This video is for all the people that come into my twitch chat asking for tips and how to start the game. Also I didn't mention it in the video but there is a way to farm Greyoll (the big dragon). If you run back to the grace soon as she dies then you'll get the runes and she respawns.
How do you know that the other ppl that put out videos only have 50 hours playtime? Just cause you sat in a basement and played for 2500 hours doesn't mean that the "actual souls youtubers" that have 1000 hours in aren't 100 times better than you.
You could probably play some meta PvP though if you use your nose as an extra finger. I can't believe you even show yourself looking like that 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Literally 100 percent this game... but I have the strongest need to watch every Elden Ring video I come across.
Same tbh lol
lol same
Same here I just can’t get enough of this masterpiece
I've never played a souls game ..and elden ring is my first
@@tonycruz3681 gl to you! I just hope you like it.
31:38 "try not to die"
you saved my playthrough with this very sage wisdom, thank you youwy
absolutely insane video, no other video goes so in depth for the first hour. went from not knowing a single thing to being able to comfortably play and understand what everything does. amazing video man.
Great video, thanks for the start!
One note was that this video was realllly hard to follow without pausing and rewinding frequently. And if you get a little lost you have to scan the video for landmarks to find out where the heck you are. Some map screenshots would have been incredibly useful.
He talks far too fast. Ive had to watch with the speed slowed down.
I just started the game a few days ago, beat tree sentinel and then didn't feel like exploring the open world so I hope this video puts me back on track
what a godsend
how is it?
Beat most of the game by now
Have been stalling on trying malenia for a few days now, basically just her and the final boss left
Had a lot of fun with the game
Siofra River has a Somber 5 Stone and the Ghost Glovewort 1 through 5 for your summon. For an early OP Summon Banished Knight Engvall is very easy to get in the Catacombs all tge way up tge river that Patches Cave is on, where Yura helps you with the Bloody Finger invasion. 16 Mind is what it takes to summon him tho, so keep that in mind lol
Good video! Helped me out a lot coming back after a good 2+ year break. I'll admit.. it was challenging following you through a few areas that I didn't remember, but once I paused and figured out those spots I was good to go. One little thing about golden runes that wasn't mentioned that i'm sure new players will appreciate is that you don't lose them when you die... I always save my runes and use them for something specific. Whether it be leveling up or buying something, I try to be as close to zero runes as i can, only using golden runes to get to that mark.
Very helpful, I just upgraded my PC and on a quest to download all games I've missed in the past 5 years! This was one of them!
Just starting the game and this is by far the most In depth guide I seen so far. Thanks!
Yeah
I’ve just started yesterday,it’s my very first souls like game!(ive always been into FPS shooters)
I’m loving it,but do find it difficult in places..especially the movement,it’s almost clunky like coming from the FPS side of things!
The music, and ability to sneak around and back stab is great!
I just get overwhelmed when I have say a giant in front of me and lots of NPCs firing crossbows.
Practice makes perfect though..and I accept the new challenge
Nice video mate. You actually leave info on the screen long enough to see it. And you explain everything 👍🏻.
What level is your character on after 2000 hours?
when i first got the game some people dropped me a load of runes enough to go to lvl 303 but i quit cause even wit the lvls i was buns. now Im back to play it the right way and experience it the fun way especially before shadow of the erdtree drops
Man I gave this game a try and it’s a beautiful game but I got discouraged didn’t know how to start or where to go thanks for this I realize Elden ring is one of those games if ur new to souls games ur going to need a basic tutorial cause it doesn’t guide u well
A good reason to start with crafting is that you can make and use fire arrows to great effect in Stormveil. There are fire barrels everywhere, and you can blow up enemies from stealth with a fire arrow. All the servants and most of the birds in that place can be blown up. Poison arrows are great for them stupid bell bearing hunters (the red Night, Knights/Try night, but hole.)
Nice work, youwy. A fresh beginner's guide makes sense with DLC looming, as that likely draws new players who decide to buy both original/DLC content at once. Plus, if you wanted, you could easily expand the "beginner" series with shorter videos on more specific topics according to whatever categories make sense. Could be beginners guide to two-handed-sword build, dual-weapon, build, incantation build, sorcery build, etc. It could be beginners guide to poise break build, status proc, intelligence spells, faith spells, etc. It could be beginner's guide to swords, axes, hammers, spells. Lot of ways to go with it for new content.
