All model paints used are from The Army Painter. I am now a member of their factory team! Their new Warpaint Fanatic line are really great top of the line paints. Full disclosure - Army painter pays me, but I spent months testing the paints before agreeing to sign. I would not recommend them to you guys if I wasn't perfectly happy using them myself. Anyways they are available here:

The pegasus trippant is contourny.
Does that mean "the wrong way around"? if so I was right. But you said it in a fancier way :)
@@alfadasfire, yes, normally an animal charge will face to the right, or Dexter side, of shield. The dexter side is considered the honorable side, as opposed to the left side, or sinister side. And left and right is the wearers left and right, not the viewer, just as with radiologic imaging.
Flying hores-y on flag facing wrong way
And here I thought it was that you were not suppose to have Azur and Gul together on the same heraldry.
@@empryme , Colours may not be on top of colours and metals may not be on top of metals, but they may be beside each other. Since azure (blue) and gules (red) are division of the field (party per pale, in this instance), then they are considered to be at the same level, so neither is on top.
few things give me more satisfaction than seeing someone tear open old mini blisters, and imagining the gnashing of teeth of the hoarders.
What good is a mini in a blister pack?
Good for storage, but that's it, unless you're saving it for when you think you're good enough to paint them@@Spark_Chaser
Hahaha that is some vivid imagery.
Babe wake up, Eric’s uploaded
New Eric channel just dropped!
“Is it the titan?”
“… no.”
*goes back to sleep*
"Models are meant to be built and enjoyed."
Exactly!
Having all those units just in black and red is criminal
Straight to jail
5th Edition Bretonnians where my army - never enjoyed fielding or painting anything else half as much. Thank you for sparking some now very old and very fond memories! What a superb force.
Your army is the army I wish I had, I would stare at them for hours in the magazines or in the shop. Brightly coloured knights on display just brings such joy to a man.
Love the army, traditional bright, individual knights.
Yeah I don’t like the new uniform style. Individual Knights look way better
@isamotahar2708 exactly, if you want uniform knights, buy Empire. If you want the joy of the knights of the round or ivanhoe Bretonian
@@isamotahar2708
I'm of a mixed mindset around it - and like it as a concept.
All the peasantry scum, single colour under their Duke.
But then things like Grail Knights should have their own colouring and heraldry. Same for Paladins. At least that's what I'm going to do.
Not 100% certain on Knights of the Realm yet. I like the idea of it looking like a unified army, while having unique heroes and lords.
@@Bearsofthelaw Exactly.
@@user-ds8rj2vc4v The joy of the hobby is each person can do their army in the colour they like. I totally agree a block of peasants and archers shpuld be in one lords colours, his levy. I just love the old 50's movies, each knight in his own heraldry. It's not a block army, it is men fighting for honour, and the oath they have teken. It speaks of a time long passed. I just feel the heart of the army has been lost with the one colour scheme army.
Awwww heck yeah! I've been painting up my classic High Elves Army, keeping the original minis & painting up ones I've found on sprues. I started with 6th edition fantasy in 2003. I never stopped painting minis since then. It's been a trip looking through my old army books. Fantastic video!!!
Niiiice! Love high elves too. I want to make a trireme for em like the old army books
They’re so lovely, and I completely agree with the missed opportunity of GW’s paint job
Also glad to see the old blisterpacks opened. I agree, they are meant to be build, painted and enjoyed.. Played with!
Huzzah,, thank you for sharing your journey. You are the Champion of Britonnia as far as I and maybe others are concerned. I know of no other channel that has dedicated more content than yours (*). Bless you Eric and may you continue your quest. And maybe take us along I live vicariously through you, so thank you again.
( * I'm not a big CZcams channel explorer though.)
Thank you, i would be proud to have that title and will keep working to earn it 😎
Great video. Congrats on your Bret army. In the 1990s when I started Warhammer Fantasy I bought a Bret army for my daughter who was interested at the time, but that interest waned. So it went into storage. Thankfully I didn't sell it. About 10 years ago I painted it up and played 7th and 8th edition with it right up until today. I went a different route with my Grailies. They are all white and gold, not multi-coloured like my knights so they really stand out. It is wonderful to see so many painting videos like yours due to Old World.
That sounds pretty cool! I remember having a moment while painting the grail knight standard bearer where it was primed white but the horse and armour had been painted and it was like pure white heraldry and it looked pretty awesome
@@EricsHobbyWorkshopif you had painted seven gold swords, it would have looked like the kingsguard.
The bright green bases and movement trays hit me right in the nostalgia.
