hello
im sneakymind in your twitch streams
Progressive skins aren't bad. What is bad is that pubg doesn't support it's true base of players. People who have played since it's beginning and are the base of pubg. They don't let us sell any skins online because they are cheap and they don't realize that this money would come back to them. I used to always use money I made from skins to get the season pass.
Now you get your points, and they give really bad skins and you wait to get white boots or something silly. They need to support their long term players if they want this game to live on. Progressive skins should be able to be obtained without having to pay, just to work at it.. and also be able to sell and they would make money off of people who love pubg and want to support it. I haven't bought a season pass since they've been so stingy.
In pubg's bid to keep making money off the game, they don't realize that if they don't support their long time users and just make it good for us to play, that there will be no player base eventually. And it's too bad.... pubg is by far the best game I've ever played.
sorry wacky youtube does not like name Gambling in title, this video might get problems i think
The Idea and the system themself are good. I also use skins in games and I like to have an individual charakter and individual weapons. In games like Forza Horizon I spend like half the time creating individual looking cars. So if I´m given the option to customise anything, I sure will do! The big problem is the price. In CSGO for example the price on skins can get totally out of hand, like you said and I never will do that, but there are also some skins that cost a couple of cent to one or two Euros you can buy on the steam market and I got some of them. But in PUBG it´s also all way too expensive in my opinion and I´ll never spent a high amount of money on the skins. And that it is random lootboxed, where I don´t know what I get for my money makes it a system I won´t spend real money on. There is stuff I´d like to have in PUBG, but the price is too high for me.
Thats also the reason why I´m a little annoyed by the menue of the game; Like half of the functions are somehow related to the cosmetics you can buy and there are like 5 or more different ingame currencys for that. PUBG is one of my favourite games, but they really need to make it only one or two ingame currencys and just one "Shop" area, instead of serveral areas and dozens of popups leading to that. I´m okay with the game at advertise the skins and all, but please don´t overload the game with commercials for that!
You know we have a problem in gaming when people argue that 400 dollars for a maxed out skin is reasonable.
Yeah nothing short of pure greed, I respect wacky for being impartial though he seems to know not to get in hot water.
@@caesaria Yes, the person in the video that you are commenting under.
I thought he was joking at first when he said that as a reasonable number lol. If your'e out there paying $400 for a skin.......dude......
Agreed
400? Didn't he say it's up to 1700 dollars for one?
I've played PUBG since 2017 and I still have no idea:
- Where and how can I use my polymers?
- How to even get the progressive skins
- I've opened like million boxes that supposedly have progressive skin items in them and never got any. None. :D It doesn't matter that much though since I'm not that much into skins.
you need the polymers combined with schematics to upgrade lvls in the progressive skins. If you have never unlocked a progressive skin, it's no wonder you have no idea where to spend it. I've got one, out of my many many crates
Yep, playing since 2018, no regressive skins so far :). so schematics and polymers are just sitting there. But exactly how you put it, I dont mind. Cosmetics are called cosmetics for a reason. Looks cool (sometimes), adds no value. meh.
Im also an old school player and i never packed a progressive skin or schematics...
@@sayarduttabiswas Haha Yeah sometimes. Most progressive skins are butt ugly though. So not really sorry for not hitting anything
same here.its just big scam, only partners have these stuff or those who spend more than 1000$
the Netherlands has banned gambling from all games. Gaming companies would never do this out of themselves, because there is so much money in it. It's a shame really, we don't need gambling in games but rather progressive rewards to keep people playing.
Did they ban PUBG?
@@marionetteworks not the game, the crates etc. that are based on luck.
@@Samsonite1991 Oh, in Netherlands you don’t have the pay-for creates in the game? How nice.
agreed! like battlebits remastered! feels like a fun grind and the rewards for your work are great
@@marionetteworks but then you can't get the skin no? but it's a good ideea
Because I've been watching Wacky all this years from time to time, this video really felt like an old friend who shared his deep thoughts. And I am sure I am not the only one here who feels like this.
I remember starting pubg, opening free crates, finding a rare item and basically earning 120$. It was fun, inexpensive and a nice experience. But its also harmfull. I have also seen friends spend way to much on these crates to the point where they basically could only eat noodles for the rest of the month...
