...

    I'm so sorry you didn't include the Red Alert bulb joke. There are three moments from TV and movie that I can think of and immediately laugh, that's one of them. I remember watching it when it was broadcast, I don't think we stopped laughing for a solid 5 minutes.
