As I've said many times, Tears of the Kingdom is not just glorified DLC because DLC never removes huge portions or features from a game. If I want to play Breath of the Wild I can't just pop in Tears and go do the Breath of the Wild stuff, it's gone. Divine Beasts are gone, no guardians or Sheika towers, no remote bombs or Cryonis, etc. Great Fairies are in different places and more complicated to unlock. You start all over with 3 hearts again and no weapons or items. If they just added the sky islands or depths but everything else was the same, then yeah, it's like DLC... But they changed and removed so much from the previous game, and added a ton of stuff that doesn't fit into Breath of the Wild. Plus, Breath of the Wild already had optional DLC that added quite a bit to the base game.
This is a great answer. If people really want to call out a game as just DLC they should look at Modern Warfare III. Now thats how you rip off a fanbase 😂
For the 0.1% of people who care about the Harvest Moon situation / why they're all generally not good anymore:
The series in Japan, where it's developed (by Victor Entertainment Software, now owned by Marvelous) releases under the name Bokujo Monogatari. When it came to localizing the game originally Natsume was in charge and came up with the name "Harvest Moon." In 2015 Marvelous wanted to hand off their localization work to Xseedgames instead (since Natsume's quality was a little hit or miss), but Natsume were the ones with the rights to the Harvest Moon name. So Xseedgames had to release the new Bokujo Monogatari games as "Story of Seasons," and now Natsume develops their own Harvest Moon games with very low effort in order to cash in on the IP.

So about the assassination of Shinzo Abe. Shinzo is the grandson of a fascist politician from the Imperial Japan days. His grandfather never apologized for the atrocities they caused. Look up Unit 731. Unit 731 was not run by him but basically he never felt what they did was wrong and Shinzo Abe, the former president, said his grandfather was his political role model.
Then there’s also a second fact he was connected to a large religious scam and the person who murdered him lost their mother/grandmother to that scam because they took her money during a health scare and she died. So yeah I am not sad he was assassinated
That answer from Eiji Aonuma on the ganondorf kneel stuff. He's saying he'd not heard the theory that TOTK could be a retelling of OOT. He's aware the scenes and characters are similar. Then is acknowledging on reflection how using those callbacks could be interpreted as an OOT retelling, rather than just similar events happening.

You guy are nuts, the SMRPG remake is fantastic! They kept the feel of the original game with everything looking way nicer. If you modernize it too much then you lose the soul of what the game is and should just make a sequel.

I like how they say Tears of the kindgom was the only real sequel. My guys forgot about The Legend of Zelda (1987) -> Zelda II The Adventure of Link, Windwaker -> Phantom hourglass -> Spirit Tracks, A Links to the Past -> A Link between Worlds, and of course YES Ocarina of time -> Majora Mask. its not that uncommon to have Zelda Sequel... come on my Zelda guy.
I think they mean specifically using the same world where everything is there but different, in which case you're still right about ALttP and ALBW

Natsume always have and still owns the Harvest Moon rights.
Xseed were the developers for Harvest Moon, they left Natsume and makes Story of Seasons.
Story of Seasons is the good Harvest Moon.
They’ve done direct sequels before, like the DS ones. Even A Link Between Worlds seems a bit like a sequel to A Link to the Past. But the DS ones are definitely following on from Wind Waker (Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks). So laughing about a sequel to a sequel, when they have done it with Spirit Tracks, is quite weird 😂

I don't agree with your take on the visuals of Super Mario RPG. I completed the game and I found the game visuals very beautiful! It fits the original game and I'm super happy with that. It would have been weird if they would have completely changed the visual style. For me, it's a really great remake that keep the essence of the original! It definitely looks way much better than the original!
So I somehow missed this episode, so I get one more with Bob!

1080 snowboarding was one of my fave games also from the N64. I think though i need the N64 controller as its a bit hard to get those 1080's on the switch joycon. Might try the procontroller first. My housemate would work shift work and set new high scores in trick mode when i was at work, then i'd beat them when i got home and he was at work and this went on for months.

I’ve been suspecting it for a while, there have been so many episodes where Wood was clearly unprepared and making very reactionary / misinformed comments about gaming news, and Bob looked frustrated as he had to correct him or explain something to him. It’s one of the reasons I mostly stopped watching except to check in to see if things have improved. Months later the dynamic hasn’t changed much. I’d want to be done too.

