“Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill.”- still the greatest movie quote of all time.
is a great line, what really makes me laugh is Whistlers line "Catch you fuckers at a bad time?"
Yes it was
of all time? ehhhh idk bout that chief.
how about "Obviously you don't know who you are fucking with!"
Maharshala Ali better say that line in his MCU movie.
media: "finally Black Panther is the first black superhero film"
Blade: "dafuq you just say?"
" SOME MOTHERFUCKERS
ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO
ICE SKATE UPHILL "
Spawn, blade, Steel (shaq).
Blade and Spawn were definitely the first black movie heroes. But those were mostly white casts with white directors so that's why they didn't get the love Black Panther got. 🤷🏻♂️
@@WormStomperTV aren't the directors for black panther white ?
Spawn: Am I a joke to you?
the first blade had the slow motion bullet before the matrix came out...
this franchise gets no respect lol
#BladeRulez
Serious! It's probably the most slept on and underrated super hero film!
@@seanwjones07 watchmen bro, they get no recognition what so ever
@@petar932 Watchmen's one of the highest selling comic-books of all time lol.
@@bassamsuleman8303 The movie is super underrated though.
So true.
After reading all of the stories about Wesley Snipes behind the scenes on Blade 3, and after actually seeing the movie, I say he was right to be a dick. They were making a lame movie filled with bad decisions and then blowing off all of his suggestions, which as it turns out, were some of the best parts of the first two films. I would have stayed in my trailer too.
He still wanted to be as badass as the other too, and they wanted to commercialize more to try and make it more pop and get some comic booky merchandise out of it. That's my outside observation anyways...
@@MyZ001 That's almost exactly what the comment you're replying to said.
@MyZ001 exactly what happened.
To be fair, he was also kind of a dick to Ryan Reynolds, to the point that Ryan refused to even consider another movie with him
"Some motherfuckers always trying to ice skate uphill" is actually a good one-liner, tbh. The movies definitely have their flaws, but Snipes' and Kris Kristofferson's performances are what really make the films. I always thought the immolation effect was the best vampire death effect, similar to how vampires turned to dust in Buffy.
+SanguisDiabolus
_"Some motherfuckers always trying to ice skate uphill" is actually a good one-liner, tbh._
I'M NOT ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE!
If it sounds cool enough, it doesn't have to make sense. And the only thing cooler than being cool is being ice-cold.
Chris Scharaswak But it DOES make sense! He's basically saying that some people bite off more than they can chew.
Exactly! The Blade films have been some of my all-time favorite movies since childhood.
Actually the same company did the effects for both Blade I and Joss Whedon's first two seasons of Buffy.
You got not idea how happy it makes me when you pointed out how every keeps forgetting that Blade was the first black marvel superhero comic book movie and it was the first marvel trilogy too. I totally forgot that
The media forgets whatever it wants to accomplish The Narrative.(TM) Including forgetting every black accomplishment and progress that gets in their way.
It was just a Marvel property though. The movies weren't made by Marvel like Black Panther.
Its racist to point things out.
Charles Baylor but the media claims it's the first black super hero film.
first last get over yourself. Racism isn't anything to tell make light of or tell jokes about.
Blade & Blade II will forever be classics in my book.
Definitely...
I can say the same thing, I watched those movies countless times and never get tired of them
Agreed.
The same goes for Spider-Man 1 and 2 and X-Men 1 and 2.
For all the crap that was Blade Trinity, there was one good thing that came out of it. It gave the inspiriation to Ryan Reynolds to do Deadpool. I read one time that in preparing to do his role in Blade Trinity he went to the director and said "how do want me to portray this character?" The director handed him a couple of Deadpool comics and said "be like him." He read them and was like "this is the role I was born to play."
That is pretty awesome. I'm not even kidding.
sure it wasn't deathstroke comics??
no deathstroke has a lousy since of humor
Deathstroke is DC my dude
Miko Philo got em!
I don't think they forgot Blade existed. I think they forgot he qualified as a superhero.
Which might be more understandable when you think he was more of an outlier in the colorful-spandex genre.
He was never marketed as a superhero though I didn’t even realize he was supposed to be one
That is because there wasn't a market for superhero movies til blade made one, comic book fans had pretty much given up hope on seeing a decent comic book movie. It set Marvel Studios as a a rising powerhouse in the film industry. He is a hero.
Arron Kleckner ppl were sick of spandex after Batman & Robin 🤢🤮
Elvalley they also forget Spawn.
That "superior melanin level" joke was freaking hilarious.
For me, the original Blade intro with New Order's Confusion remix is still one of the most badasses intros I've ever seen.
