I feel you, I struggled to fit in and make friends. Throughout the years, I’ve learned to do things by myself and if people want to be part of my life they will come. Somehow I’ve made friends doing things I enjoy.
Yeah I’m working on just putting myself out there and doing things I’m interested in, in hopes that I might meet people. I just have to get over the anxiety around showing up by myself sad the awkwardness of that. ❤️ Thanks for sharing.
At the Y in Estes, you prioritized fitting in with the "cool crowd." I was there at the same time, I got there maybe a couple weeks before you in early September 2019. You made a point of ignoring me and engaging only with mutuals at our table if ever we happened to dine together during meals. I'm glad that you've continued seasonal life and have grown in your self-confidence. Sometimes, that initial "click" is an act that burns off eventually. Always stay true to yourself and try to be less judgemental. It truly is quality over quantity out here. Some of my best friends have turned out to be people I would have judged prematurely at another point in my life. I'm so glad that I didn't. We have to live with ourselves more than anybody else. I find that the less of a "fake-it" I am with myself, the less I feel lonely when I am alone, and the connections I make and have are better quality. Happy travels🌈
I’m at the Y i don’t even try to make friends I just talk to coworkers when they engage me first otherwise it’s just hello how are you I’ve got few WhatsApp friends but I’m such an introvert that I don’t hangout my whole life I’d find just one person that I’d engage with more than the rest
Here I'm a empath and lots of people tend to reach out to me to be their friend but I like having only 1-2 close friends and nomore. So I will be nice but stay distant or busy otherwise. I've been this way my whole life, I'm happy this way so don't worry, each part of life you'll meet other people who will make you feel included and some will not click which is ok too. It just sounds like an awkward situation a, ahem super cold room. We love you Bria❤❤❤
Yo Bria, don't sweat it so much. Being invited to a party where everybody already has deep history is a super awkward spot. It's like going to a party where EVERYBODY is a magician, you don't know no magic. Maybe that sounds weird, but It's not on you to join in, it's on your friend to 'bring you in'. Like you said, some friends you just 'click' with right away. Some friends you gotta grow into. Don't worry about it. You do you and you'll do fine. I’m an introvert so I just tell myself well you wouldn’t like that anyway