I had the same experience in Rocket League. Developers of "games" try to hook you and pull ppl into habitual gambleing. Thank you very much for your comment. It really helps when ppl share informations like these. Have a good day!
Gambling is addictive
I totally agree with you! And especially the “gambling“ part has gotten a lot of attention here in Germany the past few years as online gambling is illegal here. I think the system needs to keep the very fine balance between fun and not becoming a literal online casino like CS:GO. This is definetely an important topic that needs to be adressed more in the future
Why is it illegal? What’s wrong with gambling?
@@imnotallergic Just online gambling id illegal as it can't be monitored a well as gambling "irl"
@@imnotallergic Skin Crates are gambling because you'll never know what you get and you cant see if the Gambler is underage or not when He buys crates for Skins
@@yodaspadawan6085 No front but online Gambling is since this year allowed in Germany !!!! You dont see all the tv commercials ?
@@ItsSlmba No, I don't watch tv. (I watch youporn/youtube/xhamster/twitch).
The problem in this game, as you've mentioned, is that the top tier of skins costs an obscene amount of money - to rank up to the top tier they expect players to spend around $1700 which is like a months wages for some people.
Sadly, top streamers, e-Sports pro's & whales are buying these and it's making it look "OK" in the eyes of pubg. There are many players who have played this game since it launched, who can't afford to pay this amount of money and either don't bother with skins or are having to resort to gambling with coupons either by buying them with G-Coin (which costs money) or by using BP - which is getting even harder to obtain and utterly useless in this game now.
They're shoe-horning players down the route of having to put their hand in their pocket.
Another sad and alarming thing about this game is that some G-coin packages don't *appear* to cost that much. It might be a couple of dollars, but susceptible players will likely buy multiple $9.99 G-coin packages, which could end up being a lot of money if they get hooked - especially more likely if they're lucky to win something early on - They'll continue to chase this thrill & hope they win again. I would imagine for some of these players it's so easy to spend $100 in a couple of weeks - which for some people is a lot of money which should be going towards bills and food...
The fact this game implements a gambling system and doesn't have an in-game spend limit is both astonishing and reckless imo. They should at the very least have an option in-game to set a spending limit within a certain timeframe - Eg: $10 per week - and at least have it so that if they remove the spend limit that it takes 72 hours to take effect. This would at least help reduce the impulsive spending or buying of items. In fact I think this should be an option in Steam - I dont believe there is one currently (unless I'm mistaken).
Why PUBG is so aggressive with it's monetary strategy is baffling. Why they think pricing the average player out of their items is a good move, I've no idea.
If they had progressive skins and could be topped out at $400 I'd imagine more players would purchase these - obviously they could still have skins that are topped out at 1500 but at least make progressive skins in general more obainable by playing the game - Gcoin, coupons for chicken dinners, kills, etc... BP gain is too low and utterly pointless at this stage in the games life and should probably just be removed.
Overall I think the entire store, hideout, workshop, currencies, polymers, blueprint system in this game just needs a complete re-work to simplify it. I've played this game since 2017 and couldn't explain to anyone how polymers or blueprints are used - along with all these new cache boxes, and artisan tokens, and whatever else there is (jesus christ there's too many)!
I would like to have special skins for people who are very good at the game. Fox example you get a ticket for every match you win with 10 kills or more. and than you can buy the weapon for 40 tickets. A system like this would be cool i guess.
Skill-based skins would be cool. Excluding bot kills of course! After bots were introduced any achievement feels a little meaningless.
Thats a good a idea. It would motivate regular players to practice more. Skill based skins or achievements. Like in BF you get medals even for dying to much.
@@bynlb the already where skill based skind in the missions before. but they stopped doing this. It realy motivated me to play and win. but it wars to easy for better players.
@@sherlockhogan6078 oh yeah, i forgot the beryl challenge. We need that!!!
Hey Wacky, keep at this topic as much as possible and raise it with other content creators as well as with PUBG. We might finally see some light.
