I’m melting, Sir. Thanks for the virtual visit.
That is amazing, you have to be lucky to have such shop near by.
I’m also near that shop, been inside several times and it really opened my eyes (and ears) to vintage audio. I love when they do live testing and sometimes you get to listen to some amazing gear being played casually. The prices are high but you don’t get the lottery of buying old equipment especially pre 90s, and some good advice on pairing etc.
What a great video! I loved it. Showed loads of gear we’d never see in the US. Stuff like Sugden, Quad, etc..great looking old speakers. When I see them I think of US equivalent brands like A/D/S and Advent.
Ooooh! Awwww! Incredible! Thanks for sharing.
A real treasure trove Sir many thanks for sharing I can spend my entire vacation in Charing Cross Road (for the bookshops) and in a shop like Audio Gold plus some recordshops All in all my idea of paradise.!
Thanks for the walkabout Kelvin - some fascinating vintage kit on show there. I'm sort of glad I don't live in London any more as you'd never get me out of that shop!
Thanks for showing us around Kelvin.Stay safe and God bless.
Great shop and service. I bought my Thorens TD-160 MKII there. I was able to try out different cartridges and found the right one for me. 👍🏼👍🏼
Make special visit to shop whenever in London, always a treat. Great vintage gear and vinyl records.
What a lovely trip down memory lane, if only I had a time machine, but there the next best thing
In a London area audio shop. love it
I would be like a child in a sweet shop I wouldn't know where to look first, really enjoyed this video Kelvin many thanks. 👍
Bought a few bits from there. Headphones (new) for dad. Nice old Sony headphones for wife. New Wharfedale speakers for me. Old tape deck for me. Great shop. Really great staff.
I have driven past this store while @ work many times over the last 7 years, & have always wanted 2 have a look around.
Smashing video seeing all this old stuff
Great shop, but you'll pay top dollar.. you get what you pay for though. I love my Ditton 66's, the domed mid is an absolute beast, and weighs a ton, you know it's gonna be good when you hold it. Also, those Mourdant Short Pageant 2's, they are an amazing speaker. Not all MS speakers were good, but they really were a cracking model, and well worth buying if you have the chance. .. nice work, Kelvin, i enjoyed that perusal.
@peter Grahame .. they sound amazing with Chrome Bumper Naim.
Nice video Kelvin, a trip down memory lane for me, seeing all that gear that I used to covert as a youth. Quad has had some longevity hasn’t it. Desirable back then and still so now, same with Sugden.
What a shop.
Love the old stuff.
Didn't see any Altec Voice of the theatre speakers though for that really good vintage sound.
Good collection all the same.😊😊😊😊
What a gold mine, love it. I could spend hours in there!
What a big collection of high end hifi stereo equipments like amplifiers, receivers, tuners, turntables and speaker systems!! What i did not see here are the open reel tape decks and cassette decks. Almost all of them seems to be expensive British or European brands. Some unaffordable.
I am a man living in South Asia but i wish i can go there to London to see and explore!
Thank you for the tour!
What an amazing shop , thanks very much for bringing us along for the ride. Some really amazing gear in there, I think I would live in there if that was round the corner from me . Really excellent content
Kelvin, I’ve been enjoying your videos as someone in the US who likes to recondition vintage speakers that are worth salvaging from the rubbish heap. It’s great seeing the vintage pieces of UK gear that I’ve been hearing about for 40 years but haven’t seen much of in the states. Keep up the great work.
I still like my SME headshell with the 3009 Mk_II (improved) arm. I even purchased second one many years ago before they became "collectable" on ebay.
I'd be like a kid in a candy store, not too many of those over in the states 👍
Kelvin l could spend days in that shop! Fantastic vid mate brilliant!
I was drooling when I saw those Linn tables.
Bloody hell, I miss walking around there!
Hi kelvin, nice video. Best wishes, Richard.
Love your channel, keep up the reviews of vintage audio 👍🏻
I brought a set of AlR Jordan Speakers for a home cinema system in 2006 from Audio Gold when I was living in Crouch End. Still going strong.
I hope when lock down ends I get a chance to visit them again. It’s a brilliant shop with fantastic staff. I have always had a positive experience.
Lucky you to live so close! Right on!
Top trip as allways, so enjoyable, thanks dear
Thanks Kelvin. I very much enjoyed your tour around this store. I hope you do more of these, with a mention of the prices being asked for some of the different gear, if possible.
Great video Kelvin, thank you!
I'll definitely be popping into the shop once it's back open
Thankyou for a fascinating video, and glad to see the love for Ditton 66
Love that shop, it's been too long since I was last there...thanks for the tour!!
Yay! Field trip!
