Candlemass was an underrated band that never caught on as they should have because speed/thrash metal was dominating the music scene.
They also feature a very very underrated guitar player, Lars Johansson. Just phenomenal guitar work throughout candlemass catalog, but for me, the solo in this song is his best.
I always liked Candlemass. Some people pick on the lead singer for his operatic voice, but I always thought it was cool.

His voice is one of the main reasons I continued listening the first time I heard it back in the day. Well, firstly I wanted to spot Dead in the video. His voice is amazing though.

For me, it was Messiah Marcolin's operatic singing that made Candlemass unique.
This dude had the sweetest looking 'fro in the metal game. I would have been more of a Candlemass fan had he stayed in the band because his vocals and dance moves were awesome.

I actually would have like newer Candlemass more if Johan stayed from the first album. I wouldn't say that Johan's vocals were objectively but I just prefer them

Messiah Marcolin is what you might get if you spliced the DNA of Meatloaf and King Buzzo and the seed grew up worshipping the dark arts of the occult.
But the guy has an incredible amount of power in his voice. The kind of quality that could shake the paint loose from the fucking ceiling, and Candlemass wrote the proverbial book on Doom Metal.

messiah reformed with candlemass in 2005 self titled album you know what...you cant buy it anywere at the moment and if so its over 100$$ thats so unusual wont even show up on google

Maybe not startet, that should Black sabbath be credited for, but Candlemass was definitly pioneers of the genre and probably named it with the title of their firts album.
A great song, as usual from the golden years of Candlemass. But a shitty video, probably with a very low budget, as a undergruond band at that time.

You forgot to mention , Per Yngve Ohlin (Dead) (Morbid and Mayhem ) in this video - and the band is from Sweden. sooo, goes to show you know anything about metal, doom, or this video.. do your research and stop reviewing bands you know nothing about. Hai, this was a requested video so I had never seen the music video before. Also I never claimed to be a metal expert. I consider metal my fav genre of music but that doesn’t make me an expert. I just like the music. If I did research on this requested video beforehand it would not be a blind reaction. Thank you for helping me in the algorithm with your comment!
