  • Building on the success of its predecessor, the refreshed 2025 Honda Civic introduces significant enhancements in style, technology, and performance. The addition of a two-motor hybrid powertrain offers a notable increase in power, making the new Civic hybrid both a sedan and hatchback model. Positioned at the top of the lineup, these hybrids are expected to achieve an impressive EPA combined fuel economy rating nearing 50 mpg. This model aligns with Honda's electrification strategy, aiming to make hybrid vehicles 40% of Civic sales. The 2025 Civic sedan will be available at dealers next month, with the hatchback following later in the summer.
The 2025 Civic is offered in four trim levels: LX (sedan only), Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The new hybrid-electric models signify a key step towards Honda's goal of 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2040, as highlighted by Lance Woelfer from Honda National Auto Sales. Honda's hybrid-electric models already represented over a quarter of the brand's sales in 2023, and the Civic hybrid aims to strengthen this trend. Honda's long-standing Civic nameplate remains popular among Gen Z buyers, first-time new car buyers, and multicultural customers, underscoring its broad appeal and market success.
The new hybrid-electric Civics are the most powerful non-Type R Civics ever, with a combined 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque. This provides quick, effortless acceleration while maintaining excellent fuel economy. The two-motor hybrid system is optimized for the Civic, enhancing efficiency without compromising performance or space. Additionally, the new Civic hybrids feature four levels of regenerative-braking deceleration for greater control, and unique tuning for improved ride and handling dynamics. The lowest noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels in the lineup are achieved through a robust noise reduction package.
Design-wise, the 2025 Civic features a more aggressive front fascia and grille, darker taillights for the sedan, and distinct styling for the hybrid models, including a body-colored headlamp garnish and front lower spoiler. New color options like Solar Silver Metallic and Urban Gray Pearl enhance the Civic's appearance. Inside, the refreshed Civic includes new interior color options, a moonroof, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and advanced technology like a 12-speaker Bose audio system and a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. All models now come standard with front USB-C ports.
Safety continues to be a cornerstone of the Civic's appeal, with the 11th-generation model incorporating advanced active and passive safety technologies. These include Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ body structure and innovative airbag designs to minimize severe brain trauma in collisions. The Honda Sensing® suite offers comprehensive safety and driver-assistive technologies, such as Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Pedestrian Detection and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Sport models now also feature Blind Spot with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Production of the Civic continues in North America, with hybrid power units built in Ohio facilities, contributing to Honda's significant manufacturing presence in the region.
