This was probably my favorite podcast. Shame about Bob leaving, but all good things come to an end.
So when bob announced hes leaving i was crushed, my entire weekend was ruined since i enjoy this podcast so much but a week has gone by and as much as i enjoy bobs chemistry with wood i think E could step in and just host it with wood, i think they got good chemistry together

Love this, I live in Rochester! Would love to catch you guys at a meet up or show you some awesome coffee spots. Strong national museum does adult nights a few times a year which is the way to do it so there aren’t a million kids running around. You can get tickets, they have food and drinks all over the museum for it! Also oddly enough listening to this waiting to catch my flight to Brooklyn to see one of my buddies for the weekend!
The best use of the Wii Us dual screen was with that Luigi's Ghost Mansion game in Nintendo Land

22:32 - Wood is wrong, Bob is right, 3rd-party games have better online with Switch. Rocket League runs flawlessly online, but Smash Ultimate sucks online.
Let’s not end this podcast just replace bob, he will be missed but this podcast is amazing in every way. At first it will be hard to replace him but most podcast channels go through this all the time and they work in the end of day and hey who knows bob can comeback one day as a secret guest if it continues. 🤘🏼
I would love for this to happen. There is a serious lack of really good gaming podcasts. For me it has really only been this, Spawncast, and the Seasoned Gaming Bitcast. I would be super sad to see this one go permanently.

Our group of guy friends in high school back in like 2010, would get their parents to rent them a cabin for a few days and they'd bring their huge gaming PCs and set them up around the dining room and game all weekend.

ngl. i think an f-zero game but in the style of need for speed would be really cool. like an open world futuristic street racer would be so unique. just don’t know if nintendo would be willing to put the recourses for a risky title that might not do well because of how niche it is
I’ve been to the museum of Play in Rochester. It’s actually pretty great, and the surrounding area is fun too!
There's also FFVIII on PC. Got them both on as soon as I was able to. Being able to play with 3d accelerated rendering on DirectX was the biggest thing for me at the time. Only thing that sucked was the music not having better samples for the midi. Took me a while to learn how much I was missing out on that front. Still an epic soundtrack tho.

That PC version of FF7 is the one I had and played. I didn't have a Playstation and only played on PC during the late 90's.
i found that ffvii pc version at a yard sale ~2002, so it was actually the first version i owned 😂
Missed opportunity: keeping the virtual console for the Switch, especially because they finally started making original wireless controllers to match their classic consoles. It would have been awesome to have the virtual systems added to the home screen and you would just select "NES" or whatever and then all your NES game purchases would appear on the home screen and you could use the NES controller for them, or select "SNES" and the home screen would change to that system and games, and you could use the SNES controller. You'd have them for the TV and on the go.
The eShop system was already linked to the 3DS and Wii U eShops so you could mingle funds, it would have been so easy to bring over the virtual console. The online subscription could then be a small selection of free games that would rotate every month with the option to buy them permanently, kind of like the game trials they have now but maybe 3 to 5 games per month, plus online play of course.
1) The Wii U not having a DS/3DS attachment is just absurd. I think it could have propelled Wii U console and 3DS software sales quite a bit. Now, I’m NOT saying it would have taken the Wii U lifetime sales from 13 million to 100 million, but I do think it would have helped in some way. Yes, a few DS games were available on the eShop, but I think they still missed a huge opportunity to take advantage of having a dual-screen console and a dual screen portable on the market at the same time.
2) Also, the 3DS having a 3D effect, they should have remade something like Mario Clash and Wario Land from the Virtual Boy to release on the 3DS. Classic game, remade for modern hardware in modern visuals, still playable in 3D (if desired).
3) Mario Galaxy 2 not being in Mario 3D All Stars. Everyone thought the game was going to be released at some point on it’s own for the Switch, and that hasn’t happened yet, so now it’s looking like they just straight up gave Mario Galaxy 2 the middle finger…which sucks.
I lived in Rochester for 5 years didn’t know the museum existed 😢.
For the amiibos, I used my friends booklet of amiibo cards in TOTK that work just like the amiibo statues and a fraction of the price. Kind of felt like cheating, having endless equipment.

I used to be of the “achievements are dumb and Nintendo doesn’t need them” mindset. Ever since I switched to PC as my primary platform I’ve found that I quite enjoy looking at Steam’s global achievement stats and tracking my own progress via achievements. At this point, Nintendo not jumping on board is just them being stubborn.
Nintendo could also benefit from copying Steam’s curation features.
I don't find trophies/achievements as something to brag about per se, but I love getting 100% platinum on playstaion lol. I can't deny I've played nintendo games sometimes less than I might've cuz they don't have achievements to motivate me to finish side stuff 100%
@@KevinAccetta Yeah, it’s not really about bragging rights. Just more about personal progress and fulfillment on top of just beating the game. It’s cool to know what percent of players completed what. I wish the Switch had more community features in general.
Completely the same for me, ever since getting the steam deck I really started seeing them as more of a “progress bar” and found them to add value for my game time in the respective game (well most of them lol)
Would love to see achievements in Nintendo first party game. TOTK could have some wild ones
A few missed opportunities or mistakes they have made imo is getting rid of miiverse, more mini consoles, achievements on a console level, and not having like a gamepass/ps plus equivalent for switch games
All that talk about game history museum trip. Thats a lot of pressure and daunting. Id wanna back out too with that sorta pressure from everyone, expecting to do these big things for a podcast. Id be burnt out quick.
But then again I have bad anxiety. I can't speak for how anyone else would feel.

Regarding rareware being sold to Microsoft and the properties, supposedly Nintendo had the rights to all of the original properties like banjo, conker and perfect dark, but rare had the rights to the characters they created for donkey Kong (like diddy, Dixie, k rool and so forth). They supposedly ended up trading the rights to the rare IPs for the rights to the DK characters when rare got bought.
I completely agree that Nintendo needs to get on the amiibo train again. I love collecting them and the few that they do release are in high demand. The noah and mio amiibo preorders are impossible to snag online right now. It makes me wonder why they seem to just not care about them anymore.
That final fantasy is 30 on ebay with 20 shipping so actually the pawn shop had it at market price or probably marked up
I really hope they give us the option to out-right purchase the available NSO games with the next console.

Something not mentioned was the Quality of Life initiative. I know there's Sports and Ring Fit but they aren't really integrated with the switch. The pedometer of 3DS is something and I actually try to reach a monthly quota with it.

I honestly have so little excitement for this episode after the departure video. Just feels cruel. I am watching it but it feels like the knife being turned.
Why don’t you guys just do a podcast once every month or two. There’s no rule about how frequent you need to do the show. That way Bob gets his time for all his other things.
Honestly all i want Nintendo to do is
- More games like Switch Sports, Miitopia, Nintendogs ect
- Remove the need for paid online
- Better online servers
- Bring back Virtual Console (while still keeping the subscription service for retro games)
- more charming stuff like music for the mii creation/eshop
- more home screen customizations
- faster eshop with less unplayable useless garbage like Calculator, AAAClock, Basketball, Henti garbage, WWE2k20, Troll & I ect.. they need to not have big publishers release there games so broken & have less random folks dropping useless reused assets for just some easy quick money
- backwards compatibility with Switch going forward
- a better Nintendo mobile app (more like the PS app)
- adding more content/updates to there online games post launch aka not stopping the support for Animal Crossing New Horizons so quick