Even though this video is only 90 mins long, this literally took me a whole day (and a bottle of wine!). Can't wait for the DLC .......
I'm at 25 mins and it took me two bottles of days and 1 wine... 😂
I have been struggling in this game and even deleted it a couple times. Thank you man, I’m really e going this game
Easiest bleed weapon to obtain to kill Greyoll (the big dragon in Caelid) is the flail in the village right by the grace where you get the horse. It's in the back of one of the carriages in a chest.
News of DLC depot... And youwy posting a video for new players.
The stars are aligned my friends... DLC news imminent!! 🎉🎉
you were correct
when youwy released the skybox tier list video i thought he was in trouble. i thought “this man has lost it. fromsoft give him the dlc before he starts making tier list about grass!” now we are here and he is still making solid videos and it seems his sanity is still intact.
This is exactly the video I needed the first time I ever played this game... It's the first souls game I've ever played and about half of my first 50 hours with this game was spent learning how the game works lol this video would've helped me so much
500 getting to know the game is crazy. I was debating to keep following the guide at 45 mins but this comment made me realize that I will continue the guide
For the troll carts, you can also follow them until they reach their destination if you happen to be struggling with killing one of them, though this might take a while lol
Plan on getting the game during the next steam sale. Preciate the vid🙋🏽♂️
Update: got the game a while ago, now have around 150hrs. Fantastic game would recommend to all
I’m at an inbetween place. Have played 130 hours and am level 53. But Im a bit lost as to where to go next. Got a load of caves and dungeons Ive not explored plus various quests. Ive not finished Stormveil Castle either. Then there’s the building up stats thing.
Im surprised with your views on attacking on horseback 😮. That has saved my life so many times. It was a bit clunky at first but now I can do it with my eyes shut. So easy to run around an enemy hacking at them, and if you have to sprint away to drink some potion thats easily done too. The giants, in particular, go down really easily doing this.
Vagabond for min/max Faith builds that demand 12 or more dex for weapons, Prophet for pure faith and Strength Faith. I nervous sweat with anything higher than 10 dex.
Finally, wondering when you would do this
THANK YOU for this, really needed it!
You’re a legend bro
I have had Elden ring in the ps5 for so long and finnaly decided to play it hopefully this helps
To any new players the only thing that is really useful to make with crafting is the gold pickled fowl feet which gives you around 50% more runes from enemies you kill. The cookbook can be purchased from patches in murkwater cave. Very helpful for leveling up quicker
Man everytime i wanna try elden ring I watch one of these videos and lose all motivation..who wants to all this before starting the actual game..
You don't have to. I'm new to souls games and I'm 12 hours in and level 30 and have killed a bunch of bosses. You have all the stuff you need in the first area to progress, this isn't necessary.
You don't have to do any of this. You can just play the game and explore. Some people would rather get powerful before they actually play the game, for various reasons.
In my case, I beat the game twice when it was released and am playing again and forgot where a couple of the items are. But my first run was totally blind. I didn't look any of this stuff up. You can absolutely do it
If you start playing u will know that videos like this are absolutely needed among new players cus even if you do exactly everything this video’ve shown, you’ll still get absolutely wrecked by the very first tree sentinel that you see right at the start.
Hey thanks so much guy! Easy sub and like! Just bought the Game and its downloading right now. Late as hell to it but Mythic Raiding Wow just destroys peoples brains like mine. hahaha! Meaning i enjoy a Good game and cant believe im just starting, so thanks man.
Just got myself a copy of the game. I also have been using mouse and keys. As a player who has more experience with a controller, it's been hell learning the key binds. I'm about to buy an Xbox controller.
dude need part 2!!!
Allegedly the expansion is suppose to be coming on February and if so im goin back to get my character and build right .
