So now with it, Im able to play at 80-55 fps in Ultra low quality on and Im pretty happy with it, I also use it for graphics design and it works well tbh. Its was the 1gb version but it worked enough for me with and low setting game when I couldn't spend more money.

    Notice that this is a PCIe x8 card. This means it can work in some odd places where you don't have the full x16 physical interface available, for example on a motherboard where there is already a more powerful nVidia card in there and you need a few more displays than that card supports.

  • @infopackrat
    @infopackrat Před 4 lety

    It used to be you'd voltage mod a video card by putting a multi turn variable resistor between where the card is reading the voltage and where it's coming from. By increasing slowly the resistance in between the voltage feedback circuit thinks it's lower than it actually is and will add more voltage. You need a volt meter connected to know how much you're increasing it though.

  • @jasonc3a
    @jasonc3a Před 4 lety

    Fun fact: I own a Zotac 710 graphics card, and it does in fact have a legitimate use. It is EXTREMELY cheap, and it comes in a version that fits into a PCIe x1 slot. If you build your own router (pfsense or linux or whatever) out of cheap hardware, you will soon find the urge to stick as many possible 1000 Mb/s NIC cards into the case as possible. This usually means using a board that has many PCIe slots, but also no onboard video. Sacrificing a x8 or x16 slot for a graphics card during initial setup basically undoes the advantages you got by having a board with so many slots (you will lose about 4 gigabit ethernet ports), so a cheap card only taking up a x1 slot is actually IDEAL in this particular use case.

  • @ThomasWinders
    @ThomasWinders Před 4 lety

    It's hard even to define it a "graphics card", since integrated graphics from a cpu is quite more performing. The cap for OC here is the limited power delivery offered by the PCI-e slot, as you said in the video.

    • @fattomandeibu
      @fattomandeibu Před rokem +1

      I think that's an issue with the GT 710. They pack it like a gaming card and people try to game on it.
      The real use of a GT 710 is when you have an elderly relative with an old Core 2 Quad with on board graphics so bad, it can't play CZcams videos at higher than 480p(that's not a joke, this is from personal experience from my 70 year old dad's computer), but otherwise, runs perfectly fine for what they do. Drop in a GT 710, which has hardware video decoding up to 1080p and it's stopped the old coot going out and spending £400 on a new computer he doesn't need.

    plus you can have more fun on older cards since you won't get upset when/if you kill them.

    My proudest "overclocking" moment was back when I knew basically nothing about computers and "upgraded" my Radeon 9600 Pro to an nVidia 6500 or something.
    Was so long ago that I long forgot, and I don't even have that computer anymore.
    I was actually able to unlock GPU LANES in this card. It shipped with two of six lanes enabled. After finding the special utility, I was able to get two more lanes enabled.
    The last two lanes were actually defective, with one of them causing severe artifacting, and the other causing a point light to flash on screen before crashing the entire PC.

While some might say that it's a bad card, other things that are good about are the fact that it does what the onboard graphics card doesn't have to. Now I want to see all of this stuff applied to a GT 1030 2GB OC (the one with active cooling) :D

      IKR? The 1030 2GB GDDR5 is the real low end beast!

    At first, I thought that the cheapest new graphics card may be the ddr4 version of the GT1030. Perhaps the GT 710 might be ideal for something like my Sony Vaio desktop PC that has a Pentium D 820 from 2005 and it does have a PCI express slot.

    At 2:22 I was confused because I just turned around to grab some chips and then looked back at my phone and wondered if I'd accidentally rotated my screen 180 degrees.

    Hey, I don't mind the GT 710. I got 100 fps on Minecraft with it, on an HP Elite 8000 sff PC, lol. I did get the 2GB GDDR5 version, at $50 USD. It was not bad for its price, and hey, it ran Fortnite at 30 fps on all low settings and low resolution, but at least it ran, and it was "somewhat" usable (I don't use it anymore, I have a much better gaming laptop now, but I still have that PC)

    There is a bit "B" in GB. Gb means gigabit. And there is a big "H" in Hz. Big "V" in V (as in short for volt).

    Wonder if you can try a Radeon W3100 graphics card, it runs rock stable , pretty nice small formfactor specially very handy for workstation and server use. The thing is i tryed several tools to overclock it but it seems to have things locked, i know not much about gpu so maybe theres a trick to unlock the card.
