    -----------
In this interview with Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, we discuss how to heal your gut and the importance of fiber for the body’s overall health. You see, although we all have trillions of microbes in our body, our modern lifestyle has been incredibly destructive to them. Knowing how to heal yourself can not only restore digestion, it can also have a number of positive effects throughout the body.
If you have any digestive symptoms, it’s a clear sign that you have damage to your gut. On the other hand, things that may not automatically be connected to gut health can also indicate damage. Brain fog, fatigue, and eczema are all examples of symptoms that arise from a damaged gut.
There are many different ways that people develop a damaged gut, including difficult emotions, antibiotics, and other harmful chemicals. Learning how to heal your gut means embracing the importance of fiber.
The reason why fiber is so special is because it arrives in your colon untouched and is delivered to your microbes there. Your microbes consume the fiber and they convert it into short chain fatty acids, which help to do things like reverse leaky gut, enhance healthy microbes, and suppress the harmful ones.
Unfortunately, we don’t eat nearly enough fiber on a daily basis. We also don’t eat nearly enough of a diversity of plants. Each plant has a different kind of fiber, which each type of microbe relies upon to sustain it.
The importance of fiber is that it fuels the kingdom of microbes that we depend upon for our health. In order to learn how to heal your gut, you need to take care of your microbes. The best way to do that is through a diet that is full of plants and full of fiber.

@@sonyacurti When you break down what a man-made apple really looks like, it's hardly any better.
There are numerous problems with fruit for humans, though.
One is that they do indeed hit satiety markers quicker than processed sugars so it's harder to blow up your A1c, largely due to the fibre, but you don't want to hit satiety before your nutritional markers are met first, and fruits are sorely lacking in almost everything a human needs to perform because we lack the ability to break down the absolute majority of the fibre into fats and make fat soluble vitamins.
The time spent eating an apple could be better spent eating beef jerky much more often if you really need a snack. The idea an apple has high nutritional value is honestly delusional. Not totally against the consumption of fruits, but the whole 5 or more servings thing is laughable. If we're spending so much time trying to hit supposed "healthy" fibre markers and wasting space in our diet we could very easily wind up deficient in numerous areas.
Once you realise the real nutritional value of fibre is all but locked out for the human colon, it all starts to make sense.

I started to go mostly vegetarian in early March. Then I explored some of the vegan replacements for the traditional western diet like a vegan cheese & vegan meat alternatives along with some of the processed and frozen vegan entrees. I was still eating meat when I went out with family because there are few vegan friendly restaurants in my area.
In the last week I have moved more towards an SOS Free Whole Foods Plant Based Diet and for the most part at every step of the way I have felt better. I added some key vitamin supplements like B12, K2, and Vitamin D to my diet as well as an algae based DHA & EPA Omega 3 supplement.
Early on I found a vegan ranch dressing to add to a salad that usually have vegan cheese and vegan chicken strip alternatives.
Then I saw a tub of guacamole in the produce section and I added it along with some salsa to my beans and rice dinner that has been my main staple.
After that I thought how much I enjoyed a good Taco Salad, so I added the guacamole and salsa to my vegan chicken strip salad instead of ranch. It was a massive improvement.
Then I ditched the vegan chicken strips & added some diced peaches that come from a plastic cup along with just salsa.
The calorie count on the salad was down by better than 50% and I was still getting an exceptionally filling salad that tasted great. The fat content of the typical lunch was down too.
In the last few days I added almond milk and coconut milk yogurts with active cultures to the mix.
My digestion had been great improved early on, but the increased fiber coupled with the more than 30 different plant foods that go into my body each week have vastly improved my gut biome I am certain. The active cultures in my vegan yogurt has likewise added to the improvement.
I have never been this regular in my life. I always had sizeable stools, but never have they been as large as they are now nor as easy to release with the consistency of an over ripe banana. Gas from the early days of bean eating has mostly reversed, but occasionally I still get gasy. The only problem with gas now is I can't tell if it is going to only be gas, so I am very careful about making it to the toilet even when I think it will just be gas.
I have also never felt so full for so long. I did a Keto diet for two years and it is a very satisfying diet in terms of filling you up, but nothing like this high in fiber diet.
On most days I am getting 75 grams or more of fiber in my diet. This is a huge change for someone who was eating less than 20 grams of carbs a day.
In the last few days I cut out stevia and aspartame from my diet by drinking my iced tea black and replacing my daily cola fix with a glass of chocolate almond milk that satisfies my sweet tooth with better nutritional value and less calories than replacing a diet soda with a sugary soda would add to my diet.
This too, I think has lead to an improvement in my microbiome.
Over the past two months, ai have seen 40 lbs melt away. I have also seen my blood pressure drop by 40 points into the normal range and while I don't know what they were before the diet, I know that 5 weeks into my dietary change my A1C was normal as was my fasted blood glucose. It could stand to improve and I did not do a Homa-IR test, so I have no idea about insulin resistance, but my cholesterol levels were in the acceptable range. They could be better. My HDL could be a bit higher. My LDL could be a bit lower along with the triglycerides, but overall, my numbers were good especially for someone with a BMI over 40 over age 40.
I believe this diet will improve my cholesterol as much if not more than it improved my blood pressure. Coupled with intermittent and water fasting, I believe this diet will allow me to reset any insulin resistance and lose the weight I never could before.
My only question is how did we not all eat 70 grams of fiber a day as kids.