Glad to see you talk about this Wacky 🤝
That would be very very cool if they changed it to be able to earn the lvls in game by playing! Like 50 kills to lvl 2, 100 kills starting over to lvl 3, 100 kills and 50 headshots to lvl 4, 5 kills a game for 50 games to lvl 5. Like have challenges per lvl and make them not easy but not ridiculous. Make it fun to have something to work for.
they should add a non reversible block function for buying progressive skins with gcoin for people who have addiction like you can block yourself from all casinos in vegas
I have 800hrs in pubg and have spent every contraband coupon I have earned on cases for progressive weapons + spent hard earned cash on g-coin for cases but have yet to acquire one. I have decided to not waste any more money on this game that I love and decided to only use contraband coupon for loot. Thank you wackyjacky101 for addressing this issue and I really hope they make cosmetic items more accessible. oh and wacky 3:15 400$ for a maxed out skin? still way to much imo.
400 dollars for pixels on a screen?😂
5 to 10 dollars should be the price range.
Exactly, 400 dollars is still way too much. The game itself costs 30 in 2017...
Nah, cuz then it wouldn't be special, and therefore noone would want them.
Fair. But isn't it okay that there exist expensive luxury items whether it being digital or physical? Some people would spend thousands on a luxury brand handbag that has the same functionality as a cheap one!
In my opinion we should not judge what other people find being worth their own hard earned money, but I do agree with your sentiment that progressive skins should be much cheaper than they are today!
@@uk3ndt but is something only special if its expensive?
@@WackyJacky101 agreed 💯 but tbf i also laugh equally at ppl spending so much money on luxury items that are cheaply made but with branding on them😅
Hey Wacky, thank you so much for talking on this topic. I'd really love and play the game more if they add some kind of missions or mastery levels to upgrade levels of the progressive skins. Also thank you so much for being the reason to remove the Blue Chip Detector ❤
Really enjoyed this one. Love to watch you on the BATTLEFIELD and borrow from your technique but also like hearing your take on the game. Keep up the good work 👏
Great video as always wacky!
Only got a k9 progressive skin. High enough to get the kill feed upgrade. It's more expensive than it needs to be. I haven't tried to get any progressives since. I did use some of the in game stuff to choose a smoke coliur and got really lucky with the free tickets to get the smoke launcher colour. But I've been avoiding spending money on pubg for awhile. Just feels unnecessarily expensive.
How to use weapon slot in "Erangle Remastered" lobby? I am able to see weapon slots in "Survivour Base" lobby.
I'm an avid default skin enjoyer. The optimal solution is having the monetary value of each skin clearly presented, rather than some virtual currency designed purely to obfuscate the amount. Second to this is removing any chance based purchases. If what you buy isn't what you will use in-game, then it shouldn't exist and is only there to encourage a sunk cost fallacy. As an adult, if you want to open some crates, take your cash to the casino and pull some levers to be able to purchase the skin you want directly.
7:43 - You draw the line wherever you need it sergeant (Captain Price voice)
Great video!! I wish there was a limit on how many duplicate items you can receive. I dont mind having rare items but getting 50 of the same thing becomes stale fast.
Yep. Purchased ten crates and got FIVE fucking Desert Digital Kar98s... I was furious and it's bullshit.
Another very good video. Thanks very much. A very sensitive subject. With many different opinions. I think you explained it very well. We simply have to protect the younger ones, because this generation is confronted with it everywhere online. It must not appear as if gambling is something normal and great. It's a fine line.
Thanks Wacky
I would like to see a duplicate protection system. Get 10-15 of the same skin then you can turn them in for a tokin or something that locks that skin from the loot pool. Or see some type of loot guarantee. Open 10-20 crates then the next will be a garanteed high level skin or clothing item.
Then the whole crate idea is pointless. Might as well just make it a step up system instead at that point.
I've been playing this game since beta and haven't bought a mottled skin with real money and it's possible to live and play normally - I recommend it.
M25, been playing on console since free to play; got lucky and got the pink SLR progressive skin and i have no idea what to do with polymers or how to obtain scrap
I think it's pretty sad that pubg's coolest skins are locked behind such a big paywall, I've bought some battle passes and in most games I play I am not completely free to play, but 1700 for one cosmetic is straight up mega whale territory. In general I prefer games where most people chip in moderate amounts of money to support development and everyone gets to enjoy all the features. Unfortunately that's just not how our capitalist world generally works, but it's really cool when games pull it off.