I feel like the Super Mario RPG remake was a smaller remake that kind of serves as a hold over until the Paper Mario: The Thousands Year Door remake comes out which seems like it will be a better remake (hopefully 😅).

48:20 I absolutely hated that nub too lol everyone i know did but there IS a mod to fix it that is SUUUUPER easy - yank the nub out 😂 it'll come CLEAN out lol the actual input ON the board that u can now see in the hole tho, is the PERFECT size to just push in and reattach the stick cap from a PS Vita 😁 it has a solid texture so ur thumb won't slip around, you can still close the lid, and wont get a big slice going up the middle of the nub from having to drive ur thumbnail in to the center for it to feel as responsive as a proper stick😅

I love the characters and the triple attack animations for mario rpg but I agree that it's only a remake in a sense that new assets were made, other than that its kinda a quick remaster at full price but with square doing most of the lifting for it that kinda makes sense too...
I am honestly thinking that square is doing some posturing where they are hoping to be bought out by the big N...they were trying to sell to sony but got snubbed because the Activision deal was still in court and you know them japanese execs are just yakuza bosses that don't forget a humiliation like that

Zelda TotK was most likely they where making DLC and ended up adding enough that it morphed into a full game.
The game was very much advertised as like remade from ground up based on original. This was mostly a square game with just Nintendo letting them use the characters.
😂😂 I was the guy on Twitter/X he mentioned that sent him the clip from back in May/June of him saying Tears was “easy game of the year” ..
Funny he addressed it here. My point with bringing that clip up, and hoping he would see it, was that I feel someone in his spot.. why be throwing “GOTY” around in a game he hadn’t yet finished, in May? It was just to drum up hype in his stream. Words have to have meaning as they always have power-so why be so loosey goosey in saying that?
Wood is a fun character, and his personality sells his streams. Doesn’t need to be throwing claims around like that just for hype in the moment. Just my take. Can respectfully agree to disagree if he feels differently.

SSX Tricky > 1080 Snowboarding. Not too fair of a comparison, seeing as 1080 came out in '98 and Tricky in '01 but I feel like once I played Tricky, it was tough to go back to 1080 on the 64.

The issue causing the split in NSO apps in Japan is likely about the guns. Japan is more socially open about other "adult" topics but they are very strict on guns and drugs.

I'm a little torn on the Mario RPG remake. On the one hand, I totally get all their criticisms, and it probably shouldn't have been $60. On the other hand, Mario RPG is one of my favorite games of all time, and the remake is everything I could have wanted it to be. It doesn't look modern, but it's a remake of a 25 year old game, and they wanted it to feel like that. It was an impossible balancing act, and they opted to make people like me happy over people unfamiliar with the original.

The Zelda movie really should be animated in the style of the opening cutscene of Link’s Awakening (Switch).
Edit: I’d also be okay with it being in the art style of the Game Boy Color version’s opening cutscene, but that’s way too extreme of a choice. 😅 I just think it’d be cool. Maybe do the art style of the Switch version, and then, some bored fan could do the GBC version, including the GBC chiptune sound style, updated to be HD. 🤷🏻♂️ #FanFantasyIdea

It's a big upgrade graphically. Especially getting into all the raytracing/reflections. The map is also twice the size, give or take. I also don't think ToTK is dlc.

Hard disagree with Mario RPG. Thought it was a brilliant remake, and looked great. Just wrapped up all the post-game boss content. I have nostalgia for the original because it was my most memorable game as a youth getting SNES as my first console, and I think they re-introduced it brilliantly.

Japan will have a seperate N64 catalogue on Nintendo Switch Online for 18+ games but then have Anime that should be 18+ but instead is advertised as cartoons for kids 🤔
the issue with the super mario rpg remake was not in the visuals, they needed to do more gameplay tweaks (mostly make it harder) all the changes they made were to make the game easier but its already an easy game.

Metroid prime remaster was 40 dollars and had SO much in it
I looked stuff about ArtePiazza, and apparently people love their DQ ports/remakes on handhelds and other games (like Opoona). I'm close to bearing Mario RPG and it's alright. It's not that long of an rpg, so it not being super amazingly pretty is whatever. They probably wanted to keep the feel of the old game. One thing that's a mild problem is how laggy/frame-y it can be. Like, this is not a game that should be laggy at all
