2023: How to Connect PS4 Controller to PC with DS4 Windows - Updated

Complete guide to setting up your PS4 & PS5 controller on your windows pc using the DS4 Windows Driver. Just connect your controller with cable or with bluetooth, then install the .NET Framework which allows DS4 to run. Once complete you just need to run the DS4 app from its unpacked folder, download any remaining drivers your computer needs, and hit start to begin using your controller for all your games.

For controller to show PS buttons, just go to Edit --> Other --> Emulated Controller (Select dualshock 4)

You can do a thing called passthrough. But it messes up the controller being usable in so many games I just havent gotten around to it yet.

For those with a Dual Sense controller not working, click into Settings. On the right side of the window is a Device Options button. Click that to open a new window. Make sure Dual Sense Controller support is ticked/checked and close the window. Connect the controller again and press Start again on the Controllers tab. This should get your PS5 controller seen/connected.

hello i hope you can still see this coz i need help, I am using a generic USB gamepad when i plug it in it dosent show on the DS4Window app but it shows that it is connected to my PC, even tried to use it on games inside steam and it works fine, however the problem occurs when the game im trying to play is outside of steam(the game is controller supported so the game itself should not be the problem).
