    We need more doctors like him! Doctors don’t talk about diet (especially older ones), they give patients pills, that’s all they do. 🤷🏼‍♀️ They don’t teach patients about diet and exercise or mind healing like going on walks outside and listening to nature, etc… For me, that’s a stress reliever walking in the evening listening to birds, watching the sunset, and listening to a book or podcast. Who needs antidepressants if you do that every day? Plus, I do boot camp in the mornings. Health is all encompassing like you said.

    The first podcast episode with Dr. B shook me to me core. I literally cried. It was my wake up moment. I've followed Ellen for years and I've always wanted to go vegan but the first episode was my moment of clarity. I literally began eating plant based that night and will never go back. 🌿

    "This is the whole human" - I wish that every time we went to see a GP that they thought this way. It's so sad and utterly frustrating to be the 'patient' with so much knowledge around diet, lifestyle and holistic health and for doctors to want to take the medication approach. In 30+ years of various bowel and gut symptoms, no doctor has ever asked me about my diet in any depth (most just judge me because I'm plant based and suggest I'd be better eating meat! 🤦‍♀), none have ever asked about how I'm actually feeling and what's going on in my life and most still have absolutely no concept of gut health. (I told a GP about leaky gut in the late 90s and he simply said 'it doesn't exist'!) Thank you Ellen for inviting Dr Will onto your show and thank you Dr Will for sharing so much valuable information that will help many people. Here's hoping that the next generation of GPs are considerably more holistic in their approach.

    • @taramacfarlane7744

    • @fireflyhaze4938
      @fireflyhaze4938 Před 2 lety +1

      Just to add to what Tara said, a food intolerance might manifest as diarrhoea, whereas a food allergy might manifest as a rash/swelling to anaphylactic shock depending on the severity of the allergy. A food intolerance may make you feel crap temporarily after consuming the food in question, but a food allergy might kill you.

    How do you get over the fear of food? Since everything I eat bothers me, I either skip eating or am fearful when I do eat cause I know Ill get bloated, feel sick and end up in the bathroom. I know its a self fulfilling prophecy but how do you change that way of thinking when all foods bother me. Ive always said I would be happy if I didn’t have to eat anything, it would be so much easier. I know its a deranged way of thinking but, just it was it is for now.

  • @Rose_Ou

    11:07 great question Ellen. I am a perfect example of what an elimination diet can do to a person. I used to be a hard core carnivore/keto enthusiast. I hate meat, but after reading "Cancer as a Metabolic Disease" by Dr. Thomas Seyfried, listening to Dr. Bret Scher and his guests as well as all doctors presenting lectures on Low Carb Down Under I was sold and forced myself into low carbohydrate diets for approx. 6 years. What these diets did to me is as follows: SEVERE dysbiosis, methane SIBO (which makes my life living hell), EXTREME constipation and much slower transit associated with this type of SIBO, gradually increasing when on low carb severe migraines accompanied by vomiting and usually requiring medical intervention, pain in the abdominal region after eating "the wrong thing (aka carbohydrate)" stronger than the pain I experienced during my traumatic, long and complicated birth. I'm slowly transitioning towards plant based living with the hope to become fully plant based and with renewed microbiome in the future. Dear people having doubt and an on and off "romantic" relationship with low carb meat based lifestyle: I assure you, it's a trap, even though you feel great at first. You will notice within a few years that your morning blood glucose is gradually higher and higher. You will also notice that your TSH levels are growing alarmingly. Don't do it to yourself, it's a message to women in particular. I know there are anecdotes and many swearing by meat and its "healing properties" but think about it, you don't really know these people, you don't know what's going to happen to them, they have no science to back them up, they're doing the exact opposite to what science has proven many a time. But even if there are 2 or 3 long term carnivore women active on the internet and truly thriving; I'm 100% certain they are just an exception to the rule, just like people smoking and drinking.

    So i was tested for fructose and was told I malabsorbe fructose. So I stay away from it. But everything I eat seems to bother me, this has been going on for 10 years, I honestly have no idea what to eat and what not to eat. Trying to do an elimination and reintroduce foods, if it takes 2 weeks, then do I eat chicken only for 2 weeks and then every 2 weeks after eat 1 other item in specific quantities each day until I get sick, then I know how much I can tolerate? This would take years to figure out what I can eat. Plus I was told it could take up to 3 days for a food to react in my body. So I have no idea what to do or eat at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    This has got to be the biggest load of crap going, Firstly Eskimos only eat animal based products. Secondly it has been proven that plant based diets reduce sperm count and health, speed up menopause in women and contribute to poor health. Also Countries with the highest life expectancy eat a high content of meat. Before we could fly veg and fruit across the world how did we have access to 100 different plants? This is a modern way of eating. There are lots of people who cut out gluten and heal their thyroid me included. Dr Zsopia Clemens as clinical evidence that a meat based diet heals the gut. Can you tell me how you measure a sealed gut when only eating plants? Do you use the PEG400 test as that is efficacious and a great way to measure a leaky gut. Also we still do not know what the gut microbiome actually means and there is no long term research on any diet carnivore included. Its almost impossible to do these studies too many variables. He also does not talk about how exercise, sleep and being out doors heals supports gut health. When he talked about that women changing jobs and her stomach healed I literally choked on my food. This was really bad and really disingenuous.
