Thank for this. What I've been doing is following 2 rules. NO processed sugar and NO processed carbs. In about 3 months I've lost 7 inches off my waste. I only eat 4 things now and in this order. Meat, vegetables, some fruit, and some dairy. I'm not lactose intolerant so a little, cheese, milk, and butter is okay. My meals come in 3 styles. Paleo, keto, and vegetarian. And, only whole real food. No; pasta, cereal, bread, basically anything besides fruit that has sugar. Anything in a can or box is gone. It ALL had to go. It's amazing how this effects you!

I eat squash on occasion and absolutely love it. Every BODY is different. In fact, the winter squashes are absolutely phenomenal for IBS. So for those who struggle with IBS either before or from Keto, the squashes really help to settle the gut due to the soluble fiber. I do delicata and butternut pretty often and an occasional spaghetti squash and have never had an issue. This time of year it’s very comforting and grounding. But also i do not ever test my ketone levels. I go by how I feel these days.

Love spaghetti squash noodles it's a favorite keto meal for me. I've tried microwave cooking but I always get wet soggy strands so my fav is roasting which isn't wet out of the oven.
Roast in oven halved, prick w/knife a few times on rind, cut side up, buttered & salted 425 °for 30 minutes or until you can scrape strands w/fork. Watch it as you don't want to overcook it..will mush & wont be 'noodles'.
Top w/your fav spaghetti meat sauce or pesto.
In food processor make an easy pesto: a few walnuts, salt, pepper, tons of basil, a little parsley & arugala, garlic knob, parmesan and blend away w/ enough olive oil to make it the right texture. Toss your squash strands in some pesto, add cherry tomatoes & more parm.

Just Googled the nutrition facts of butternut squash and it turns out 100g of butternut squash has 12g of carbs and 2g of fiber, which is 10g of net carbs per 100g, way more than what Dr Berg said in the video. I wonder which one is more correct. All the other kinds of squash has around 7-8g of net carbs per 100g. I still wouldn't risk eating squash after watching this video because I don't believe that 100g of squash has only 1g of net carbs. They taste much sweeter than that.

Not all squash are created equal, and therefore not all keto friendly. Acorn squash, for example, has 2.9g net carbs in just one ounce! Butternut squash isn't much better at 2.1g per ounce. Spaghetti squash is a little better at 1.4g of net carbs per ounce. Yellow squash comes in at .6g per ounce, and zucchini has .5g. You'd have to eat really small amounts of these and of course figure them into your macros if you really want to have some of the higher carb ones.

When I look squash up in the USDA nutrient database, the carbs are much higher.
100g baked butternut is 11.7g carbohydrate with only two grams of fiber. That's almost 10 net grams.
100g baked acorn is 14.6g carbohydrate with 4 grams of fiber, that's over 10 net grams.
Where are your figures coming from?
Hubbard squash contains 8.7g carbohydrate and 3.9g fiber, netting 4.2. That could be keto.

Unfortunately I noticed my blood sugars have gone up, my weight loss stalled and I have had to make more trips to the bathroom at night like I used to before starting keto. I'm really glad you mention the effect on the ketosis. I started doing intermittent fasting but I eat a vegan diet so what I found is that, eating low carb foods, exercising and removing sugar completely from my diet, it just really helps me to get into ketosis during the night, and this already brought so many benefits to my life (no more low blood sugar brainfog, reduction in headaches and sharper mind). I heard that having that flexibility to switch from and to ketosis is in itself good, what do you think about this?

I don't like the Keto diet. I prescribe to the low carb diet, but it seems like a lot of the Keto recipes I've come across are high on sodium. I believe it was the American Diabetes Association that suggests Diabetics consume no more than 1500 grams of sodium a day.
I now take recipes from the Keto and cut the salt. I replace it with garlic, oregano, basil, or another spice. I try to use different vegetables and fruits to create the flavor of my dishes instead of the spices.

Ripeness and variety are important. If it tastes sweet then you know it's not too keto friendly...

I think we need a new term: "Keto friendly". I am on OMAD and leaning out great so I don't really worry about that one meal as I have always eaten healthy. I replaced white potatoes with sweets long ago. Try and tell folks (who are unaware) that white potatoes really aren't good for you if you want to start an argument. The masses have been so well brainwashed. Funny as my wife and I just were wondering if our garden squash could be eaten raw. Guess you answered that too Doc. TY as always.

I swear Dr. Berg live in my head. I was groceries shopping 2 days ago and noticed more squash available. I told myself man I am really gonna missed squash on keto diet. Here come Dr. Berg with a video a day later talking about squash. Is Kabocha squash ok on keto? That's my favorite. I want to know before i go get some on sale for 79 cents a pound.

How do you stay under 20 net carbs and eat squash? I literally ate just avocado, kale, peanut butter, and spaghetti squash today for produce and hit 24 grams of net carbs.

Keto meal delivery service?? Does it exist really?? Where on earth do you live?? I can't find anything with the word keto in supermarkets in UK. Recently I found some vegan choices at supermarkets and Starbucks now sells coffee with almond milk but charges for coconut milk!
