If there ever was a contest for "The Most Underrated Band Ever", The Smithereens would win in a landslide.
Love it! Belinda is awesome!!!
the combination of these voices wow
This is an awesome song! It's suppose to set put you in a meloncholy mood. I believe it achieves this. The duet in the song with Belinda works very well. I read all of the comments and we have a few Simon Cowls in here that just don't really know good music. This isn't American Idol!
Perfect!
I love this song. Their voices work really well together.
This song really puts you in the '90's with other cool stuff like the X-files, Millenium and chics that wear black sultry clothing. Balinda is totally hot and sexy in this. Everything about this song is enjoyable.
beautiful
Love this song. Pat's voice is so beautiful...have seen the Smithereens many times and he/they are still so GREAT! Hope they make it out to the West Coast soon. "They say the West is nice this time of year."
I forgot about this song. Thanks for the memories of college.
I love this song.
If only I didn't feel like it was written about me.
"when you think that you have one, then the heartbreak's just begun".
Poetry to music.
The only thing I still don't understand is why they weren't more commercially successful than they ended up being.
Nice, nice song...Belinda's features are nicely profiled her. Even the harpsichord w/ the "In My Life" reference...Thanks!
Awesome song and video - their voices sound great together. She has the perfect voice for harmonies, and they are a great band.
So damn glad to see this cid - only heard the song on the radio in the 80s!
I loved this whole album!!!
I went down to my local Caldor store to buy it on Vinyl when it came first come out.
Always loved the Beatles-esque harpsichord solo on this one.
"My apathy is tragedy, I'm content to stay inside. This emptiness is killing me, I can run, but I can't hide...." I always loved their simple, yet very well-written lyrics. Paired with that VOICE, and a kick-ass band, that makes for some really well-crafted, beautiful songs. LOOOOOOVE this band! They were the soundtrack to my childhood. Thank god my parents liked good music!
Qué joyota!! montón de cosas que se vienen a la maceta jajaja años sin oirla, siemrpe me llamó la atención el semi plagio de In My Life, y que los Greñaldos de Liverpool no le hicieran arguende. Un Clásico. Thx
Esta canción es hermosa.
This song makes me believe in love again...
Wow, never knew they had a song together. Pretty cool. Thanks for the post.
My favorite album is, was, and always will be "Green Thoughts," which I think is actually out of print now. (SIGH.) But yes, "11" is outstanding and I remember listening to it (on cassette! LOL) for the first time in the fall of 1989 and just being blown away by it. The first three tracks: "A Girl Like You," "Blues Before And After," and "Blue Period" were just a perfect trio.
what a great song....so simple.
This song should have been better known - fantastic :)
Had this song been on MTV I think it would have done really well.
The "Green Thoughts" album has been reissued. I just bought my CD copy (to replace my worn out cassette from '87) last year.
ah...forgot about cut flowers. another great song!
when this album came out, i believed this song to be the "perfect" single: great lyrics and melody; all the right hooks in all the right places; then wrapped itself up perfectly in just under three minutes. too bad nobody promoted it at the time...
beautiful.
Great song. Has an Elvis Costello tone about it.
rip pat
Such a fine band and the album this came off "Smithereens 11" just rocks like a bitch. Any more from Pat and the boys would be much appreciated.
Can anybody get Pat to sign up for Weight Watchers? Seriously, I want to see them live, and I'm afraid he might end up like Kirby Puckett. They may have been able to replace Mike Mesaros with "The Thrilla", but no one on earth could step in for Pat.
That whatever you call that instrument sounds like the piece in the Beatles In my Life?
Correct me if I have the wrong song title, it was off their Rubber Soul release.
belinda looks so hot in this
"won, not one" what was I thinking?
I knew what I meant :)
In my life the beatles the solo bit?Is that a tribute to the beatles or something? first time i've ever heard this song so that is probably intentional i dont know
New JERSEY, not New York!
