    • SHE WENT WILD | Bikini...
    Our 100th episode of Jake and Nicole Living Off Grid. We were going to edit together a mash up video compilation of the past year living off the grid in a yurt in the rain forest wilderness of Western Canada. But, we felt that you all wanted to see new footage to we put together this super vlog of new footage from the past week here at Komorebi. In this episode Jake and Nicole cook with fire using the wok stove, get our bikini's and swim suits on and find secret private beaches in the middle of nowhere using our Stryker Boat, chop and gather a year supply of firewood, and attempt to finish our new small bathroom featuring composting toilet! Enjoy and please leave a nice question or comment below!

    A piece of advice, Im from the Philippines and I am used to jungle life and of course mosquitoes. What we do is to smoke around the area. Do not create a big fire just a smoke. For example if you are working on your bathroom make some little smoke around it first before working on your bathroom. At least it will help deter and reduce the number of mosquitoes around.

      That's crazy to me. I grew up in a rural setting and have always had multiple dogs roaming around our property since I can remember. They were my best good buddies....led me on adventures through the woods, taught me to see and hear things I otherwise would've never noticed, and gave me unconditional affection. Reading your comment, though, makes me realize how I take them for granted. I realize that, for a number of reasons, many people have just never known that companionship. Glad you got yourself a dog buddy!!!

And ppl who stop watching just because sometimes we can see nipples are just sensitive ppl. 🤷‍♀️ Nicole isn’t just beautiful on the outside but she has a rare soul she tries her best at everything. And tries to look for anything positive In her surroundings. Smelling flowers, picking and eating straight from the garden making the most of everything around her tea, dies, medicine. I won’t stop watching. I’ve been a fan since Jake was here in Tempe, Az.

It is one of the safest and most tested treatments for mosquitos and has probably saved so many lives from mosquito born diseases. I grew in south Louisiana and working in the swamps, this was a necessity and you couldn't sweat it off very easily.
    If you truly feel you have a problem, you might consider opening your mind to technology such as this that can benefit you. I really do understand the hesitation to use more powerful chemicals to address the mosquito issue and also agree some of those chemicals probably aren’t the greatest for humans and animals but please also recognize that all over the world mosquitoes carry deadly diseases they pass on from both other humans and animals. So do consider the trade offs and most would not challenge or blame you if you chose to use something more powerful than essential oils. I don’t think I could deal with them myself without using some more powerful deterrents, as beautiful as that place is. Diseases from mosquitoes and ticks are no joke and can result in a lifetime of pain and suffering, even death. As much as we feel we are invincible, when young, we really aren’t. I enjoy your videos and love seeing all your projects get done!

    • @SteifWood
      @SteifWood Před 4 lety +1

      So fare disease carrying mosquitoes has only been found in Lower Mainland around Vancouver (Aedes japonicus mosquitoes and La Crosse encephalitis/West Nile virus *imported from the US*), so I think that kills ur argument. On the other hand, if ppl chose to settle in an area with serious mosquito blooms like these two guys, well then they must face the consequences and shut up.
      FYI, from time to time I work in North Norway, and this summer - due to optimal weather conditions - we had a serious outbreak of mosquitoes. It was so bad it even killed semi-wild reindeer. That said, I would never ever consider to permanently settle in an area like that. Those who do, and have done for thousands of years, really dont care and carry on with their lives.

    Jake, as I have been one of the people telling you to get some chain saw pants, and a face shield (which I do see you using), I agree with you on the body movement with a chain saw... and made the same excuse for YEARS! When did I go to chain saw pants... well when I had my first chain break was a big one (I did not get hurt), but also when 2 loggers, who are working saws for 12 hours a day 5 days a week, would not work with me until I got a pair! They use them every time they do any chainsaw work - one of these guys owns a saw mill, and has been logging now for over 50 years. Do you loose movement with chaps, yes... but it is so minimum that you don't really notice it at all - especially once you start moving around with them on.
    So with the close proximity that you are working with the mill, moving around logs on unstable ground with the saw, and saw failures (which I agree are NOT common, but do happen) I hope you will get a pair and wear them!

    The thing about wearing chaps when you're chainsawing is that the kevlar/nylon fibers they're made of will jam a chainsaw and keep it from doing serious damage to your legs. Of course, I'm sure you know that already, but it is something to think about. The other thing that cannot be stressed enough is to set yourself up for success by thinking about your task at hand prior to starting. Victory favors the prepared. Anyways, your skill with that chainsaw is amazing. When I watched you trim that siding with it, I was truly impressed. Good show, you two.

When dad died suddenly we had all that wood, and you could really tell the difference as the wood was used our toasty warm home was freezing, might be good for under yurt just thought of it,,

      The worst place u could possibly store your firewood is under your house. Have a fire you lose your home and all your fuel to survive in back up cabin. Should allways be a safe distance from house. Pkus great way to encourage a monsterous termite or ant colony. NOT SMART. Every Alaskan in the bush knows this simple reallity. We have emergency Cash-back up cabins ready to run to fully stocked with a preloaded wood burning heater and all nessesities. Plus the fuel to keep u alive at 30 below if you lose your house. DUH

    As a professional Automotive technician I'm going to disagree with you when you say most accidents with power tools happen when you're intoxicated or tired. If you use a hammer long enough eventually you will hit your hand with said Hammer. I don't drink or do drugs on the job and every time I've injured myself or have been injured was an accident. That's why we have safety equipment because we go in expecting to get injured. IE if your cutting down a tree put on a helmet cuz that broken limb 200 feet above breaks off and hits you in the head, game over bro if you don't have a helmet on.

      Chainsaw chaps leave plenty of movement and when that saw kicks, you are not fast enough. You are not standing flat footed on dry ground with a log supported in a cradle while cutting. A hour boat ride, + however long it takes your partner to get you to the boat will put a damper in your building plans. Big box stores for under a hundred bucks.