Elden ring is my first souls game, i was straight up getting molested for 5 hours straight before I got mad and started to fight on a horse back, I didn’t go against a boss yet bcs I know I ain’t gonna be able to use my horse but I can take on whole groups of enemies no matter how strong and never get hit, the only thing that can manage to hit me on torrent is a giant and even that only if he has a sword. I kinda feel like a sucker for playing it like this but on a horseback I‘m able to earn runes and level up until I‘m strong enough to take enemies head on
I did everything up until 1:12:00 , should I just do limgrave and the castle before trying to go to Caelid and Liurnia?
Thanks man, playing my first walkthrough. Helped out a bunch!
Would you pick vagabond or confessor for a strength/faith build? Confessor has more drip if I say so ;)
47:28 this merchant has some nice stuff
Thank you for this guide dude.
If you talk to Blaidd in the ruins where you got the Axe Talisman he will help you fight the Bloodhound Knight for the Bloodhounds Fang Curved Greatsword and he will give you a Somber 2 Stone.
And let you buy the talisman from the giant blacksmith outside of the manor
Believe it or not , i just wished a video like this yesterday and i looked for it but didn't find anything, this was in the right moment! Thanks
Dude over 900 hrs and I just learned you only have to hit the trolls once to get them to stop
I did so much wrong, instead of getting golden seeds etc. I went to margit and tried to do him for 9 hours straight..
Feel like this vid is both good, well done although rushed for us beginners especially, but also somewhat a mistake (for most beginners) as it's telling likely too much. I mean, exploring the world and looking around is a big deal I think with games like this. But if one follows this before actually starting playing normally, then a lot is just passed by so fast already without that new and good impression.

I got jipped. I lead him around the bridge corner but he went on the ledge with me. I jumped around trying to escape i fell off and died, he fell off and died. I got the the gold ash of war but never got the runes. I ran back to pick them up. Thinking there was 55k there, i swallowed a golden foot. Nothing. Nada. I had 0 runes to begin with before i fell off. My rune pick up marker had 0.
Edit: i was farming the metal ball drop, got up to 82k then randomly it gave me 9,720 runes.
thank you i havent played any souls games since bloodborne and DS3 and feel like such a noob all over again 😂 time to git gud
I would recommend stone sword key r the starter item
Nice work my friend, just subbed to your channel. Only 9 hours in and I needed this badly.
Can u show how to get mimic tear without fighting radahn please 😊
While I appreciate the effort that went into this guide, a beginner will not be able to remember everything that was laid out for them. You'd have to have a good deal of experience exploring in the game (i.e. someone with 2500 hrs 😉) to run around equipping yourself before actually playing the game. My advice to a beginner? Glean the advice from the beginning regarding how to start you character and why you shouldn't use certain mechanics such as heavy load, etc. and just learn by trial and error and exploration.
What? I'm a beginner, this is my first Souls game ever. I'm only 35 minutes in and this video has helped me tremendously, and I have remembered many things that are laid out thus far in my viewing. I was absolutely lost before watching this guide as there is little direction in this game compared to other RPGs such as Skyrim or even WoW which I've played both a lot. This game is an RPG, yes, but it's so different.
pov: you bought the game when it came out but still havent played it since its so overwhelming
Kinda my situation openworld game like this is hard and theres not rlly a guide
@@user-oq3ll1iz8i i get it. i had gotten it cause a friend had, and they told me what to do and it made 0 sense😂
Why did I watch this whole thing, I have a couple hundred hours on like 3 separate playthroughs😂
Where’s the other walkthrough with the Blasphemous blade?
Thanks, this really helped start me off! F*ck that Fallingstar Beast!!
Yeah im brand new player just play 550h into the game
My first hour was spent roaming the map and not knowing what to do😢
I accidently used the golden foot while trying to get out of the horse so😢
Now do this but for rune level 1.
1) Sprint to Raya lucaria and get abducted to volcano Manor
2) get serpent hunter
3) Profit
I didn't know waldo played elden ring
I played wretch and did the tutorial but I only made it to level 2 😭😭
Best tip for all souls games, don't be scared to look up walkthroughs, don't be scared to ask where to go. Fromsoft does a good job of making the first playthrough less fun than consecutive playthroughs when it comes to knowledge about the game.
this is horrible advice, thats how you actively ruin the fun of the game
@@dusk126 I'd argue that wondering around aimlessly in these games is one of the least fun experiences. I looked up speedrun strats on some of my first playthroughs and it made the game 10x more fun. I can see why some people wouldn't want to do that, but if you are really stuck, just look up a guide
@@samthepigman4069 In a way I agree. If it comes down to quiting for good or watching a small video on what to do, just watch the video.
