When I think of ThatDudeinBlue as a youtube channel I mostly think about this car and what it has done for me. A long journey from my first real car review all the way to a 700HP supercharged monster. The Smurrf Mustang accident was incredibly stressful but thankfully after paint and body the car is now back in my possession. So after all the years of driving, modifying, and boosting...has it been worth keeping around? Let's talk about it.
    Some of the upgrades:
    RTR axle back exhaust
    Stainless works long tube headers
    VMP Gen 3 supercharger
    Eibach pro kit springs
Pretty much the rest of the car is cosmetic!
Stay awesome. Drift into blue squad and subscribe!

With the AC, see if the compressor is turning when you have it switched on. If it does turn on and you are confident the right amount of refrigerant is in it, it will probably be expensive. Hopefully it's just a relay or pressure switch. It's hard to diagnose without seeing the high and low pressures or using a multimeter.

    • @jh77sly
      @jh77sly Před 4 lety +3

yeah, with the AC running, check the lines under the hood where they go into the firewall. One should be cold. If it's not cold, then you check the compressor, sensors/switches to make sure it's even getting signal to engage. If the one is cold, then it's probably the blend door.

Finally obtained my first Mustang this past March. 13 Mustang Gt....I'm 48 now and have loved, and wanted one, the Mustang since around 10 years old. Purchased it with 38.4 K miles, completely stock, and have been busy ever since kinda making it my own. First thing I ordered the night I got it home was a red Ford Racing shift knob/ball. Other things have been.....cleaning up and repainting calipers and rotors, upgrading struts and shocks, rear springs, panhard bar, CAI, and most recent...Stainless Works LT's/X-pipe and Ford Performance Sport mufflers. Have done all the work myself and am loving life and this car.
2014 was the cutoff year for model when I started looking and I couldn't be happier with my 13. It is an absolute joy to drive 😁.

Really glad to see Smurrf back. As I’m watching this video, and listening to you describe your car, I’m very impressed that you have kept this car for so long. It’s also impressive to hear you say you still love your car. 90% percent of the car CZcamsrs that I follow have gotten rid of the car they had when I started watching their channel. I may be a little biased, but I really love owning my 2012 GT as well. I’ve only owned it for a year but I’ve dropped quite a bit of money into modifying it. Nothing too expensive (except the long tube install). My mods were very simple but makes the car really fun to drive. Barton short throw and changing to 3.73 gears, combined with the sounds of my catless Pypes long tubes and x-pipe (with res and muffler deletes), make this car really fun to drive...for now. Continued success with the channel. Thank you for your channel. Holla.

I have a 2014 GT Premium and have learned that gremlins of modifying a car recently...
I tried a full suspension upgrade (lower control arms, sway bars, shocks and struts, lowering springs (1.5in lower) caster camber plates, and pan hard bar) and it's been 5 weeks and in still ironing out kinks. Aftermarket caster camber plates were defective and so were the STR Koni struts. Fron Sway bar end links go out fast when using a stiffer suspension so had to change those as well. Now the front sway bar stock bushing I used are squeaking.
But as you said us car guys make good things worse...but we love it. Love your videos and the smurff. Glad you got it bad.

I'm out of things to do to it without going full race car and part of the fun of the car hobby is actually being able to do stuff to your cars.
Just don't get a super car or some other $100k+ car like every other idiot in the CZcams car world. Most of your viewers like the Mustang because they can relate to it and its attainable for the average Joe.

if its leaking out of the ac check the fittings on the lines. if the compressor isnt coming on check your high and low pressure switches. you can jump the switch with a paper clip and see if it kicks on the compressor. with ac on see if there is power at the compressor itself, might have just gone bad. glad to see you got the car back!

I've always originally wanted a foxbody 5.0, but after seeing smurff over time on your channel, I grew to love the 13-14 GT. A year ago knew I had to have one for that full send Coyote 5.0.

I've had my CTS- V wagon (manual) since 2012 also, and I have 118,000 on it so I've driven it about as much as you've driven Smurf. I'm also on stock magneride shocks and Eibach pro kits springs, haha. For me, deciding to keep it or sell it comes down to how much I still enjoy driving it vs how much it's costing to maintain it. It's been really solid and hasn't cost me much in terms of general wear and tear. I've had to replace the shocks once, I'm replacing the original clutch soon. Had to replace one window regulator.
For me I haven't reached that tipping point yet. I think that means, for me, I'm going to keep it until it starts really falling apart. Or unless some other external factor forces me to sell, but so far so good. It's been really solid, and I still really enjoy driving it. For now, it's still completely reliable and a joy to drive; I feel like I'm going to keep it until that changes drastically.

My 2012 Boss with 40000 miles had a clicking sound at start up when I turned it on and hot air blew out, Ford said it was one of the actuators ( 3 total under the dash board). They fixed it. Then at around 48000 miles the ac compressor clutch went out (the rubber wore out). Replaced and had the ac pro charge put in and has been working ( now have 760000 miles) . Great review

I'd love to see you keep smurf as long as possible and possibly just update it over time, maybe BC coils (leave same ride height) but get rid of the stock struts. Maybe build up the rear end to keep it mechanically sound and be able to launch from a dig with some upgraded axels and diff. I'm always going to be a fan of the channel and your future projects but would be nice to see smurf always in your hands and like I said slowly fix and upgrade some of the weaknesses. Keep up the great content David! Also as a detailer for 10 years you're products are fantastic👊