Brilliant trip down memory lane! My Exposure XI XII, VIII is still my main amplifier - beautiful fluid, detailed musical sound. I just got a new DAC and I hear even more detail now. There's more life in the old girl yet - next upgrade some tasty cables. All the best, Rob
Put your amp power cable direct to mains without sharing sockets will sound 10 times better. All other power leads to other socket.
Wonderful. It was great to wander round the shop with you. As a man of a similar age I loved seeing the products - some of which I owned or still own. I bought Celestion Diiton44s in 1975 - and still ran perfectly when I dispached them in 2017. I was GIVEN as a nieve 17yr old a Thorens TD166MkII on a homemade plinth, but I like you didnt give it enough time and got rid of it , I still shout at myself once a year for that. So thanks again for this lovely trip round the store - so much so Im going to make trip down after lockdown and visit it. Cheers
Awesome tour - thanks!!!
Thanks for providing a super visit, keep safe and keep up the great work
Interesting store! Thank you for the tour!
Great shop and really helpful staff. Well worth a visit.
Stereo review X, greetings. Thanks for showing these golden treasure. When I see these beauties which lead me to an emotional meltdown. Can't resist. I will share this to my friends. Again thank you.
thank you for this video, and the shop location. :-)
What an amazing shop! Love to go there and enjoy myself, all my hi fi is generally vintage and to me it sounds amazing and more natural than modern stuff
What a place. Great that they loan you some gear.
I used to live in Pembroke road near here . My Arcam cd , amp and Acoustic energy speakers were my kit at that time
Bang and Olufsen now
We have a similar hifi shop in Nelson Lancashire Wilkinson hifi!!👌
Hi Gary I have also visited Wilkinsons an ab fab shop with very helpful knowledgeable staff with 2 well equipped workshops and listening rooms and good mix of new and vintage I aqired a pair of Concertos last year and Sugden A48 R51 combo so pleased to know of this shop love visiting,
I'm sure the record deck is a project one. Great video been watching your channel a while now keep up the good work.
What a shop not seen anything like that before it reminds me of richer sounds when they first opened kit stacked everywhere but mainstream manufacturers
Pure treasure, cheers Kelvin
Muswell Hill home of the Kinks. Love shops like this. Thanks Kelvin , great vid. Having a Quad point one pre amp serviced at the moment , to drive my Leak 20 power amp and my Quad ESL 57s. If it don’t work out . I will get down to Audio Gold to buy something special.
A stroll through memory lane. Growing up in the 70's-80's my dad was heavy into stereo equipment. I wish I had all of it but I did manage to get a good portion of equipment I keep in my stereo room. I had and having all of my equipment refurbished, my old wood speakers redid the wood...almost done!
⭐️ “...doesn’t say what it does on any box....great...” 😂😂 this is my kind of review - subscribed ⭐️ 👍
If that shop was near me I'd always be broke, thanks for the video!
Great video thanks for sharing!
That open reel beauty caught my eye when he first walked in (1:23)
Incredible store, you’re a very lucky man to live so close. I live in upstate New York and I have two shops and the one rarely has used gear and the second shop is mainly a repair shop that also sells a small selection of used gear but nothing new except replacement parts and cables and wire type gear. Vintage gear is making a huge comeback here in the states so maybe a new shop will pop up or the two here will start to get more stock. Thank you and great video.
Great tour
This is amazing! I'd love to have a shop like this near by. I'd probably go broke, but very very cool.
super super video. Oh if only we had a shop like this still in Brum. We had a dealer called Griffin Audio. Never forget Bob Griffin I think he was called on Bristol Street. He dissuaded me from spending all the money I had as a young man and sold me a lovely used Cyrus one I still have now. Bought my rega 3 from him. I was an art student at Stourbridge art college and Bob had art in his hi-fi shop, like big oil paintings. In Birmingham in the 90's that was something to see.
This video is like being a kid in a sweet shop. Great stuff Kelvin.
Should pop in that shop soon or later 😁 thanks for shearing with us
I really enjoyed your Visio. In the 70’s my brother was really into stereos , I used to enjoy the big receivers “ Yamaha or Technics ,Denon, Sansui “they as the heavy tuning dial that spin freely through the stations. Really good sound.
Allways wanted to go there.
Vintage heaven. I wish places like this existed where I live. The only place that existed near me was at a flea market and it just shut down.
Thanks very much for this..
My dad used to have quad 303 amps. Pre amps and power amp. He had celestion ditton 66 and thorens 160b mk2 turntable. Dream kit. Great video.
Classic equipment
Audio paradise! My head would explode if I went there, I'd have to take out a 2nd mortgage on my house and I don't even own a house.
