There is something magical in these videos that keeps alive a time of simple pleasure and youth no longer in existence, as instant communication has worn away expectation of true friendship and glorious entertainment.
This challenging number involving much perspiration, claustrophobia and itchiness, was done our first season in 1955. I refer to it early in my memoir THE ACCIDENTAL MOUSEKETEER as not being one of my favorite memories. There some good ones, too.
Lonnie man! You've been my favorite since I first watch you as a kid in the 50s. You and Annette were my favorites, I will arrive home just to watch you two. Thank You for being such a huge part in my life. Alexander.
Lonnie says he hated being a Mousekeeter but oddly he can't stop talking about it!
The internet is FULL of lies. I have NEVER said, in my many interviews online/TV/radio etcetera, nor in any of my articles and two memoirs that I HATED being a Mouseketeer. DO NOT BELIEVE MUCH OF WHAT YOU READ ONLINE, it is a much worse source than print has become and TV. There were things I did hate about the series, situations I was put in during and long after the '50s but there are things that I found marvelous and substantive as an adult for sundry reasons. I have tried to change some of the lies or inaccuracies with IMDB, Wikipedia and others but they make it SO DIFFICULT to get back to the truth I, ostensibly, given that up. The one that says Walt could NOT remember my name is spurious, as is that I only saw him 4 times in the 3+ years we filmed. I suggest you read my memoir THE ACCIDENTAL MOUSEKETEER [2014, updated/retitled from CONFESSIONS OF AN ACCIDENTAL MOUSEKETEER in 2009].
I still try to correct errors about the show, Shana, WHEN THEY COME TO MY ATTENTION, but I can stop talking/writing about it as I will right now: mouseketeer lonnie burr dot com
Lonnie Burr Yeah Lonnie, just yesterday I read your book, it was a very interesting read, I had a good time reading it!
OK thanks for putting me straight on that. I got that impression from the Tom Snyder interview where you stated your agent/mom forced you to do the show and how you hated putting on those damn mouse ears.
Ha ! Thanks for the post it was most entertaining !