I don't mind buying DLCs to support a game that i like and keep it fresh. Buying these useless skins for this kind of money however is completely crazy. But it seems some people don't mind spending so much money on it, meaning they have a ton of disposable income. So, take this money and buy a useless skin, or donate the money to a charity? Or to help a friend in need, support an artist, buy a gift for a loved one? Personally i couldn't spend this much money on a skin, it would drive me insane.
Sorry for the little rant 🤣
Great topic to discuss Wacky! I have never payed for any skins so far in Pubg since i play from 2018. For me this is a waste of money on cosmetics that don't add to the gameplay. I have opened crates of course and got cool rare skins, but never a progressive one. I would really like to have a greater chance of getting one even if you don't pay, but the chances are really low. So i would also make it 2 ties, by having one where you can pay, and one for the free player to grind. Or at least giving out to loyal players who have been playing for a long time.
But i have the same problem as i'm also a parent of 3, that how to protect my children from getting on this train. I think it can be solved by honest communication with your children, so they don't abuse these systems, but that is just one side, i think game makers has the responsibility here as well.
I agree with you :) I have spent maybe 15€ in skins, but i used the Steam marketplace, so i'm supporting fellow gamers instead! 🤣 Of course now we can't sell skins there, pubg blocked it, so new skins are worthless :( I like the marketplace dynamic, instead of these worthless crate skins. But they don't make money from the marketplace, so that's why they stopped it. Greedy pubg
I have also not paid for a skin or battlepass either. I just don't think they are a good value. I did randomly unlock the Over the Rainbow M24, but I have not been able to level it even once. I have 5,000 polymers and 1 schematic but you need TWO schematics to level it.
Ocelot: "Engravings...give you no tactical advantages whatsoever"
I think you are on the money @WackyJacky101 . I especially like the concept of upgrading the cosmetics of your weapon as you become more skilful playing with them etc. What a great way to get people to not only want to play more but also try out more weapons in game and spice things up a bit. I can't say I disagree with a word you said from this video. Great stuff! Food for thought, I hope Krafton sees this :D
Make more CZcams content bro , your the best! :* from Romania with love ;)
I started playing pubg again after a 3 year pasue and immediately got 2 progressive skins. All the crates i opened i got for free from Battlepass and free contrabands from events. Am i just really lucky? I have opened about 15-20 crates.
Yes, that is very lucky. I have one prog. skin after 5 years and an ungodly number of hours playtime.
@@andykrikkit Well atleast you have one, seeing some comments here some people are extremely unlucky ):. I usually have amazing pack/opening luck but terrible luck in game so its a matter of balance i guess.
To me, I can't see why they can't have a price tag on it. If not, surely a skill-based progression would be really cool. I'm one of few players that have the"serpents kiss" akm which was something you had to earn within the season. This was also a really good idea
Man, you are the best! finally someone talking about this ❤
Honestly the 'golden kar' idea was all what i want to have in the game, just like how cod is with its mystery camos
guarantee reward is probably one of the best solutions for loot box.
or increasing in chance, or both.
There is a built in guaranteed chance as you accumulate 10 scraps per crate you open and a progressive skin can be bought for 3000 scrap! Obviously this is still too pricey
hey Wacky! Pls talk about the non-existed clan skins, it would be great to get implemented to the game.
In the |Netherlands, the boxes where you have to buy keys for, are not in the game, or you can't open them, something like that, as it is considered as being gambling. You buy something but you don't know what you'll get, that is gambling.
I just use the coupons you get to open some crates. The only time i spent money on pubg apart from buying it, was for the battlepass with the Mclaren in it and that were 10 Euros.
Nice one for pointing out this issue. They have listened to you in the past hopefully they implement some positive changes based off of this video. The line btw is definitely far behind getting to open 20 crates (10 @ time) with $50. it's too much.