@@dusk126 I almost quit.didnt know to lock on,how to 2hand,how to upgrade. Lost in sellia after 2hrs. Guide helped me alot.
I dunno, I think blind playthroughs are almost a necessity for games like this, when you're told what to r
Prepare for, how to handle it whan to feel where to go, it just sucks out all the autonomy from the game, nothing is surprising, nothing requires thought, idk that level of being told what you should do levels on like, job training so that your employees don't screw up, but in a video game, you're free to make mistakes
I am indeed NOT a beginner. 1500+ hours in the game. Just like your content broski.
More like first 6 hours for me😂
2500 hours dam im only at 1000
Nighttime and notnighttime
Wow this was a great guide. Any tips or follow up guide in terms how to continue to build your character if I plan on using the same weapon or something simular?
28:09
I am starting to think that I should not have purchased this game.
Why
@@user-bm6yd8ko1g I am struggling. I have only had it a few months.
Should i get elden ring or nah
yes
yes
ITS CALLING!!!!! TARNISHED
@@RainGamma alr have it
you are absolute dogs hit at giving directions i rewinded this video more then i played the game
who hasnt played elden ring yet?
You’d be surprised
I haven't played dark souls either.
Me. I keep trying then giving up.
Rides straight past the morning star, you literally need that to kill the sleeping dragon, I could definitely do a guide for beginners way better and more efficiently.
Then do it mr. 5 subscribers I’m sure the people are dying to see your take
@@simuIasian OK MR 1 SUBSCRIBER 😂
Mini maps are for wimps anyway. I like being lost… wtf
none plays the games anymore. everyone watches how to play a the game tutorials and how to get an amazing head start and get spoon fed, took 1.25h to explain the mechanics, I bet anyone that played the game for that long would have done so themselves. go play the damn things yourselves and have fun getting things on your own
cheers
Noobs
Just got this game, pretty disappointed with the combat mechanics, lack of direction, engagement and the plain landscape. Also the fact that there's no climbing at all. It's a big sandwich but Skyrim was better than this. They marketed so hard tho Ive been waiting to get this for days and now I'm like wtf do I try the samurai game or what
I agree. Although I am not a true dark souls fan or player, this is my first dark souls game, the only thing abt this game is I wish it had specific quest lines that lead you in a direction, that’s what I liked abt Skyrim. This game is kind of like a “figure it out” kind of game idk how to explain it. No hate to the game tho I really like the combat and there’s a lot to explore and do.
u guys are just used to the quest line thing, this game gives u choices. Games baby you and give u quests to follow
@@RainGamma yeah that's the least of the bull shit everything else is the main issue. Everything looks like it was copy pasted other than the Bosses. Looks like a bunch of dudes got together smoking weed and put all their brainstorming into the bad guys. The whole mf landscape is copy pasted including the NPCs, all the merchants are pretty much the same dude, interesting that every building in the entire game has one style of building and are all made of the same exact blocks. Dull copy pasted castles and caves complimenting the same copy pasted landscape, each area of the game is literally set up the same, you'll find a swamp, harsh cliffs, a spot for your horse to jump up and when you keep going you'll find a minor erd tree. The laziness is shown in the lack of interactiveness in most everything. Can't interact with what's copy pasted because for you to be able to climb, swim, dig etc you'd have to go in depth. Your character doesn't even have a movement to pick stuff up, it just magically finds it's self into your inventory. You can say what you want but this game was made sloppily and is about as impressive is world of warcraft bro. Honestly worse
you're entitled to your own opinion, game got GOTY for a reason
Skyrim makes this look like Yoshis Island.
This video should be called: "How to destroy your experience as a new player". Content creation is amazing at ruining gaming
It doesn’t ruin experience as a new player and if you think it does then don’t watch it?
