They did lie, it was confirmed today. 339whp is closer to 400 crank. Also made over 420 trq. No Camry on earth accelerates like this, please do your research before you post public comments.

What are you talking about? A 335i E92 is probably with a Stage 1 faster than this stock Supra but no way if both cars are stock. Supra needs around 18sec to 200 km/h and 335i around 20sec to 200 km/h.

It’s amazing how many people have negative things to say about this car, majority have probably never owned a supra, and most likely never will. Don’t like it? Don’t buy it.

People who want the 2JZ in it will most likely switch it out, and the ones that don’t are still left with one of the better modern engines for tuning anyway. A more powerful car would have ended up with the car being far more expensive too.

For the price of this in Canada, I could get a '19 Mustang Bullitt, a '17 Corvette C7 or a '19 Challenger SRT-392, all of which would be faster, more reliable and easier to live with/own. I still like the new Supra, though.

I agree with you but I also think that it wouldn't have been interesting for them to create a 500hp+ car, the r&d cost would have been really high and the image of Toyota is the one of a generalist brand, that mean only the real ( and rich) fans would have bought the car. And the return on investment would have been not interesting I believe

@@ravenheart369 1) The engine, while sourced from BMW, was worked on (hence that BMW still makes some of the best Inline 6s to this day and the B58 is no exception). Toyota has revised every part of the engine and stress tested the engine to meet their reliability standards and ended up succeeding, and that considering the troublesome reliability in typical BMWs, and adding the coding and programming and such, will make it feel un-BMW-like hence customising the base itself. Toyota clearly knew what they were doing, and there's reasons why they took all the time they needed in developing the new Supra. It just shows that it is a Toyota at heart and has a pure Toyota soul.
2) The iDrive knob (this here is Toyota's version of iDrive called "Supra Connect"), and the other parts from the mid console (IE: The shifter) and not the design of the mid console are just some parts from BMW. Toyota actually designed and layed out the whole interior (even the steering wheel and dashboard) and has Toyota and BMW parts combined.
3) The 2JZ may be a "perfect" engine (there are 2JZ-swapped MKVs that already caught fire), but there is no point in upgrading it as it won't pass today's emission standards. (and yeah, a 2-decade old engine on a new vehicle and platform totally makes sense...)
4) "Even beep and bing sound is from previous generation BMWs!" (the Fiat 124 Spider also has them from Mazda, and I don't hear any of you calling it a Mazda Miata albeit it isn't).
5) This car is different than the Z4. Just so you know that platform-sharing and badge-engineering are two different things. The Supra looks different, drives different, feels different, packaged different, and is different despite just the littlelest things they have in common. Then again, so are the 124 Spider and the Miata. They are CO-DEVELOPED while having their own unique personalities. Badge-engineering is basically when a car is copypasted with a different badge. The facts speak for themselves.

Nathan Vonlanthen i dont have to tell you man you already know why. the car looks good. but almost all the dna of the car is bmw z4 from the engine to the chassis. waited almost 20 years for the successor to the famous 2jz supra and toyota completely sold out and took the lazy easy way out. you telling me toyota couldnt develop its own inline 6? this engine is out of a 2 series and all the reliability of a toyota compared to bmw goes out the window.

@@cswengel42 I mean the Supra A80 was legendary only because of the media. It was originally a GT car, and it wasn't a very good driver's car. The A90 would never have happened if it wasn't for BMW - the costs were to high for Toyota, not worth the investment. Also, the chassis was co-developed, both companies together - but the engine is indeed BMW's B58. I know it matters to many people that this isn't powered by a Toyota engine (8 speed ZF auto is great and manual will come later), but let's be honest: the new engine wouldn't have held a candle to the 2JZ-GTE. If it was purely built by Toyota, it would have been much more expensive and people would have criticized it too. I'd say we should be happy the A90 even exists.