I totally agree with you as well. In Belgium there were a lot of changes concerning online gaming/gambling a few years ago. Since you said that the pubg system looks a bit like gambling, well our gouvernement took it serious. For instance we cannot buy the seasons pass anymore because... of online gambling issues... I might be able to, if I would use a VPN connection and buy the pass elsewere, but not into that so no seasons pass for me anymore. I do like the progression system like for instance COD where when you play a lot or get a lot of kills with certain guns you get different optics/camo's. Myself I've been playing pubg since the beginning and for sure I don't have a lot of skins for all sorts (vehicules, parachutes, weapon skins, etc....) Nonetheless we still get to buy crates with our earned BP points to get "always the same camo's...pfff" It would be better if pubf would listen to the community and make its reward system so that you get a different camo or upgrade every time. People who play the game after all these years can be rewarded in a different way then to receive the same camo's over and over again...
Keep up the good work and love your streams !!
I remember when these progressive skins got added to mobile, they gave kill animations and kill feed effects and you could only buy them or get them from crates if very lucky
important topic! Thanks for talking about it.
I very much agree with your take on the upgrade system being a great idea that should be tied with the mastery more. However, I'd say that 400 is still way too far on the expensive side. Each to our own opinions of course - we all have our own situations in life.
I also really like the loot box system, having a chance of hitting something "big". However, I absolutely don't want any part of the boxes themselves to be linked with money: no keys to open them, and no purchasing them from the developer or from other players (see CS:GO crate market.)
In my opinion, the best possible solution is to have multiple methods of obtaining the boxes, e.g. the boxes drop randomly, or you can grind some form of missions for them. Maybe get a box for every Dinner, while being in say top 4 gives your a decreasing chance of obtaining one. This gives the dopamine hit when getting the box through luck, when you finish grinding for the next box, and when opening the box. But then you also have everything in the boxes purchasable directly, with reasonably tiered prices. This levels the playing field, giving everyone a chance to access the same skins.
To combat the amount of too many items to drop, the items would be distributed into different sets (again, see CS:GO crates.) However, the "boxes" would be received as a generic item that you as a player can transform into something else with a more specific loot table. This would allow trying to farm for a specific rare drop more effectively than having all of them in the same loot pool.
i stopped upgrading my 2 skin, it cost alot specially from where im from :(
why is there still no video about the huge new arcade gamemode ???
I agree with your thoughts on parental responsibility. Parenting isn’t a passive activity.
As usual great analitycs!
Man, I love WackyJacky ❤
the schematics just need to drop more often. I have the Tiger Kar98k. After 1500 Hrs gaming its on lvl 4 and Ive spend at least 300 in total. There you have it. I didnt upgrade anything else so I got like 10 schematics in total. Just whould like to have it on lvl 7 but its 15 more schematics and this is never goining to happen... which is sad never beeing able to finish at least on one, my favorite skin. Dont forget all the "coupons" I spend on it. They have to change at least a little bit so you get get at least to the mid of the upgrades
Should be able to buy schematics with BP. If they make some aspect of progressing the skins F2P it will be better overall.
Amazing Video! Im a Xbox Player, I own Progressive Skins and I also leveled them up. I play since 2018 and in this time period I did spend alot of money for PUBG. Battlepasses, Skins, Crates and on leveling up my progressives. I lost track to be honest but I think its probably around 1000 bucks in total, but I really love my Killfeed Skins and played PUBG for 2000h.
Im not regretting it at all but I do think that gambling is problem in gaming. If you have the money, go for it and have fun! People buy clothes, new rims for their car or spend hundreds of dollars partying on the weekends. The System can stay pretty much as it is in my opionion. Progressives should rare and hard to get BUT: updgrading it should be alot easier and more rewarding (battlestat, really? animation? pubg cant be serious) and there should be more ways to obtain scamatics and polymer through events, or cheaper updrade cost. after all I can say I think that the feature should be optimized abd less expensive overall, the prices and the fact that its pretty much all (bad) rng is ridiculous.
thanls for the grat video man!
I would prefer progressive skins being modular. So you can choose what part of the skin you get, without going to level 5 for example just to unlock 1 feature you like.
