There’s some live videos of SA back in the late 90’s back when Rob was at his prime- Black Castle, Seeds of the Desolate, the Hourglass, and White Ship. Saw them live at the Limelight in NYC back in I think it was ‘94. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to.

Yes! Love me some Candlemass! Another great doom band you should check out is Solitude Aeturnus.Their songs Seeds of the desolate,Mirror of sorrow and Pawns of anger are amazing.Robert Low the vocalist is one of the best singers in metal IMO
Great choice. There are some phenomenal singers in the doom genre. You might also like the song "Psalm 9" off the debut album of the same name by the American group Trouble, from 1984.

Great reaction guys! I love Candlemass. Listened to this album "Nightfall" alot when it when I was in high school. A good contrast to some of the faster bands like Bathory and Celtic Frost that I also loved in the 80's.
this is one of my 2 alltime favourites of them...know every word after decades, still...my choice for any blind audition I would be invited to ( which of course will never happen )
Insomnium - The Primeval Dark//While We Sleep...most people do just While We Sleep and just that song alone seems to just kind of drop on your head, but that's due to it blending in from the end of Primeval Dark. Lyrically deep, musically melodic.
Another doom metal band you should definitely check out is Swallow the Sun. They just came out with a new album. I would recommend "Upon the Water" off their new album "When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light."
The thing about doom metal is that after every song I hear I need something a bit more up-tempo, in this case I'm gonna listen to Burning Witches - Executed right after this. Had that song in my head all day anyway.

@@mattmcgovern6591 I can't argue against how any one song influences you, as it is 100% subjective/personal and this song seems to move you the most, why it's an obvious choice for you. I will say though, that the effect it has on you sounds anything but good/positive.

Nightfall is an album that in my opinion has to be in everyone's that's love metal collection , it is a masterpiece of doom metal!

The Candlemass albums with Low are also pretty good, unfortunately he has absolutely no stage presence contrary to Messiah.
