      I have a single leaf cutting of this plant that I have propagating in water right now, but I don’t really know what I’m doing:) She does have one long(ish) root so far but I have no idea when I should plant her into soil. How long should the root be before I attempt it? I would LOVE to end up with a plant like yours, but is that even possible with a single leaf as my starting point?

    Helllllllllllllooo... First Thank you. While going through CZcams I came across this video & oh my God fell in love with this beautiful plant. So here I am about 2 months later ( and watched this video at least 10 more times) My very own Syngonium Podophyllum Albo Variegatum cutting just arrived today. I am so super duper excited. I'm suppose to go to work at 3 today, ummm well I am going but only bc i need more money to buy plants... And my coworkers will hate me by the end of the night. I have pictures to show and a 5 year old's excitement burning in my chest. ( Yeah, pictures of 1 leaf, stem & 1/2 inch root . ) I'm not sure if you still check this but I do have 1 question... the woman that mailed it out ( i will not mention names) wrapped the bottom in sphagnum Moss, like well, really tight THEN taped the SM up really tight at the bottom,, put the entire cutting in paper, taped the paper from top to bottom & then taped the paper to the box
    . I felt like I was performing surgery trying to release my poor plant from its taped hell without hurting it. Thank God my Pen knife saved the day but there's still some SM around the root thats just on there tight. I got entirely too nervous trying to take anymore off so I put her in water & will check again tomorrow. Is that the right thing to do??? I hope.. I.'ve gotten countless plants in SM thru the mail before but NEVER like this.( My 1st order from this shop) So my question is do you think water is the right way to go or should I be doing something else? Will it release the sphagnum moss from the root OR will it kill it being wrapped? Anyway, Thanks again for your videos especially this one. I hope you have the most amazing year... 💚

      I think you're talking about the white parts of the leaves browning? This is normal in plants with white sections. Because there's no green on that section, it can't sustain itself and tbh isn't useful for the plant so they're usually the first one to go.

    Hi. I am still a newbie and thinkingn to propagate my syngonium. Just have a question for you. Once you placed the cuttings in leca, did you put in fertilizer too? And how often do you do that?
    I notice my current plant has two aerial nodes showing right above the soil level in the same stem, dont know if I should just leave them alone where they eventually implant themselve in soil and grow or should I cut and put in leca? What do you think? Thanks!

    • @kevin.
      @kevin.  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Nancy! There's a number of things that you could do. When I put the cuttings in LECA, I usually put rooting hormone (rapidstart by general hydroponics) and a 1/3 strength of what I would usually do with my nutrient solution. A lot of people use super thrive. But I definitely wouldn't recommend a heavy fertilizer. It will shock the plant. Some people just use water. People usually recommend to wait for the plant to mature before you cut up the plant. In my experience, my syngoniums aerial roots never grow long enough to reach the soil. Maybe if you have high enough humidity? But I'm not sure. I always tell people to propagate knowing the risks of potentially losing the cuttings. I know I've lost a bunch in the past. Key things are to make sure they're in a sunny + warm place.

I'm going to transfer mine in leca now, but it's going to be my first plant in leca. Do you have any tips on how to fertilize it? Btw, I love how you showed the progress from start to finish. :)

    • @kevin.
      @kevin.  Před 3 lety +3

      Thank you Risha! 🥰 I'm thinking maybe the terracotta dried out the soil too fast. That definitely happened to me! A few key things: make sure you take off as much soil off of the roots. Start off with water+superthrive for the first couple weeks. I've never done that but people swear by it. When you switch to nutrient solution, I would do a 1/4 recommended strength just so you don't shock the plant. Change the nutrient solution every 2 weeks, and flush the pot in the weeks in between that. And lastly give it an adequate amount of light. I hope this helps!

    I’m also trying to water prop the same plant before transferring it to leca...the idea of waiting months before being able to transfer is so discouraging 😭

      Hmm why don't you just propagate straight into LECA? I'm actually experimenting with that and I think it's going well? 😅 I'm using rapidstart in my nutrient solution to help with fast root growth.

    Ok.. Where do you keep your plants ? Oo My Syngonium Albo grows pretty slow.. but maybe it's just not enough light?

    I just ordered an albo cutting and was planning to put it in sphagnum moss. Does anybody know which method is better for propagating. Moss or water? This will be my first syngonium so I don't know how they behave

    Hi my albo is reverting right now. How to bring back its glory?

    • @kevin.
      @kevin.  Před 3 lety +2

      You can potentially wait to see if it returns in the next couple leaves. I tend to propagate and make a cut where the last variegated leaf is to try to bring it back.