I don't have to worry about it, because number 1 I've only bought two bundles of skins (Wacky's being one of them) and I don't care too much about skins, but number 2, I have no idea how the system works and I don't feel like trying to figure it out. Schematics? Polymers? Crates? Tickets? I have no idea what those are, how they work, and how to navigate all that.
important video WackyJacky, Thank you
while i dont mind crates as it is a good way to gain some extra revenue i do wish some skins could just be earned with playtime, ive opened tons of crates since 2017, and have not gotten a single skin i liked, eventually i ended up just getting gcoin and paying for skins (WackyJacky101 VSS, TieDye Glider, and sped up progression to get the McClarren base skin although was too slow to upgrade it), right now saveing BP for the mafia car skin although at my rate it will probably disappear before i have enough BP (although PUBG refunded me like 80,000BP for some reason).
Although PUBG IIRC still has actually ability to buy crates/keys from marketplace just like CSGO (although its been a while since ive checked it), i remember back when clothes was on the ground the two most expensive skins usually where the black trenchcoat and the skirts
I've started playing PUBG mobile in the summer of 2019, and yea it is crazy and addicting when upgradable weapons show up. I didn't really care about them until I got my first upgradable M416 🤦♂
I think it'd be better if you had to roll the skin out of the crate at high rarity, like it is now, but after you get the skin the upgrade levels can be completed with missions, BP, and G-coin, rather than needing to open more crates, so that people who want to just spend money can, and those who want to play the game cheap can also, while still having the enjoyment of rolling rare and cool skins
The gambling system would be fine if they add like a bonus after each crate purchase
like the rarest skins are like < 1%
but with every crate purchase, your chance to open it increases by 0.5%, and if you have lets say one gun that has already 10% chance to be opened, and you open it, its chance to open it again, goes back down to the original percent.
This was you can still feel like you are `gambling` for the addicts and give you a higher chance each time you open a box.
Pubg does many sketchy things with their currencies. We had BP, XP(survivor pass) before only as in game value that allows you to upgrade yourself. Now we have: BP, XP, G-coin, scraps, artisan token, polymers, schematics, craft credits, coupons from which you have to collect tons to do something noticeable.
Gambling can be an exciting and entertaining activity for many individuals, providing a sense of thrill and anticipation. However, it is essential to recognize that like any other activity, gambling also has its limitations. Understanding and respecting these limitations is crucial to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
@WackyJacky101 I agree on every word you say on this issue. Just need to make it easier unlock to extra stuff with the progress skins. Would be cool to try and get 500 headshots to unlock a coloured scope it would keep people playing the game. If they loosen the rate on getting the skins I think PUBG would make more money easy maths if you ask me. Love the video love content and your skin bundle is awesome too.
I managed to get the progressive AUG using the free coupons to open the crates, but I'll never upgrade it since I won't spend any real money on skins in PUBG since they are not marketable or tradeable.
Tks dudeee🎉
Nice Video =DDD
One of the best video related to gaming world and you have a nice idea to protect players and underage players specifically, Thank you Wacky Jacky
I've played since day 1 and I've just got the slr progressive skin. It's my first one ever lol
Here in the Netherlands some gambling elements of the game are blocked. We cannot but season passes for example.
Also, stuff in pubg seems to be a matter of luck. But the thing is that pubg can program is however they want and make it come across as if its luck.
Exactly….Take love and respect
You’ve highlighted a good point. Finding a way to exploit fallacies in human nature has always been the staple of big business. Don’t get me wrong having choices is a great privilege but there are many pitfalls that one can succumb to if they are tempted repeatedly. This can come in the form of gambling as you spoke about, but also drugs and alcohol and other vices that are addictive. It stinks that these things are being included in games that children can play, because they can easily exploit them. The video gaming industry has a lot to learn about ethics of this. Also these games are part of publicly traded companies in which stock holders can sue if the companies don’t try to make the most money they can to raise the value of company.
I think a mission system would be good , for example u pay 50-100 euro for the skin, the levels where the look of the gun changes and the killcounter and the rest should be able to get for missions for example:
Play the vertical grip with that gun and get 150 kills with it and u get the skin for that grip.
Or get 100 head shots with the 8 time on kar98k and the 8x will be gold then. Kind of hard missions u have to play to get each attachment modified, that would also be a cool way that us as players getting challenged to use all attachments for that gun u have the progressiv skin for.
Thats how i would make it and like it in a game.