In the Top 10 for sure!
Sure that! Can't think of anything better decades later.
"Superior levels of melanin"
Saved it
Joel G. Because he's the daywalker. Hilarious.
I like how it'a a race joke and not at the same time.
67IronwhalE
Even though I’m a brother, I did laugh at that part, but was kind of offended at the same time. It was just the right amount of racism. Like Goldilocks and the 3 bears. Just right. LOL.
Well for the Goldilocks part, i can see it that way but probably no one would bother to think about it.
I think each Blade movie deserved their own Honest Trailer :(
MotaShotta same why're classics
They're *
You Mean Each Vampire Blade Trailer
Damn right
i agree.
I actually like Blade. It doesn’t suck! Well other than blood sucking.
When vampires still sucked blood and not.. well dongs..
EpicVoiceGuy OMG! I know you!!!!!
That's a myth, Vampires don't suck, they scrape, and lick.
EpicVoiceGuy Hi Mr Bailey- Just showing some love from London UK hope you and your Family will have a Fantastic Valentines tomorrow xx
Dude, I don't think anyone's going to argue about the first two being great. Trinity though...
Yea that is why I never understood the Hype of Black Panther. BLADE has been destroying Vampires for years and this is how they treat him? So disrespectful.
One word: marketing
Black panther was ok
Giwrgos Andri THATS THE POINT!
Its a sign of the times that Hollywood is willing to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on not just an all black cast but a very Afro-centric culture that isn't about slavery. There was a time when Black people had to be edited out of posters just to even sell.
To Release is To Resolve he was he saved the world 3 times from world ending situations
the level of DISRESPECT! lol I know Coming to America...omg can they do a Coming to America honest trailer? Had an all black cast didn't it? Well mostly...? I used to watch it all the time as a kid on TBS or one of those channels.
BLADE was an important milestone in the history of comic-book movies. It did its best to be serious and realistic at a time when all the comics movies (BATMAN & ROBIN, SPAWN, THE MASK) were getting really cartoonish. It also had a very contemporary look, instead of being vaguely "retro" like a lot of those earlier movies were. (By the way, I'm still waiting for the Honest Trailers version of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER - I WAS A TEENAGE BLADE.)
Say what you like about Blade. It's still one of the best action franchises and it made vampires believable. Snipes was the real badass hero. And this was years before the Black Panther. Blade Trinity was a fun senseless hack and slash, but still better than the PG regulated stuff they have today.
Jonathan Chua
Well said.
I've always thought it was stupid that movies are made to fit a certain rating. No, most movies don't need to be R-rated. But some do. And when directors scale down the thing that make a character or setting popular to let minors watch it, it often ruins the movie. Marvel doesn't have that many explicit characters and it's current MCU has mostly PG heroes like Cap, Spiderman and Ant-man. But Wolverine should've had a R-rated movie much earlier. And Deadpool, Blade and the Punisher should stay rated R. Just don't make movies R because Deadpool did it, we don't need a R-rated Lion King or something like that.
Blade Trinity wasn't even hack and slash nonsense. Blade 2 was hack and slash nonsense which was very fun.
Blade Trinity was a shameless cash grab that tried to sideline the main character - Blade.
You guys really have to do Howard the Duck. Maybe before Infinity War?
Elizabeth S Yes we need Howard the duck now
seconded
"Meet Wesley Snipes, a badass, never-aging samurai, who in these films goes by the name Blade."
Worst part is that he still looks the same today
It's been almost 20 years!
The movie(s) where Ryan Reynolds debuted his I-demand-to-be-taken-seriously-as-an-actor beard.
Not bad, but not one mention of the intro fight scene in Blade 1? Still one of the coolest fights ever in marvel's movie history.
Still one of the coolest opening fight scenes in any movie ever
C'mon Blade was fun don't lie , you know you loved it :-) LOL
Yep. The first Blade is the pinnacle of badass no nonsense character of the edgy 90s. Meanwhile Marvel trying to bring Cable and the X-Force soon but I bet they going to water down the edginess even when X-Force team members got ridiculous names.
boxertest It was absolute fun and a blast to watch.
KKWX the 3rd sucked by comparison. We all knew it was headed that way.
But to be fair, every comic should be allowed one sucky movie. Cause even comics themselves have filler issues. Or lacking issues. Just a way to get us to the next big thing
KKWX Wesley ismtoo old now, sadly
He could POSSIBLY do the role. But as an ageless vampire, it would show too much age. And CGing his face would just take away from it. Like the last terminator
+Agon Leed Blade was supposed to grow old, he got vampire's powers and immune to vampire's weakness but he is still mortal and grow old
Superior levels of melanin. Best bar ever spit on Honest Trailer
I was looking for this comment! 🤣
I absolutely lost it at the 'What We Do In The Shadows' reference, that movie does not have enough recognition for how brilliant it was