Escalifont is an excellent name. I also always name my characters with something in mind, usually something only I know, but it adds immersion to your force.
your original bretonnia video is why i started to collect it myself, didn't rieally like the look of 6th ed. models and those are the ones you tend to see more often, you showcased all those pretty 5th editions sculpt and i fell in lovewith them. I am now the proud owner of a full 5th edition bretonnian army.
the smell when opening the old blisters take me back to the good old times 😉
The herald pegasus is backwwards on one side
it's facing away from the hoist on both sides! Cowardly...
It's backwards on both sides
It's obviously the Heraldry of Sir Robin the Brave.
It’s backwards
Eric. Fantastic! I am in my early thirties and loved the Bretonnians when I was a teenager. I just opened The Old World Bretonnian Starter box like 10 minutes before I saw this video. It just arrived today. Like you, it is like a childhood dream coming true. I couldn't afford the "Regiment" boxes back then. Now that I have the Bretonnian starter box, I am not throwing it out. I get a second chance on owning my first "Regiment" box. Man! So exciting. Thanks for posting this video today. It made the experience all the better. Good luck on your knightly quests.
I love this so much. As someone who also got into the hobby around 2000 and got back in about 20 years later I relate hard to the satisfaction of finishing your childhood dream army
Exact same here. Have spent the last few years trying to finish 4 childhood armies 😅
I miss this kind of Warhammer. The old armies are amazing.
I'm hoping they release a new Empire Army soon bc that's the one I'm interested in and I had no idea what Warhammer was when they canceled Old World, I was 7, so I appreciate them bringing it back.
Ah man, your commentary at the end really warmed my heart. I had a very similar experience. In mid 1995 my friends got into 40k as we started secondary school. I went into the local store and picked up the brochure - it was the one with the Imperator Titan on the front. I did *like* the 40k stuff, but in the main I'd gone in because of peer pressure. But what I fell in love with was the spread of Warhammer Fantasy stuff: the page was dominated by the artwork of Eltharion vs Grom. It was so beautiful and powerful and vivid (I grew up in Basingstoke so wasn't used to any of those things). I got into WFB at that moment, though I didn't get my first models until Christmas 95. I didn't play a game for the first eight months or so of being in the hobby, until some others at school took an interest in WFB. But in that time I just soaked in the lore and the art and the models. Warhammer Fantasy/The Old World/whatever was and always will be my truest hobby love!
Thanks for sharing your Dream with us, Eric.
Very impressive army. I go through slumps with painting and creating. Then I'll see a video like this and get that charge back. Time to go work.
Lovely army, Eric. I hope it brings you 20 years of joy after your 20-year wait.
Great attention to detail and I love that you are fulfilling a childhood dream in your adulthood. Keep it up!!
I know I say it all the time, but I love this channel. Hands-down my favorite 40k channel out there. It really encompasses everything that goes into warhammer, painting, converting, making terrain, army planning, big dream projects and now battle reports. What I like most is that you finish so many of your projects and have big fun collections of models, armies and terrain to play with. Thanks for all the great videos brother
Mini Wargaming Bunker is awesome. My parents live in Welland. I stop by every time I go to visit them. Hope you had a great time.
I also share your love of the puns in the names of your units. I use puns in my creative work, too. For my joy, if nobody else's.
I like how small the hippogryph is. Big enough to scare the enemy but still within appropriate scale
I love your videos not only because of the hobby, but mainly because they are very relaxing and allow me to feel the atmosphere. And congrats on finishing the army!🎉
This is my favourite video of yours by far. As a kid I didn't have a lot of money, and I didn't really play the game, but I always loved the look of those old Bretonnian models and I would fantasise about collecting them. I think I had one or two of the cheap boxes that came with 8 plastic longbowmen or 2 knights of the realm, and I had so much fun painting them (I did a very poor job, but they were mine!). I hope to see more Bretonnian content from you!
Oh, and the pegasus is incorrectly mirrored! On one side it's passant or trippant, on the other it is sinister!
Im going to guess that the Pegasus on the banner is facing the wrong way. As in its supposed to point towards the poll
From what I've read, a charge facing to sinister it's not against the rules but it's just rare. I am guessing though, that you are correct and this is what Eric was looking for.
I really enjoy your videos and like yourself, ive had this dream of a Bretonnian army since the 90s that I will finally realise. Currently working on my Green Knight and 3 Grail Knights from the days of yore, your videos motivate me a lot. So thank you good sir, blessings of the Lady upon you.
Dude well done! Your models look beautiful and I'm glad you were willing to share. You're awesome :D
Crazy free hand on the great banner bearer 👏👏
One of the most inspiring ideas and videos on painting. Thank you!
