- I needed to share this as it's sort of breaking news - there are big changes afoot for the Duardin in Age of Sigmar... but it is good news for Dwarf players as it pretty much confirms a July release date for them in Warhammer The Old World

Yeah, I could have sworn that GW included the Dwarfs in the Cities preview they did. I can remember asking, at the time, if that meant that GW had rethought keeping TOW and AoS model lines separate. This is very, very, weird and confusing. Again, wouldn’t it be nice if GW, instead of just pumping out gallons of marketing dreck, actually told us what was happening with these two systems? None of this makes a lick of sense from a sales perspective. Just put the factions in both systems, include round and square bases in the model boxes, and sell models to both sets of fans. Instead, now they’re driving the TOW fans to eBay, 3D printing and third party miniature companies to build their Old World armies.
Dispossessed were included in the CoS index but that doesn't mean they make it into the battletome. This is part of kicking out whfb kits from AoS that the main studio doesn't want to be core.
the units for Aos are in the faction pack, they still have points and will be usable in your Aos army. When the new battletome comes out this edition it is 100% likely that all the old dwarf units that have just been removed will not be in the new book and replaced with the second wave of units.
Man it must be really hard for new players/ people who aren't chronically online when GW quietly keeps removing the models and factions for no good reason
I had to sell my Dwarf army a few years ago, because I needed the money.
Literally over the last 6 months I have been trying to rebuild my collection.
I walked into my Games Workshop today to find my Longbeards, Miners, old Slayers and Warriors are no longer in use ?
I’m still trying to figure it all out ?
@KTEden luckily with the release of the Dwarfs arcane journal, those models will be available again this week, as long as GW is able to suply their stores. Granted, they will only have rules in TOW
Dwarfs have "been coming" since mid/end March of this year... GW has earned itself some entries in the book since then.
JUST BRING 'EM ON DAMMIT!
'SHORT?!'
Since aos isnt allowed to share with old world (money wise), its very likely those old world armies that didnt get released will eventually get a rollout, but they have to leave the aos range first
That's kind of what I'm thinking, though units with considerable cross over like Dark Elves may be the trickiest to disentangle.
Just shows GW would rather make less money and pretend to know which game system the sales were for rather than more money and admit they don't know if I was buying gloomspite gitz or night goblins when I bought AOS boxes for my old world army....
GW shareholders would be annoyed if they understood what is going on... I don't hold any GW shares as there doesn't appear to be any real benefit.
They need to just pull the trigger and add Dark Elves and Vampire Counts to TOW as well, so we can get proper releases for them.
This is weird.. they're not listed as going away come June 1st 2025 like every other discontinued thing is on the Battle Points list, and they are still included in the Warscroll packs of the Index. We also have to remember though, stuff has vanished from the Webstore before and then reappeared later, this has happened a lot in the Webstore's history. So they could very much reappear again, the Webstore is just having some shuffling going on.
But my beasts of chaos are being kicked back into the old world...
alas they are saved. age of sigmar is a shit rules system.
Reminds me of 2015, but not as bad because you can still play your game.
Welcome to the old world, I hope you enjoy being part of a community that will make its own rules if GW stop supporting you or let you use your army as a "counts as" so you can join in.
Thats good news to you tbh
This was expected. The studios can't share models. It's why CoS has been removing whfb models for the past six years.
Dispossessed have rules in the index. But will be removed when the battletome releases.
they already share models, look at the chaos warriors/knights etc for a perfect example. Better yet the goblins.
@@Adamantos-Eleanyou do realise they’re going to release the old chaos warriors for TOW right? And how they’re specifically using the pre battle for skull pass night goblins in the old world (the ones where you connect a body head leg and arms separately?)
@@Adamantos-Elean I'm talking about how the kits are boxed. the night goblins boxed for AoS and the night goblins boxed for TOW are from different editions of WHFB. AoS and TOW will share come concepts but they won't be officially sharing model kits.
Bring on the re-released slayers😊
This is why i stopped building Scourge Privateers (i.e. Misthavn) last year.