The blade 2 vamps were so cool gulliermo used them as the basis for The Strain stories.
I think credit should be given to the first Blade being before The Matrix and then Matrix copying so much stuff from it. The glasses, the trench coat, the techno martial arts shoot em up scene at the end. I mean, gotta give Blade credit.
True. In a sense, both sagas inspired each other in several ways. Which in this case was not an entirely bad thing.
Hell, they even both share that the third of each one was pretty crappy!
Imagine if Neo walked past Blade in the Matrix
"It's okay that you don't remember Meteor Man but there were 3 of these."
I had to pause so I could stop laughing. Well played Honest Trailers well played.
Which is crazy that he mentioned that. I seen that actor do another superhero too. He do alot of respectable roles that make you feel nostalgic and warm.
A half vampire with superior levels of melanin ROFL IM DEAD
Now this might just be nostalgia in me, but damn Blade was awesome. Oh, and you forgot that they introduced unbreakable sunglasses. No matter what Blade did (heck, a support column got smashed with his face!) those bad boys did not fall off and did no even get scratched!
Must have been Nokia sunglasses.
beware, the might... *nok* you.
Okay i´ll see my way out.
Nokia: Protecting people (from sunlight)
and a trench coat that did not ever get dirty......like the club scene...not a speck of blood on it!
If you necro a comment about vampire stuff, is that even a necro?
Also, they were VAMPIRE sunglasses :D
Blade is awesome it's one of my favourite films.
Too bad there were no sequels.
Why is the "ice skate uphill" line met with shrugs? I heard it all throughout my youth. It means some people try to do the impossible (as in f$&@ with Blade and win).
I had never heard this phrase. Maybe it was regional? And that's why some others hadn't ever heard it either, while a few commenters like you are familiar.
because with a movie about vampires after a huge battle it was reaaaaallly out of place
Ice skating uphill isn’t impossible though, just difficult?
Wise King I'm pretty sure it means what you just said; Some people try to do the incredibly impossible. In the first movie, the vampires tried to do all kinds of things to kill Blade, culminating in them conjuring the blood god of the vampires and even that wasn't enough.
It means dum dum do things the hard way
You know why no one remembers that Blade was played by a black man?
Because he was such a badass, there was no reason to bring up his skin color.
So true.
It was just badass. No need to slap the "blackness" all over our faces or preach about it.
Lol I've never forgotten blade was played by Wesley Snipes
This how you end discrimination
The truth has been spoken
Well.... It wasn't really used as some big PR push and agenda then either.
It's especially interesting because when Snipes originally approached Marvel it was to make a Black Panther movie. However Stan Lee introduced Snipes to Blade and well honestly Snipes was a far better fit for Blade than he would have been for Black Panther. Snipes is a little too one linery (I know it's not a real word) to be Black Panther.
Don't tell that to Noxeema Jackson.
One-dimensioanl? Are you kidding? Did you not see New Jack City or White Men Can't Jump? Just cause the Blade character is 1 dimensional doesn't mean Snipes' acting is.
To be honest, a Black Panther movie would have been terrible back then when superhero films had neither the budget nor the technological advancement needed to make them look as good as they should. Blade works well for it's time because he's primarily a street level hero who doesn't need a lot high-tech looking equipment, a fact that also helps him blend better with the crowd.
quippy
"Motherfuckers keep trying to ice skate uphill..." is still the best one liner ever though.
One thing I like about Blade is that he was an equal opportunist. He would wreck both men and women. Anyone, regardless of gender, can get it if they stepped to him. More heroes/protagonists should take notes from him. He was for equal rights and equal lefts. LOL!
FFS, that's not what equality is actually about, nor is this a correct meaning of the opportunism🙄
Equal rights and lefts is gold internet person
"Vampire Bible"...sounds like the name of an anime. 🧛♂️
Imagine that though.. a vampire bible I wonder what you would learn or not be able to comprehend because it’s a VAMPIRE bible 😱😮
It sounds like a really lame Emo Band from 2009.
Don't forget.... IT ALSO USED "BULLET-TIME" BEFORE THE MATRIX DID!
Before Deadpool and Logan, there was Blade.
Nope
Spawn
Ann Lee spawn was rated pg13
Gabriel Crosley thank You!
Doesn’t matter,
He predated Blade. R-Rated or not
true but i think op was referring to R-Rated Marvel films that were really good. Deadpool made a lot of buzz for having an R-rating, Logan as well but op is right, the Blade movies were all rated R. Spawn should've had an R rating though.
Your title at the end really makes me want to see an honest trailer for What we do in the Shadows.
I don't get how 2 can be observed as better than 1. Anyone?
It would be fun.... but I also love that movie too much...
It’s becoming a TV series and I’m so happy