Exquisite 🙂 I absolutely love this, Eric. Congratulations on this lifelong achievement! You've got a new subscriber on Erics Hobby Battle Reports. #bobsnbangs
Awesome, thank you! Welcome to the inner circle of early EHBR subscribers
Amasing army! Love this old school sculpts too! Just tarted my own Bretonnians, so thanks for this video - full of AWESOMENESS and INSPIRATION!!!
What a great story to go along with your army. I, too, have that old flier from back in the day. I used to gaze at it for great swathes of time
Great video and the detail on those minis is incredible. You did a great job on your armies.
8:47 OH!!! SEEING THOSE BRING BACK SUCH UFF! those are so nostalgic! I need those in my life! those old blisters where so amazing! because you could buy one beautiful tin miniature that was affortable as a kid and not like these 50-100 euro packs.
Excellent video mate, really appreciated the soft nostalgic outro. Reminded me of wandering into a GW for the first time in 2006, what a blast from the past
Hey Eric if your into knights and like to read I highly recommend The Red Knight series by Miles Austin (Canadian). He’s the one that got me wishing I could have build my own “Lance” with the Bretonians
Always kept my Bretonnians ... even from my first as a kid in the later '80s. Always used foundry and others when needed, as Perry's and other companies. Glad to see others have too .. cheers.. great job 👍👍
Pretty cool, my man 👍🏻 That’s a great army with lots of love put on it. And that’s what this hobby is all about
Ive loved this project. Its made it even more diffcult to choose between Bret and TK than it already was.
I have to admit, the 6th edition army books are something special to me. Those are the look and feel i always associate with WFB. Those and Warhammer Age of Reckoning
I have a tomb kings video coming soon too 👀
Even though I'm not a fan of Bretonnia, I really enjoyed this whole video. It is very nice and heartwarming. Skaven give a thumbs up. 🙂
So glad that people are excited about this game. I'm hoping it's a long-term success, and GW supports it.
BTW that damsel on foot is one of the most classic models citadel ever produced.
Jeez they look absolutely epic - Like yourself, back in the very late 90s or early 00s I was attracted to Warhammer purely by the photos of Bretonnian Armies I saw in my sisters boyfriends White Dwarf mags (and including that same magazine you showed in the video, got it upstairs still!)
eric, your passion is infectious. great looking models, and a warm fuzzy trip in the wayback machine for me. have so much fun playing with them!
I let myself get talked out of starting the army twice back in 7th and 8th edition. Third time is the charm and nothing will stop me this time.
2:28 I saw miniatures completely made in the style of Monty Python. Such a detailed army deserves to be presented in the Museum of Glory or printed in a booklet as an example for the following modelers.
Fantastic video my friend! I have always dreamed of having a Bretonnian army. Back when I got into fantasy I wanted Bretonnian’s but the range was quite limited and the rule set was old so instead I went with the new shine empire models.
But now with the old world my chance to collect the noble Knights of Bretonnia has come forth once more! For the lady!
those knights look awe-inspiring! beautiful job
I get your name scheme. My Orcs and Goblins army was the Bloo Toofs. Their symbol was Blue tusks on the banners and any exposed lower teeth or teeth-like object.
The look of the old Warhammer fantasy stuff just hits me differently. I'm sad the dark elves ain't coming back tho. I loooved them as a child. I'm still thinking about what army to pick
The kit-bashed Duke on Louen's hippogriff looks epic. I have that model, Louen included. It's a lovely piece, but Louen doesn't have as much vintage charm as the monster does. I might have to kit-bash a rider as well!
Such awesome work.
Great looking army! It was excellent to meet you at the tournament as well!
this all looks phenomenal Eric - congrats on getting everything all painted up
Youve really nailed the Bretonian style and themes including your scenery. I wish I had half your skill, especially that freehand heraldry work.
I suspect GW has displayed the latest Old world Bret's in a uniformed colour scheme so as not to intimidate or overwhelm new hobbyists to the game.
I'm in the same boat. Played and never stopped collecting Bretonnia. After all these years my dream army is on the table again with a new edition and I cannot be happier!
Your love for the classic Bretonnia made relive the good ol’ days of Warhammer Fantasy in my flgs. Plus, somehow I have a rekindled interest in old high fantasy. Which made me back the Half Tilt kickstarter by TT Combat. Have you heard of it? The KS ends soon, but I think you might like it.
Heraldry is colour on colour needs colour and metal! Also dude love the channel. I'm def painting my 2.5k bretonnian army in ALL DIFFERENT HERALDRY. It's the funnest part, freehand drawing dragons and lions. Dream come true.
