Can I just say something to you and anyone visiting Italy 🇮🇹… the hand gesture 🤌 u keep doing has kinda a different meaning eg “ What the hell are you doing” “what the hell” or “ I don’t care or give a f**” . FYI
I asked my wife to marry me at a little restaurant just around the corner from Hotel Iris. Trattoria Dona Honesta (The Honest Woman). What a lovely city Venice is. So much history and character. One of the most romantic cities for sure. Thanks for the walkabout Paddy.

Paddy - Your Swiss Alps and Dolomites series were epic. But no matter how beautiful, it was time for a change of scenery. This was a perfect change. So colorful and vibrant! I've been to Venice twice, and love it there. Looking forward to the next one!
Hey Paddy, Venice is special. Nothing like it in the world. Venice is suffering from over tourism, but you can manage to get away from the crowds if you need to. Next time try wandering around the original ghetto. Yes, that's where the word comes from - Venice. It's the Jewish Ghetto which you'll find in the Cannaregio part of Venice not far from the train station. I'm sure you'll be back soon with Miss P. If you are there in July, make sure you're there for the Redentore Feast. Seeing Venice lit up with fireworks is amazing! If you are there in September, the Regata Storica gondola races along the Grand Canal is worth seeing too. Finally, get up as early as possible to see Venice without the tourists. Safe travels. I loved Venice too and would deliberately try to get lost. I found the greatest little cafes and restaurants that way and some of the best food I’ve ever had. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Have thoroughly enjoyed your European series. So amazing. You have inspired me to revisit the Swiss Alps again (been there on short 2 days trips twice), but upon checking current accommodation and local passes prices for a more comprehensive trip of a week, i might give it a miss. Looking forward to seeing your vlog on Venice, a city which we visited 3 x and love still every bit of it. Well done to another self discovering chapter of your life. Venezia is one of the most cities in the world, there is nothing like it . I’m so happy you had a great time there and thank you for sharing with us your experience in the Dolomites and Venice . Wow! Fantastic Paddy! Apparently the best time to visit is November as there is very little tourists. 💞💋
Been twice and it's magical, despite the 500,000 other tourists which do make it very annoying sometimes. It's one of the few places I've been where you can spend all day wandering around without a care in the world whilst constantly smiling like an idiot, thinking of nothing, just blissfully happy to be drinking it all in. A place where you can just "be", and nothing else exists in those moments.
Paddy, you said mistakes but didn't see those, I only saw your happy faces in Venice! Tell us!!! By the way, another lovely series. Love it!
Some of the best advice I was given about Venice was to bring a book. I found a quite area, near a canal, and just sat and read. It was so peaceful as there were no cars or trucks. I could look up from my book and gaze at the beautiful scenery and the occasional gondola going by.

The video quality of your latest videos is amazing. Pretty big difference between the Thai videos which I've been enjoying. I've been to Venice three times as I can recall. But it's been almost 15 years since I was last there, so it was really cool to see what it's like now, especially in such high quality.
Venice looked quaint but incredibly busy at the same time. The palace looked amazing and the bra bar...well, what can I say. Can't wait to see where you are going next. Thanks again for sharing your experiences 👍😉😁

I have so many of ur videos to catch up on. Fun fact: most locals don't live IN Venice proper. They live on the outskirts on the mainland, in an area called Mestre.

Switzerland an then back to the states..was gone 6 weeks..

I've only been to Venice once - during Carnival, which was utter madness but lots of fun nevertheless. But even then it only took a few minutes to get to a side canal or one of the smaller peninsulas/islands to get away from the crowds.
The hand gesture you did to the gondoliere at 19:00 it's the equivalent of saying "wtf are u doing"....
Rule n.1: don't make hand gestures if you don't know what it means lol
I was there in Aug 23 so hot 🥵 so many people was not nice but I still enjoyed it. Stayed two nights late at night when it is the most beautiful NO people around.

Treviso is a great spot near Venice with airport as well. You can find a great apartment like "palazzina trevigiana" or "chiarano home" near the train station and then go by to Venice easily because are only 25 minute of train. Treviso is a super cool city as well, so I think is the best way to visit 2 great city in one trip 🎉
Wow! Venice looked amazing. It would be hard for me to be around so many people. That's expensive for two nights 170 Euro's. I'm just a country boy so those big cities would probably freak me out. I was watching a Funeral ceremony in Thailand and was pleasantly surprised to see your name as a family contributor. That was an amazing ceremony! I'm sure you watched it. Good on ya mate! 85 euro's a night for staying on the Islans in the lagoon is pretty normal price. If you want cheaper prices get out of the Lagoon and stay on the mainland like i did. I stayed in Mestre for 30 euros a night inc parking

Thailand is my favorite country, Venice is my favorite city in the world. I walk everywhere in Venice. Saying "Chow" wears me out. Everyone is so friendly. One of the most romantic cities in the world. You need to bring miss M next time. Spring is a great time to visit, not to many tourist yet. Sorry I missed out on the cocktails. Another excellent video Paddy.

Venice is such a beautiful city. And you're right! just walk 3 minutes and you'll be all alone in places that are a dream come true.
Another point: I know you do not always prepare your trips with a lot of information gathering and documentation, which leads sometimes to epic fails, as in the Swiss Alps between Gimmelwald and Kandersteg. But I'm often surprised by the poor quality of the hotels or hostels you choose. This one in Venice has one of the poorest reputation in the city, ranked 357 on 389 hotels in TripAdvisor.
But maybe you don't really care about lodging...

Taking the water bus (not a ferry). Is not a mistake. You can’t appreciate Venice properly without seeing it from the water, and you can’t get to the outlying islands without taking one (and Burano and Murano are well worth a visit). What you need to do is buy a pass for the number of days you are visiting and then you can hop on and off whenever you want.

I bought the ticket through a local app.
I entered the wrong date by mistake and an error occurred while changing the date, and my purchase was lost. She sent an email to the confirmed email address asking for her ticket to be reinstated and also filed a claim on the support site, but all she received was a repurchase instruction. What should I do? Domestic agencies say they don't know, so they tell me to figure it out on my own.

As soon as you said "I'm going to strip down to my shorts" you've just made your first tourist mistake!
The "heat of the Mediterranean sun"? You'll never have that in Venice, because it's on the Adriatic! Venice is fabulous, but summer is not the best time to go; it's etter to go in the spring or fall. Two days is not enough. Spend more time, get the inclusive ticket for the Musei Civici and a multi-day pass for the vaporetti.
