You have the power to heal your gut with the best diet for gut health and weight loss. With just 7 steps, you can achieve gut health and mental health, feel great each day, and be your best self!
7 Steps to Heal Your Gut
    1. Fasting
Since Ancient Biblical times, people have fasted. Fasting for gut health is very important as it resets your body and allows it to heal naturally.
There are different kinds of fasting such as the intermittent fasting, in which you fast for a few hours. A 12- to 14-hour fast period can be beneficial to your health. Also, you should avoid snacking at bedtime and loading up on sugar when you wake up.
    2. Removing Inflammatory Foods
A good diet for gut health and weight loss includes grain, wheat, milk, soy, corn, among a few others. Get rid of these foods that cause inflammation. You can make your own wheat, however, which is healthier than store-bought ones. My favorite options include amaranth, spelt, and camut.
    3. Sleeping
Get ample sleep each night. When you get better sleep, it helps balance your hormones and heal your gut.
    4. Staying active
Your body is designed to move. You need to incorporate exercise in your daily routine. It does not need to be strenuous - just lead an active lifestyle and exercise (i.e. brisk walking, stretching, etc).
    5. Eat gut-healing foods
What foods heal your gut? Yes, you can heal your gut with food! Some foods to include in your diet for gut health and weight loss include bone broth and glutamine, which are beneficial to your gut. Speaking of bone broth, did you know that you can make your own? In fact, making your own bone broth is a better option for controlling the quality of ingredients your body is getting.
    6. Probiotics
Probiotics include beneficial bacteria that heal your gut. You can get probiotics from fermented food such as yogurt, pickles, kefir, kombucha, etc.
    7. Prebiotics
Prebiotics are your fiber and short-chain fatty acids. Great sources of prebiotics are artichokes, onions, asparagus, garlic, and dandelion greens, among a few others.
By applying these simple changes in your diet for gut health and weight loss, a wholesome lifestyle, and routine, you can heal your gut naturally. Let me know in the comments which among these 7 steps to heal your gut you have been doing. Share your experience after doing any of these steps, and I would love to hear from you. Catch you in the next one!

I made a stir fry using a skillet with extra virgin olive oil, 1/2 onion chopped, 2 cloves of garlic minced and a a little fresh ginger. To that I added some bok Choi, green peas, 3/4 of a grated carrot and some lightly boiled frozen broccoli. I added refrigerated rice from last night with 1 Tbsp of organic low sodium tamari (wheat free) and 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce.

After gall bladder surgery at 27 yrs old, I began to experience breathing issues while sleeping. After years of research, I learned that, after open abdominal surgery, many patients will suffer with breathing issues. I am 76 now, and I am learning more about the vagus nerve, which I thought was the reason for my issues. I have developed apnea within the last several years, and treatment is going well, but still awaken with a racing heart at times. I try to journal, or at least try to figure what I ate, how late I ate, etc. Now, I am still using a more keto style of eating. I am active...sometimes TOO active...especially when in my wonderful plants, and shrubs, etc. I enjoyed hearing this subject matter, and will keep subscribed. RE: bone broth, I have been making soup with bones for years, and my skin, and hair show it.

Thanks for this topic Annette and Matt. I typically don't eat past 7:30, 8 o'clock. Some days I wake up in the morning and I'm not hungry so I go outside and garden and then eat around 11,12 , or 1 o'clock would that be considered fasting? Some days I'm really hungry. Someday I'm not. I am semi retired from cleaning business. So I don't have the output anymore .

The "pickle" for me is that Im one of those people who has a hard time keeping my weight up...so daily calorie-wise I need to be as close to average as possible (if not higher), so if I have a "short window" then I have to stuff my face!
A very short window might not allow 3 meals, so If I do 2, each meal would need to be at least 1000 calories in one seating, and then I wont be hungry when its time to eat another 1000!
Is that really "beneficial" for my body? Versus spreading throughout the day? Which one will "absorb" better?
    Just "things to ponder"...lol!

Look into deliverance ministry for addiction. This doesn't sound like a mind over matter thing if it's got that kind of hold on you. Could also be diabetic or hypoglycemic. A spoon of nut butter before bed will help stabilize blood sugar . Fasting will help when you get to that point and you will no longer need the bedtime snack.
