Oh girl, thank you so much for posting your journey at this gig. One Texan to another, you totally SAVED me from making a horrible mistake. I just can't do spiders and biting bugs!! 😲😱
And YES, food is very important!! This has to be some of the most nutrient deficient food I've ever seen at a seasonal job. Btw, Sun Valley employee dining room is really pretty good. 😋 And remember, very good transportation into town, and a good bus schedule for the next two towns over.

I can't help but feel like you may be destined to become a food inspector, a hotel inspector, or maybe an investigator with the Department of Labor - perhaps God is training you for that as a future career.

One last question Bria about going to new jobs: After you're packed and book a flight to your new seasonal job, do you take a taxi from the airport to the work location? How does all that work exactly? Thank You.
We're here this summer and really enjoying it, but the food!! The zoo is the worst food I've had as an employee. We're vegetarian and virtually have no options but the salad bar it's been a big downfall of an otherwise great place were really enjoying. Your comment about them putting meat in things that don't need meat in them hit me hard 😂
🤣 I think the zoo was a very appropriate name for the employee cafeteria because the food was a mess. I agree it was the worse employee food I've ever had. I'm glad you enjoyed the place overall though.

OMG!!! So happy I found you Bria via my Mom sending me this video link. This year's summer season is my first year doing seasonal work/gig away from home. I'm actually working in Maine right now 🏞️ it's gorgeous here..but you definitely hit it on the money with the negatives! I feel the same..I'm paying $400 a month for room and board but no meal plan! Which is hard because food and everything here is expensive! You pay that price even for a roommate..
I'm in my own room now finally..had to put in some consistent asking..I'm in my early 30s and to grown to share a dorm.. nothing wrong with others that don't mind. I enjoy people but also need my space and privacy, like you said especially after working all day😂
Anyhow I'm already looking for my seasonal winter job, Any suggestions? I'm limited I know as I won't take a job anymore with dorm style living..but I have found a few options.. Looking forward to more videos from you 🤗 oh and read you are from Texas.. someone stated in a comment..I am as well!!!😎

I had filled out an application for the YMCA of the rockies and the room and board was 200/a week. I can't really afford that, kind of hoping to find a seasonal job were the room and board is a a little cheaper.
I totally get it. I wish the pay was better and the room and board was cheaper, because I do like being here. This second season will likely be my last because of that. I hope you find something 🙂, I know alot of places are short on staff.
Just got hired for my first seasonal job ever (it’s at a resort in Washington )! I’m so excited but also overwhelmed thinking about what I need to do to prepare. How big of a suitcase do you pack? I don’t want to overpack, but also don’t want to overpack hehe
First of all congrats!!! With packing a lot depends on if you're flying or driving, with a car naturally you've got more leeway to bring more stuff than if you're flying. However, seasonal housing can be pretty cramped so keep that in mind. I'm kinda the opposite of minimalistic, so I always used two suitcases, but I carried a luggage scale to ensure my suitcases weren't overweight. I'd try to bring a little of everything, a warm jacket, raincoat, light jacket comfy shoes/ work shoes, and always something more dressy for events/ costumes. There's usually a party or two for staff.

Food at a seasonal gig is really important because think about it-- you are a captive audience there, often working more than 8 hours a day, sometimes with no days off, no kitchen facilities, etc. If they serve you 'slop', you are not getting the proper nutrients to be your best to THEIR guests. To me it is a lack of respect to be served substandard food at a seasonal job. I don't expect gourmet meals, but don't serve me pasta, pasta, pasta, breaded chicken nuggets, pasta, especially if you are charging me on top of it.
Thank you! Like I really feel bad about complaining about it sometimes but everything you've said is 100% true. I did start to feel disrespected, especially since they produce gourmet meals out of that same kitchen to serve at the restaurant literally right across from the employee cafeteria.

Umm... pulled pork in Mac n cheese sounds amazing...
Not bad at all if done right. It's just that it would be hard for vegetarians to have options when they would throw meat into things that didn't necessarily need meat. Also imagine if a high school cafeteria made Mac n cheese w/ pulled pork, that's the quality of food we're talking about here.