I completely agree with wacky. As for the specific case of the PUBG progressive skins. The way i see it, is that they should make the "progressive" part more cheaper, i dont know by how much. But i do know that just getting the skin is expensive enough, and considering that each level needs two types of material, one of them as rare as the progressive skin itself. Thats when i start thinking on how bad implemented is this thing. In other words, getting the skin should be half way done, and the other half the leveling of it. But right now getting the skin is just 5% of the journey. Maybe if they made it so is one schematic per level insted of 2 and 3 and so on. But even then leveling one skin to lvl 5 means almost like getting 5 progressive skins since shcematics are as rare as them.
In summary i feel like the progressive part of the thing i just too expensive making it less atractive to the point where i think they are lossing money. If they made it more affordable maybe a lot more of us would be willing to pay. This remainds me of what liberal economist in my country are saying, less taxes = more ppl paying = more money instead of less. And we all could be living in a better world if we just realises that not always doing good is = to lose money.
I think this video was a good idea, it should be discussed, and I agree with pretty much everything thing you said. Also I’ve heard some criticisms of you by people thinking you were promoting gambling, so it’s good that you clarified your opinions on it. Lowering the prices is good, I’d say max amount spent on a skin should be around $300 and maybe $100 to get about halfway. Making it 18 and over to open crates is unrealistic and easy for kids to just enter their parents credit card, as this is the usual form of age verification. We already have enough cyber surveillance and data collection/privacy violations so they definitely should not do something like irl ID being attached to the game account, but they shouldn’t throw out the whole system. Bringing the prices down and adding a free system to the weapon mastery would be great.
agreed with your thoughts on this, i think it is more important to create a culture for this, for example as a parent you are supposed to teach your kid as much as possible, where he should spend money or not or when and how much he can do all these gambling part. banning everything is not the great idea ( which indian gov doing now a days ), see as an adult i still dont spend money online gaming, but i play sometimes poker or fantasy sports but i know my limits and i have certain borders which i never cross. still tough question not easy to answer, but should be discussed more and we will someday will reach to better conclusion.
I feel like a dinosaur, never bought a skin or anything cosmetic in any game ever. I simply don’t get the point of it but each to their own. The guy in the default grey t-shirt and grey trousers you have been killing all
these years on PlayStation is probably me 😀
And as an aside Wacky, I was playing duos last week and was in the later circles when had to join a work call so was finishing the round without sound and got a kill. That’s my claim to find now after your no sound video 😂
Living in Belgium, this is a non question for me. We simply don't have access to buy crates in PUBG, nor even the possibility to buy the season pass.
We do get the option to open archivist and hunter crates, unlock weapons with BP, but not with real money.
I think this is a good thing. If I would like to get lucky, gamble or something alike with money, I would do this in a (online) casino. A place, specifically designed for these kind of things.
Very grown up, Kia kaha!
I’m with you here, the skins are cool but also purely cosmetic if people want to use their money on that then that’s fair game I just think there should be a reasonable display of estimated cost somewhere in the menu so people know what to expect and can make an educated decision
Man, I love this father, I am a father of a 3yr old Daughter.and as a father you really care about your kid and Other kids..GG wacky, love u.
with the current Upgrade System i'll never be able to get my 2 Progressive Skins to Max Lvl ☹
side note on in game currency as a phenomenon. i recently watched a cold fusion video about starbucks reward system. fascinating stuff. basically by putting money in their account you’re giving them a zero % loan which they then invest without your direct knowledge and are basically functioning like a bank. a lot of others have already jumped on this and perhaps video games are in it as well through in game currency.
regarding the ethical side of this, there has to be government regulation in the space, because the temptation to exploit gamblers is not something most businesses are going to pass on. there’s a legal age for gambling and this system should be recognized as such. because it is. adult gamblers are going to gamble but assisting them in that is cynical and your brand reputation isn’t going to be good if you care about that… but i guess its pubg and perhaps they know that their reputation can’t sink much lower. my 2 cents
Been playing since launch, ~4k hours. Haven't bought a single crate. True, it's not insanely expensive to buy one for the progressive skins but for $1700 I can buy 30+ triple A titles. Opportunity cost, folks.
Also, thanks wacky. Always appreciate your quality content.