I am inspired. Old Bretonnia models are dusted off and ready to be finished. Thanks Eric for another truly inspirational hobby vid. You are also to blame for my Black Templar army 😝
Eric - Some of you probably weren't even alive in 2003.
Me - Nonsense, that was only a deca- oh no, that was 21 years ago.
I'm a simple man. I see a notification for Eric's Hobby Workshop and I click it.
Very inspiring, thank you. I needed this!
All hail Eric, the true king of Bretonnia!
Those Foundry HYW models are the old GW/Citadel models that made up the Brets pre-5th edition. Technically they're GW tournament legal.
Awesome work as always. I really hope you're still working on the titan, can't wait to see how that turns out as well. You are one of my biggest art model inspirations. Keep up the great work.
Living the dream, very inspirational... about to embark upon a similar, nostalgic journey!! Look forward to more content around Bretonnia and the Old World!
Looks great! I know for Necromunda and Blood Bowl using silly or pun filled names is a great thing to do and often a fun way to attach a visual + narrative theme to your minis.
The Pegasus on the banner is running away! It should show its bravery by facing the enemy!
12:47 - I still have that one, in perfect condition.
My first visit to that fascinating little shop selling that obscure hobby.
The impact it had on my childhood can not be overstated.
same here :) Good condition ,just my kid found it a couple of months back and he tore out the first page... 🥲
Great job Eric! Keep it up my brother in The Lady!
8:30 Color on color. You need color on metal. If you want a blue and red field, you need a pale of one of the heraldic metals between them. Sometimes a sufficiently large charge in a heraldic metal, such as the argent pegasus, can do in a pinch, though.
Such a fine video 😀 I love it when you refurbish older models 🙂
Love your army! AWESOME!!!!
A friend of mine is getting back into Warhammer and wargaming entirely...she was not happy about the massive project that she had broken down to complete ended with the enitre AoS debacle, with both a wood elf and a bretonnian army that had detachments that could be used with the other for it.
I've still got an old Kislev force somewhere stashed away that I never got around to painting that I had, originally, planned for some things with 8th edition in smaller force size, but in the End Times events that were planned, I'd stored them away and expanded my vampire counts along with building a Vampire Coasts detachment that I'd also been collecting for.
If you really want to screw with older Warhammer Fantasy players, a vampire coasts detachment really managed to do that. Unfortunately, unlike most of the smaller army lists that GW put out over the years for things, Vampire Coasts one major issue is that it doesn't scale up to the massive battles that well, though a revamp of them could be interesting thanks to Total WarHammer having them with some extra units, but they worked wonderfully as a detachment...because vampiric gunlines and cannons confused the hell out of a lot of people.
As a side note considering the vampires, their studio Bretonnian army looks like they might be the blood dragons color scheme there...
And I'm considering if I should try coming up with some sort of rebasing for my Lion/Dragon Rampant army of knights and footmen for Old World. Not GW minis, but they're interesting, though I'd need to end up with several proxies for it since I decided to include wardogs in it
Very impressed, great job!
Eric that pamphlet unlocked a core memory of mine. I was obsessed with that image. I took it everywhere with me as a kid. And now that I’m an adult with a budget I’m finally make to collect and paint my dream army the lizardmen. Your channels amazing keep up the good work
So much love for this, great stuff dude.
Really wonderful video. Your passion for your army comes through loud and clear.
Ive been very excited to get my hands on some old world. Being a newer hobbyist I never got to experience it back in the day. Biding my time until they release the dwarfs.
Gorgeous paint jobs Eric! I always look forward to your videos.
I'm just now collecting them but Bretonnia was also my dream fantasy army back in the day. I could never afford to get into Fantasy back then. When I got back into 40k in 8th I planned on finally getting into Fantasy too, only to find out it was gone 😭 I'm so excited about Old World!!
so cool man, well done it looks epic.
Great video! I remember fielding my Empire army at a tournament when it was first completed - it’s a great feeling. So congratulations to your Brettonia army!
And thanks for a very nice video that takes be back to my early days of the hobby in the 90’s. Long live the Old World!
Love to see a classic collection like this continue to grow and be used!
A beautiful army indeed! Love your vids!
Wow! This was very entertaining to watch and very interesting, thanks for uploading this video!
Those grail knights are really starting to look like Attilan Rough Riders.
The army looks awesome !
The army is looking great! Can't wait to see what else you add! I'm working on my vampire counts for the old world!
Spotted a LOTR miniature hiding amongst the Bretonnians :)
congrats, great work. Enjoyed the video!
Love these Old World content videos! Keep em coming man!
Saweet! Looks really good!
Excellent taste in minis. Foundry is amazing.
