I was recording my songs on a Panasonic RX-CS700 when I was like 6-7 years old. I've been doing this practically my entire life.
This entire video is so useful not only for our music careers but just in life in general. Thank you, Uncle Barry, for your wisdom and your kind words. Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re doing it right. Can’t wait for the furniture!
My goodness. Everyone needs to listen to this video. I like the message. I believe in this. Every single word.
Barry, I always love your videos. You're knowledgeable, informative, skilled, and interesting. I am very much like you. Been around a while in terms of age and have been in this space since my early teens. I thoroughly enjoy your channel. Thanks for the great work and content.
Curious obsession is my thing. Pure childish brute force is my magic. Steady pressure over the course of time moves mountains. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion… ❤️
Yes! So True! Thx Barry
Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us (literally, the rest of the world. I am sending this message from Brazil). I do appreciate it. Love your comments, and reviews. I'm 55 years old, and for some years as a professional bass trombonist and college teacher, have doing recordings. The stuff and information you share is really valuable.
Brazil is on my bucket list!!!!
@@BarryJohnsCome over, we will be more than happy to have you here with us!!
Amen, Barry!
Thank you for teaching me what you know. I love your authenticity and sincerity.
I was basically born in a studio! My dad took my brother and I to rehearsals and recording sessions when we were babies. Pure luck!!
Barry right on Brother feel exactly the same❤ way
Still love your channel and approach, Barry! 🙏🏻
If anyone needs a proof for the value of Barry's words... at least I have learned a lot from this guy. And if you give it a try I am convinced you too get something useful from every single video!
Rare for me to be the first thumbs up .. I love what you said, "suck it up butter cup" ... where are my boot straps 🙂 I do have a question about using DAW and and iPad Pro with an M1 chip... A good friend mentioned Reaper ... ... and that is about where I am stalled... just getting educated about such. What do I need to learn to run the M1 pro as the recording device ... IF I can do it. Small one man band home musician ... pat
I really enjoy your videos, Barry.
Awesomeness ❤
What I want to know Barry is what you're rocking for listening to music, what kind of stereo equipment are you using, etc. Are you a turntable guy or a deck guy?
Been a subscriber for a while now. Will we ever hear something you've recorded? I've searched, but have not been able to find anything...
But have you ever mixed, mastered or produced any project? professional or otherwise? can you link at least one project you have worked on?
Where can we hear some of your recordings?
Telling some what they need to hear.
Spot on Barry, and encouraging! I’ve always said if you want to excel at anything your first requirement is “passion”. And where’s the 1-800 NUMBER? 🤣
quite interesting
Nailed it !!
Acknowledged & Appreciated.
Is that an Audient iD44 back there?
Can you post some of your old studio pic's?
Unfortunately, I’ve not always been great at keeping pictures. I’ve regretted that so many times in my life. My best friend is outstanding at it, he has pictures of us going back to our childhood days. So I have to go look at his pictures to relive them. I wish I’d been better!
I'd like to hear you discuss some ongoing challenges. For me, I am concerned about my ears as I age. Do you think about that? Sometimes I just want to tune out all the horrible noises in my environment (work, in public). I'm starting to think church is too loud. Do you think trying to mix music makes a person less tolerant of harsh sounds, or am I just getting old? Keep up the good work.

How not to buy a car you had for a second, a third time? However it goes, married or not, try to avoid the same mistakes, like raising a third finger to the world while taking off with your flight thinking that a good audio wouldn't reflect the image on the clean window. I don't know. Namastè.
It's all you can do really... otherwise you're just a sales person rather than someone passing on the ability to learn and do
Never be as smart as Barry,s awesome
Yes you will, keep at it!
OK put another way. I am a newbie at recording I research the audience auto gain. I am a drummer that just wants to do tracking in his basement. I do not have a computer. What do you recommend? Everybody says get a Mac I want to be able to record drum tracks and email them back-and-forth, give me some guidelines please
If you were a drummer and you want to record yourself in the basement, what would you use?
I am and am in the middle of trying to setup recording for fun and practice. I got an Avid Studio Interface and a Pro Tools Studio DAW. I got a Yamaha EAD10 as well. That said, I’m beginning to desire mic’ing my kit, so bout a Behringer ADA8200 ADAT to add 8 mic inputs to my Interface. Haven’t gotten the mic kit yet though. Am deciding between a Shure DMK57-52 or Audix DP Plus kit. Hope that helps, but as Barry said, there’s a lot of questions that could change any or all of what I’ve shared. Good luck!
All that said I don’t want to spend more than $3000 total I have the drums I have the mics I do not have the doll computer or interface
OK, then put your money where your mouth is. How do I build a computer so I can record my drums on an audient eight channel interface I want to use pro logic daw and is a Homebuilt one better than just getting a Mac, which is what everybody tells me to do
Well like I said in the video, research how to build a computer, tons of great videos for that. If you want to use Logic, it’s Mac only. A Mac Mini Pro is a good choice, that said, they are due for a revision soon. This would be a good option that will give you 16 mic preamps. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EVO16PreRckBun--audient-evo-16-usb-audio-interface-16-preamp-rackmount-bundle.
Oh, I have links in my video description to Sweetwater, if you use that, I get a tiny percentage…..
@@BarryJohns thank you for your response. That’s exactly what I was looking at having your opinion means a lot thanks again.