    • @infini_ryu9461
      @infini_ryu9461 Před 2 lety

"how did we not all eat 70 grams of fiber a day as kids" because humans never have, or if they were they were starving, that's why it's largely useless for us. If we could find a use for it our colons would show it and wouldn't have gotten dwarfed by the small intestine in human evolution.
Yes, technically, you could maybe carve at your weight by filling yourself up with fibre, but it's unreliable nor a long-term solution and all you're doing is wasting space for the real heavy hitters nutritionally for humans--Meat and Associated fats.
Eating less or nutritionally devoid fibres may help you lose weight temporarily or become a huge problem long-term as you need to do it long-term or else you go back to square one. Your nutritionally devoid foods *will* catch up to you.
Eat 1 or 2 huge meals until satiety of meat and fat then let your hormones do the rest. Humans are meant to be lean animals, and simply eating less is not a healthy solution to weight gain issues.

The medical industrial complex's failure to properly research and diagnose and treat microbiome and sleep and vital nutritional deficiency issues (including those related to Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 and Magnesium deficiencies as well as iatrogenic prescription medication usage) is a major reason why psychiatric iatrogenesis is a primary contributor to the third leading cause of death in the U.S. (which is iatrogenesis in general). If the U.S. spent just a fraction of the over $40 billion each year it spends just on iatrogenic psychiatric drugs alone, for properly researching the issues discussed in this and related CZcams presentations we would probably, Lord willing, achieve an absolute revolution in medical efficacy improvement and iatrogenesis reduction.

@@OldManDave1960 Then moral's aside. Some people can go on animals based diet in the short term for the health benefits and change back to plant diet longer term. Whats wrong with that? As stated in OP, a certain % of people report improved health with animal protein.

Frozen veggies at the dollar tree. Vitamins and minerals are preserved in frozen veg. Sometimes I also find good quality nut mix. It’s a great way to add healthy fats and diversity to your diet.

How do dogs, cats, birds, and other pets effect our microbiome? I shiver when I see some adults put a "puppy" in a crib with baby which is still in diapers and can not even walk yet. That loving puppy permanently destroys the personality of that baby when baby becomes adult. Defenseless baby get molested with filthy beast that mounts the baby brings plethora of bioburden, with excrement in their paws, resulting in cervical cancers for most female babies. Now 60 000 000 abortive women live with 100 000 000 dogs in USA alone. Any thoughts about this catastrophe?

@@OldManDave1960 Oh really? I did everything I could for ten years. I am a nutritional therapist. I did all the gut testing, tweaking, you name it. I'm now battling SIBO, leaky gut, fibromyalgia, insulin resistance, oxalate and histamine issues and much more bcs of ten plus years of plantbased eating. I never ate processed foods, I was always on whole foods. It's not a diet that is suitable for most people in the long run. That's just facts. The evidence of that is overwhelming. We aren't equipped to live on plants alone. Especially since most produce is man made, not much of this has even existed during our evolution. It's insanely unnatural to live on grains, legumes and man made vegetables and fruits. I still love fruits and some veggies but my gut can hardly tolerate any now after trashing my gut on a plantbased diet.

Wow! I’ve never heard of anyone saying they trashed their gut eating plant-based (though I know people with pre-existing issues can’t always eat plant-based). I know we’re all different though. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot, and I hope you’re doing better. 🙏🏻

@@PeaceIsYeshua I have come across hundreds, if not thousands of stories like mine both by watching and listening to ex vegan stories here on CZcams and on podcasts. Also in several Facebook health related groups. Thank you for your kind words, it's a struggle for real. It is better but I have a long way to go. Can't process any kind of carbs or fiber anymore and have to starve out the SIBO. Maybe after that I can manage to have small amounts of plant foods again but right now it's impossible. Thanks again for your compassion, this was something I didn't choose and has been an enormous ordeal both physically, mentally and emotionally. Best regards!🌺🌞

Have you looked into ozone therapy? And P73 oregano oil-just a couple things that to come to mind. It’s not always easy knowing what to do, but ozone is one of the best things out there. Hemp oil ozonated suppositories are one of the easiest and most economical ways to use ozone (hemp oil holds more ozone than the other oils).
I hope something works for you soon. 🙏🏻

People are talking about healing their gut with plants yet all dietary issues in the gut stem from consumption of plants with the exception of lactose intolerance. The amount of issues vegans have with their gut should be a red flag. Fibre does less than we think or nothing at all.

For anyone struggling with diverticulitis, I highly recommend the journal / logbook on Amazon called "How Not to Diverticulitis" ... It has helped me keep my symptoms down, and nip flareups in the bud before they become an issue ... Has daily symptom tracker, food tracker, journal space, and lots of excellent insights on how to stay symptom free.