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this Lee!
big fan hear from NEPAL✋✋
Also you are supposed to get "scrap" for opening containers, but I just found out recently the reason I NEVER received any is because you only received scrap if the crate tickets were purchased not received via BP 🤨
i spend 80 $ to open m416 skin but I got nothing
I mean it's bad enough that in The Netherlands it is not possible to open crates, aside from the tickets. Not even the artisan crates can be opened. Not even the season pass at this point can be bought.
I am fine with the game having some of these features, but i agree we also could use some more oldschool free progression for skins. Like the old school COD camo challenges.
I appreciate the frank discussion and the effort to avoid and identify your bias. I think PUBG skins could be less expensive, but I support the business's right to set its prices and determine how to maximize its profits. If the price is too high for most of us, we should vote with our dollars and not buy. We also need to teach our kids good money management skills and keep them away from addictive things like online gambling systems and credit cards until they're mature enough to manage their money wisely.
it is fun to open crates and get lucky. It's also good that PUBG doesn't allow resale of the skins you can acquire through real money.
Are the guns real in the back?
Those are airsoft
They can make a system like,
for a particular number of chicken dinners, we should be getting SCRAPS , and we should be able to build that scrap into weapon or cosmetics or dresses.
As of now, winning CD, doesn't give us much, rather than some XP and BP, we can get those even without getting CD,
CD medals are there, but not much useful for the player, we can only show off
This is where it grts tricky for me.
Ive played cs since 2001 (yes im old) and when skins released in csgo i loved it! Ive gambled myself to pay off an entire Subaru Impreza once..
however!! I also have 3 kids. 12, 8 and 1. the oldest plays fortnite and other games with ingame currencies. This is a massive problem at school for an example. Cause kids are somewhat ruled out if they dont have certain skins that can be bought for real money. Which for me is outrageous.
Its a hard topic to find a balance for..
Thanks for tackling a very sensitive but important issue. I am a parent of 3, so I am somewhat biased.
The one thing that kept me in PUBG all these years, is that I am drawn to the game itself, not due to some shady practices to keep players playing (time intensive progression systems and such). I have nothing against a non time intensive ranking system. But invested time should not be a factor in ranking.
The same applies to money making. A game developer should make money through delivering a good product (the game itself and cosmetics like PUBG). Once they try making money through other means (practices aimed at forcing money from players like gambling crates), I draw a hard line.
i think it would be so much better if they made it if you unboxed the skin it would progress 1 level every 100 kills with said weapon giving you a incentive to play. not only that if you see it in the kill feed you’d be worried or if you found it on someone’s person you’d have a sense of achievement if that makes sense
The Aston Martin car skin collection just came out in PUBGM and the masterpiece (or the most good looking skin amongst the collection with the most flex) costs 22500$ by itself😂
We all know that it's natural for the game devs to keep these stuff in game for obvious reasons. This won't change.
Dang, I like this guy. He is the most liveable PUBG content creator!
Wackyjacky felt "good" and "proud" at 3.05.
Ahh yes these chatGPT body language classes are coming along nicely.
There is way too many beryl skins. Used to be too many m4. They spam a single weapon for way too long then they do it again with another one. Way too many kar98k skins, barely 2 or 3 mosin nagant skins for exemple.
yeah
I'd love to get yours skins, but I can't spend money in game
it's sad you can;t get all those cosmetics just for playing
Anyone else watching this, thinking of Benjoi’s video showing wackyjacky slapping PUBG devs around? 😂
this company is greedy as hell. in most of the royal battles, the money spent on the battle pass can be returned if you complete it, but not in PUBG. The opening of 10 boxes of contraband at once for coupons was removed, because donate or get shit. Even the hunter's crates were nerfed, where duplicates did NOT initially drop if a similar imprint of the item had already dropped out. now mostly rubbish is falling out that is already in the prints and even scribbled. everything leads to aggressive donation if you want something better than blue quality
Sry for my bad english… i think that wie could habe another cool way to earn such Skins. My idea was when you get 500 kills with the m416 or 100 Kills with the dbs, you can „buy“ the skins with your kill count. The next Step could be that you have to make another 500 Kills for the next step. In you have 250 Kills you can get a 50% Discount for the polymere and blueprints(i dont know the Original English Name). With this you can buy Ort earn your Skin that you want. For different guns wie Need different kill Count i think… have a Nice day :)