Thanks for sharing, Kelvin. I know I'd have to leave my wallet at home if I dared venture in there! Brilliant stuff 😄
Drooling ripe fruit, wonderful, hands on you own it,unlike where we seem to be heading.
Makes a nice change to see you out and about, especially during lockdown 🤪.
Looking at the price tags on their website reminds me of the old gag “The items are oldey worldy but the prices aren’t old fashioned!”
The Tannoy speakers at 8.00 minutes are Tannoy Eaton Legacy speakers - I've got a pair!
lovely staff in there, stuff to suit every budget too.
Bottom of Muswell Hill! My folks used to live in Crouch End. Nice to know there’s still specialist shops round there. Those lovely names from the 1960s and 70s: Quad, Sugden, Rogers, Spendor .... very, very thankful for a bit of memory lane.
Some incredible vintage high end audio stuff here in this shoppe. Can't find any place in the USA quite like this!
Just bought some Ditton 44's, will collect after lockdown, can't wait!
Once I got Dittons I won't settle for less than 12" woofers, especially those ones. Wonderful doped paper units!
good speakers, had 3 or 4 pairs over the years (and still have a pair in storage) heavy heavy bass that can only be reproduced by a huge 12" woofer
Just gently tighten the driver mount screws
I have ditton 442s which are basically an updated 44.
(Also have 44mk1s in storage...)
Fab speakers
@@dazasc3994 modern active subwoofers producing way deeper bass.
When everything back open I’m going to visit the shop as I live in sw London
Great video. Keep it up
Love watching this video will have to pop down there one day I live in Huntingdon and in the day we were the town for Audio for quad mission cyrus audiolab meridian tag mclaren. So miss the day of the hifi culture sold all mine but now looking to get a turntable and seeing those linn sondek lp12 had me drooling
L👀k forward to visiting next time I'm in London...
.
Very good video. I have visited Audiogold many times. In Oct 2019 I listened to loads of classic speakers under £1000 price point. Very close to getting Celestion 33 but was played Imf ts 50 & they sounded amazing . Fantastic price as well . If you want something unusual & classic its worth a visit. It's always worth looking at Retrotech & HiFi Hangar as well. I have bought equipment from all 3 . Btw they sell vinyl as well.
I think you have rifled through my old hi fi history ,quad, leak, thorens, tannoy .
That Trio receiver with a Guitar input is amazing. I must have it...
I'd spend my life there. I love it.
I love my Kef 201/2 with a NAD M2 and 2 SVS subs, they played muicc the best I'd heard and loud coherently way beyond what I can tolerate and
I walked in to the back room one day and the sound I heard coming from some valved BBC types broke that illusion.
Heaven.
Great to see the Celestion Ditton 66, we’ve got a pair :-)
Think I also spotted a Tascam RTR, love the big RTR machines.
Holy hell!.i wish i could.go to a place like that in here
Nice video, great HiFi gear, nice shop.
Only bummer is the prices
This is definitely a place to visit for vintage enthusiasts. It was actually here that I heard the Setton RS-440 for the first time and became quite intrigued that receiver and the collection (RS-220, RS-440, RS-660). I haven't found a better shop around London... probably doesn't exist. But this is indeed the place to visit.
Dream shop. I noticed the Meridian 600 series Beautiful 602/606 Transport/DAC combination. I have some mint 605 mono's if they want them to make a set? Swaps for vinyl ;-).Thanks for the great tour.
Hiya Kelvin …. Super addictive channel you have … LOVE IT …. Maaaaasn you need to do an open / Live CZcams STREAM AMand have a QnA SESSION As you knowledge is vast and very much respected my friend …. QUALITY ALL THE WAY … keep on keeping on … I could not help but notice the shop had a favourite bit of kit that my late Father loves and that was the aiwa mini combo 22 series …. SUPERB … Kelvin your the Man …. HAPPY DAYS … this is LONDON BERMONDSEY CALLING 👍
Wow! Just wow!
That was fun. Thanks Kelvin.
I would love an EMT player. I used them in my radio studio days, Beautiful things
Very cool!
This should have been titled 'Kelvin Goes To Heaven'. Another great video.
What a cool place, we have the fantastic RPM Analog here in the West Midlands ran by Richard March. He’s just moved into a new larger premises and has a vast array of vintage products.
On the LP12, there’s no real connection with the Thorens or AR decks as often stated, other than the fact that they all have three point suspension… the Ariston RD11 however, there’s a whole controversial history there… still, I love my LP12.
Amazing, I need to take a trip down the A406
Hey Kelvin great video l just bought A NAD 7125 receiver love that British pipe and slipper sound so smooth on the top end. It sure has a suductive sound and it's only 25 watts.
Yes and I bet those 25 W are just fine
Great video Kevin👍
Thanks 👍
