    These videos show just how complex keeping track of all the flights really is in busy airports. I give huge props to all the controllers, runway workers and pilots who do this 24/7 without nary a mistake. Keep that in mind on your next flight. 😉

      Can't second THAT. From what I've noticed it's a set of standards rigorously rubbed in to the extreme. Once that happens it's from then on the building up of 'routine'. I don't think that you can REALLY prepare for disaster, because the machine is more computer programmed than man programmed.......Correct me if I'm wrong!!

      @@gunorijssel7987 No matter how computerized a system is, if there's a human element there's "always" room for error, ALWAYS. It may rarely happen, but it only takes one. 😉

      @@jeffg1524 Of course, the machine can't fly itself. It's not a 'chess computer'. Still, from what I've seen, as far as take off is concerned IT ALL BOILS DOWN to activities between 'push back and take off(ROTATE!). As far as LANDING is concerned IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO 1. end of auto pilot; 2. control landing checklist; and follow orders from the Tower(reduce height to 80, reduce speed). 100: continue, 50, 40, 30, minimum etc. Once you're in the air, things become pretty boring!

    The SAS is the bigger four engine brother of the A330. (A340). The A330 can do well over 10 hours of flying with only two engines and certified for up to 3 hours on a single engine. Depending on the time of year the 0100 Dublin time would be either around 1800-1900 SFO time looks like closer to winter and a twilight departure which can make a good cockpit video. @markg7963 Před 4 lety

      She will be a captain when she gets enough seniority, and not because she is better at anything because she is female. That’s how it works, there isn’t a “captains board” that meets and decides. She was hired because she is capable of being a captain, just like everybody.... female nor skill has anything to do with it.

    • @LAGoodz
      @LAGoodz Před 4 lety

      Mark g Not true outside the US. In Europe, pilot promotions to Captain depend on talent, aptitude, exams and flying hours (usually at least 2-3k hours). It’s not uncommon to have Pilots under 30 years old in Command of a commercial airliner.

    • @markg7963
      @markg7963 Před 4 lety

      Anthony 1976 I stand corrected. That’s interesting.... this profession is gettin weird quick. So once she is a captain selectee, can she then fly anything, or does that then depend on seniority?
      In the US is was not uncommon to wait 15 years or longer to hold that seat. Although depending on specifics recently we have Captains that only have 3 or 4 years of seniority. But NOBODY is hired unless they are CAPABLE of being a captain from a standpoint of merit, license, medical, knowledge, and experience. At a Major Airline anyway.
      Fiona should be ashamed of the fact they are showcasing her not as a talented pilot, but as a female. The focus of this video isn’t on the crew, it’s just on her. That’s I think is demeaning to females in the profession. Clearly she didn’t do anything wrong in the video, it’s just the whole thing stinks of propaganda by the company.... they have lots of videos, and they are always showcasing the females. Shame on them for missing the whole point of a professional crew, and knowing that they would get less “clicks” from filming a couple of guys doing exactly the same thing.
      My opinion only....

      @yes_head Před 4 lety

      The views from the air are cool, but I always assumed flying in and out of SFO was a bit of a pain for aircrews. As the video demonstrates, the two parallel runways can add stress during taxiing. Plus there's been recent near accidents because SFO sometimes closes one of the runways for maintenance and pilots coming in have confused one runway for the other, almost landing on top of departing flights. Considering how much traffic they have to manage it's a relatively small airport so it can get hectic.

    Flex temp 51....that means the engines are producing a thrust setting as if the OUtside temperature is 51 Celsius...that reduces the engine power but still provides plenty of power for a safe and legal climb speed which allows you to clean up the undercarriage. Saves major wear and tear on the engines and keeps them lasting longer...

    • @EinkOLED

      Look at the big brain on Einkoled....lol. Yes Assumed Temperature is another term. Flex and Assumed temp are basically different terminology but the same concept. Kind of like vehicle manufacturers using different terms for same system. Quattro, X-Drive, 4MATIC, etc..... Nice view of the British Airways A380 Landing and taxing by. Super is the new wake turbulence category for the design, weight and spacing for the A380. Heavy is the next category down. Note how her head is on a swivel during taxi especially when crossing active runway. The Captain is steering the aircraft but she is backing up traffic calls and watching for the other aircraft to make sure they keep the spacing.