"Some motherfuckers are always trying to iceskate uphill."
In all seriousness, what does that actually mean?
BattleUp Saber I suppose its supposed to be the same as peeing against the wind? Basically trying to fight the natural irder of things. In thia case vampyres trying to kill blade or enslave himanity when in blades mind the vampires destiny is to be destroyed.
BattleUp Saber Going about it the hard way basically.
BattleUp Saber life's an up hill battle so don't go at it the wrong way I guess lol
I guess he means some people are trying to do things that know they cannot accomplish. Cause noone can iceskate uphill.
It's Snipes. It needs no explanation.
This was my favorite vampire movie back then ...still is😊
The Movie that Kick-started the MARVEL movie franchises! ❤️

@@biglliam OK... Catwoman didn't help... 😉👍🏽

Just like how some people thought Wonder Woman was the first ever female lead superhero film. Do they not know Anything! Lol.
supergirl says hi
Mainly black cast superhero film is what they mean. BP is about specifically black characters story. Blade is not. His story was more about him being a vampire hero.
God I love these movies. Nothing you guys say can change that lol
Charles Baylor Blade 2 defined badass. And guess what? Luke Goss played a prince in yet another Del Toro flick.

The Blade Franchise (movies and TV shows) was what got me into Marvel in the first place and I already loved Wesley Snipes so it was awesome seeing him as a badass vampire and slayer.
Love the first 2. 3 is kinda meh.
Blade 1 & 2 are awesome. Blade trinity is hard to watch.. awful film, up there with Exorcist 2.
While watching Blade Trinity I kept thinking "Man, Ryan Reynolds should play Deadpool, he'd be perfect !"
Then he was announced for Wolverine Origins and boy what a rollercoaster of emotions that was.
Now, 2 Deadpool movies later, I can rest at ease.
I liked these. My uncle has some set and screen memorabilia too.
And you're spot on at pointing out Blade on-screen preceeds Black Panther by a Lifetime, the lifetime of Millennials and Gen Z and these immature Studio Executives and Influencers. Blade is a worthy hero, it's sad that accountants got Snipes into trouble.
This trailer isn't just honest, it's Vampire Honest...

Great content as always!
SN: Though the media labeled it as the first iconic black superhero film, Black Panther is the first film about an AFRICAN superhero, not African-American. And the film explored an African civilization free of Western influence.
"Black" was a poor word choice by the media imo because the African diaspora is worldwide, and in the U.S. saying black is synonymous with "African-American" but is not the same as saying Egyptian-American, Nigerian-American, Ethiopian-American, etc., which in essence are all African-American.

It's most likely gonna be a CGI trash with minimal character development like in every Marvel movie nowadays
@@bartoltolic movieweb.com/deadpool-3-pg-13-rating-possibilities/ so disney blade is not going to be rated R
Random Guy probablyyy. But I’m gonna try and have faith that it won’t actually be trash
Now that Marvel/Disney has the Blade movie rights back, and Disney has bought Fox, and Fox owns Deadpool movie rights, we could have a Blade/Deadpool movie. But first I hope they reboot the movie with the original origins of Blade - where he's actually born in Soho, London, in 1922. Why? Because then he would've been a teen during WWII. In Marvel Comics it's established that Hitler had vampires working for him. So Captain America and the Howling Commandos fought Nazi vampires. Therefore we could have flashback scenes where a teenage Blade fights Nazi vampires alongside Captain America and the Howling Commandos.
John Casey This isn't an Adam Sandler movie!
My thoughts are It's starts off in the 70's, blacksploitation style with his original look. The root of the problem starts here and then fast forward 40 years (with his current look) when the story resolves.
id read that
id watch that
I have never thought that I would ever say this but... I am tired of Nazi vampires, it has been done too much already
The fact that people are saying black panther is the first hero movie with an African American hero is an insult to this franchise
An insult to our intelligence, period.
Say "if idiots could fly this place would be an airport"
Funny thing is that the "unknown" directed the best Blade movie imo.
The first one!
I loved the Blade Trilogy! Even the third one (I know it was bad but I still had a great time).