The writing has been on the wall, and I guess DE will become a full ToW army when the Umbraneth are finally released in AoS.
To be honest, I wouldnt even touch DoK right now.
@@Jackaljkljkl I have been wondering how they will handle separating witch elves and daughters of khaine. Part of me wondered if they'd just re-release the metal 6th edition witch elves for TOW, but another part thinks may r they will release a new witch elf box for DoK that's more suited to the AoS aesthetic - or just do away with normal witch elves completely and go full mutant Aelf!
I wanted to get into old world I love the lore but it’s been 5 months and still nearly everything out of stock. No bretonnia core boxes. I got a feeling with dwarfs they will make 5 core boxes sell out in seconds then that’s it. What are GW up to
they want the old world to die, but we can't allow that to happen.
@@JJKMail incompetent leadership is "what they are up to"
Yeah, it seems a very strange move for Cities.
I mean, if the goal eventually is to remove all Old World models then it seems odd to leave the Dark Elves behind.
@@90percentgeek yeh except they’re all out of stock I don’t think they’ll last long either.
@@90percentgeekdark elves can't be core in TOW because of Daughters of Khaine.
But they are in the faction pack?
They are, which begs the question what does that mean for models for them? Are they just relying on them being re-released for The Old World as a way of supplying them? Or will they be doing new Duardin models?
Loads of new generic, but AoS theme, dwarf sculpts about to release in AoS, while old world gets it’s old whfb sculpts back, maybe?
I have wondered, and possibly Aelf sculpts - once the Cities of Sigmar book is released.
Highland miniatures makes better Dwarves for cheaper. But i would like to see the Dwarf Journal
And you wonder why Kings Of War is a better option.
I really don't. Nothing against Kings of War, but I have a large army of mostly old metal Warhammer dwarfs which I can't wait to unleash on The Old World. Check out some of my dwarf battle reports!
All gone ?
All gone from the AoS section of the store, but I reckon they will be back in TOW section by the end of the month.
They have points for cities of sigmar and are not legends so it's not as clear cut.
I saw that after I made the video, and wondered if it was just meant to allow for models people already have, or if they're going to get all new separate AoS models to replace the ones going to TOW.
They have points for the index. They'll get removed when the CoS battletome releases.
Pointy Paints did a similar video making that point. I did wonder if they might release some new duardin or aelf models when the battletome lands.
I really dont understand why they have to remove models/units/factions and not just add them to one and leave in the other. Dont they want more money? It just creates unnecessary hatred between game systems as I did hate AOS because my fantasy was cancelled because of it.
Apparently there are some internal politics involved. It's about which balance sheet sales figures go on, and which departments are showing as being productive. If they are listed internally as TOW models but sell for AoS then the TOW get all the money on their targets despite the AoS team doing part of the work, and vice versa.
Honestly, if it's true then it makes me long for the days when there was just one Design Studio and they just cranked stuff out for all systems and encouraged you to mix and match across the systems.
in reality they are in the warscroll, lol
They're in the warscroll but you can't get the models at the moment, and I suspect when the models are re-released it will be as Old World models again.
It's not enough... Daddy is home, time for Aos to die.
Lol nope. TOW is specialist studio and it's HH for fantasy players.
So, the better game compared to the main stream game? 😆
@@mogwaiman6048 here he is again dreaming, skaventide flopped for a reason...all your fancy models mean nothing to people who want a real wargame. It may take years for games workshop to round the wagon but it will.
@@90percentgeek 90% shill LOL
@@Adamantos-Elean it's about the miniatures. Even the games are supplemental. TOW isn't even a competitive game. It's primarily narrative like HH is.
Luckily I didn't buy any dwarfs for my CoS army, I got only Dark elves. I have no interest in the old world.
That's fair enough. One city full of murder elves then! Are you using an existing city like Anvilguard? Or making your own?
@@90percentgeek I haven't played with them for a long time, but I used Anvilguard. I mostly used them as allies for my DoK.
@@Adamantos-Elean ?
@@Adamantos-Elean You are pathetic but whatever.
