Wow - was Sharon the most talented Mouseketeer!.... ? hardly just any regular kid!!! (I’ve read that Disney wanted regular kid next door types.) I am blown away by her dancing.

Sharon does tend to strike a kind of a middle ground between Darlene's effortless talent and Annette's girl-next-door naturalness... she is my third/fourth favourite.
Unfortunately, it's as shallow a business as ever, so no matter her talent and charm, I doubt they viewed her as fitting the narrow standard of beauty of the time.

Thank you for your comment! I completely agree with you - it's always a shame when things that were once great go out of style. But hey, at least we can watch videos like this and pretend we're living in the golden age of tap-dancing!

Sharon Baird maybe the greatest of them all. Unbelievably gifted
kid who was sometimes forgotten in the Annette heat/steam.

Criminally underrated. She carried the group in a lot of those dance numbers, especially the more complicated ones.

Sharon and I were the only two PROFESSIONALS on the series with 37 Mouseketeers; we had worked together on "The Colgate Comedy Hour" among other shows. 4 guys, 5 girls were on the show for the run 1955-59: the late Annette and Doreen ans Karen, Sharon and our only twice convicted, served time felon, Darlene. 4 were fired the first season, the majority lasted only ONE SEASON, 2 lasted 2 seasons: the late Cheryl and Dennis. The 9 signed 7 year contracts that had verbiage mentioning payment for show "items" sold but NONE of us ever received a penny for the BILLIONS of EARS that we made famous throughout the world. The 'older' "Mice", as we referred to ourselves, were Darlene, Tommy, Bobby. Cubby and the late Karen were "meesketeers", the youngest, and the majority, like Sharon, me, my girlfriend the first year Annette, and the late Doreen were in the middle of the age groups. In her autobiography, Annette complimented my dancing/acting/singing, averred I was her first boyfriend and gave her that first kiss and wrote, "I fell for Lonnie like a ton of bricks!" I only learned this in the mid-80s when Annie's book came out but I still find it very cool to read in December, 2023~!

Oh yeah, Sharon Baird had an amazing career with Sid & Marty Krofft! After her time on the Mickey Mouse Club, she went on to work with the Krofft brothers on several of their popular TV shows, such as "H.R. Pufnstuf" and "The Bugaloos." She was known for her exceptional dancing skills and her ability to bring characters to life through her performances. It's great to see how her talent and hard work allowed her to have such a long and successful career in the entertainment industry!