SINGHDASLAYA me too
SINGHDASLAYA _ ummm no on the third Blade...but I can respect that you enjoyed it...lol.. yes, 1 is a classic, 2 was different but one of my favorite...
Without Blade 3 we never would have gotten Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, so no matter what you say about it you'll never convince me its a bad movie just for that fact alone
Tim Slack ryan Reynolds is the only reason i like trinity and will watch it
I hated Ryan Reynolds until Deadpool
Biel killing stuff....mmmm
It's just Spiderman 3 bad. Like, not as good as the previous ones, but not near as bad as people makes it up to be.
"What he slew in the shadows" is amazing because it suggests there's a genre of intense action takeoffs of comedy series instead of the exact opposite.
Marvel: So we’ve announced a new Blade movie, who’s gonna play the main?
Director: Samuel L. Jackson.
Marvel: He’s already Nick Fury.
Director: Anthony Mackie then.
Marvel: Are you serious?
Director: Chadwick Boseman?
Marvel: COME ON!!!!
Bring Back Wesley Snipes as Blade TO THE MCU!
Is he out of jail yet?
Good luck with that since he is in prison...
and he is kinda old
He’s in jail, & when it comes to their recasts, Marvel Studios & Marvel TV gets actors that end up being better than the previous actor who played the character.
Examples:
Don Cheadle (War Machine)
Mark Ruffalo (Hulk)
Tom Holland (Spider-Man)
Charlie Cox (Daredevil)
Jon Bernthal (Punisher)
Gabriel Luna (Ghost Rider)
He finished his sentence back in 2013, hence why he was in Expendables 3 (I'll let you decide if that was an improvement).
Speaking of forgotten franchises, do Highlander!!!!
Yes, please do the Highlander!

IKR it's like saying White Man Can't Slay and forgetting Crocodile Dundee
I heard it all throughout my childhood. Teachers and all kinds of adults would say it. It means stop trying because that thing you're doing is impossible (think you're badder than God, etc).
I heard that line improvised by Snipes and the director decided to keep it. It’s also confirmed that Snipes was high in a lot of scenes in Blade 3.
Who’s here after Deadpool 3?
I am. I’m just glad Blade was able to bring back the greatest line of dialogue in cinema history.

There's no such thing.
Blade movies are two, exactly like the Matrix movie is just one.
Just like there's only two Alien and Terminator movies.
Just like the two trilogies of star wars. The original trilogy and the prequel trilogy. Then we have the spinoffs like solo and rogue one.
The Blade was a hero of movies to me. I think it showed people how to do it right, including taking the character seriously.
I love the first two Blade movies, especially the first one!

Say: "Some motherfuckers always trying to ice skate uphill."
Wait so there was a Black Super Hero movie BEFORE Black Panther? So Im not just imagining Blade, Steel, Blankman, Meteor Man, Hancock, Static Shock, Cyborg and Im sure others?
Tim Slack there was no cyborg nor static shock movie. Blankman was more of a comedy but Hancock was pretty good. The first two blade films are in my top favorites though! I think what people mean with uplifting black panther is that it is the first marvel movie with a majority black cast with a serious budget behind it and proper marketing. It's also not being sold as just a black film but a superhero movie that just so happens to tell the story of a fictional technologically advanced culture. Blade will always be important to me but I totally get the impact black panther will have on generations to come who don't even know who blade is and may never know him, but they will know black panther.
Do we really count Hancock? Also, I didn't know Static Shock and Cyborg got movies. When did that happen?

Wait a second.... Wtf is your question?? Are you saying Blade was Not the first black superhero to have a *Franchise*?
Tim Slack Don’t forget Shaft and SupaFly.
“Practice an ancient one at a time fighting style” ...yep I’ve died from laughter with that one 😂
Holy shit....whenever Mick Rory (Heat Wave) was introduced into the Arroowverse I'd get this odd feeling every now and then like I had seen him before, but never bothered to look it up. He was god damn Dracula in the 3rd Blade movie!
