I had the incredible experience of meeting Tony when they released 13, they had the press conference at the hotel where I work, I said to him it was an honour to meet him and had been a fan forever, and that he had been a positive influence on my life, he said thank you and shook my hand, I didn't have a pen on me at the time so I didn't get his autograph, but the memory will stay with me forever, just a down to earth humble, lovely guy, thank you Tony Iommi

Like your wife dies then you go looking for a "replacement" that looks as much like her as possible. that's creepy. @Fragonborn Entertainment I'm glad you think the same, I agree 100%!
@James Young, Dehumanizer is a masterpiece for its time. It's 1992, and the first years of 90's were flooded with great and noisy heavy metal. I remember Anthrax with Only, Sepultura with Territoy, Pantera, and many other bands destroying the heavy metal scenery. Then Sabbath released Dehumanizer, man I still remembering the face of my friends - that were used to grunge rock - when I showed them the Time Machine song. The heaviest album of Black Sabbath indeed. I love this album too!

This man has done so much for Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Rock music, and guitar playing!!!! Tony Iommi is a huge living legend!!! He is the only one that is on every single Black Sabbath album. He is the one that kept Black Sabbath going through all these years. He was there for all the good times and bad times. I love every single Black Sabbath album that has been released that includes the Ozzy Osbourne era, Ronnie James Dio era, Ian Gillian album, Glenn Hughes album, and the Tony Martin era. There are quite a few Black Sabbath albums that does not get the recognition that they deserve such as Born Again, The Seventh Star, and especially The Eternal Idol, The Headless Cross, and TYR. Those albums in my opinion are just as amazing as the Ronnie James Dio era albums and the Ozzy Osbourne era albums especially Born Again and The Headless Cross. No one sounds like Tony Iommi and never will. He is that unique and special when it comes to guitar playing. He is by far the greatest riffmaster ever!! Most of his riffs are iconic and legendary. All members that have been in Black Sabbath are very important to what the band has done. The original four members are the most important, especially Tony Iommi!!! Most people would never have found a way to play guitar if they had the hand accident that Tony did back in the late 60's. Tony was that determined to keep playing and that accident is the reason why his guitar playing is as legendary as it is.

I still remember vividly when Black Sabbath first came out. They were SO heavy and original. I couldn't get enough of them. But like everything else in the pop culture world it loses it's freshness. The first 5 albums are terrific, especially Master of Reality. The Tony Iommi story alone is stuff of legend. Most guys would have given up after an accident like that. Instead he buckled down and invented his own prosthetic finger tips and reinvented his playing style and made musical history. Tony Iommi deserves our admiration for that as well as the music he has given us over the years( decades).

I saw Black Sabbath on their FIRST USA tour as a teen in the 70's.. A band called " Yes" opened for Sabbath .. Sabbath kicked ass..
I'm 65 now and they are STILL my favorite rock band.. My personal favorite is Vol. 4..
( a little trivia) Back in those days if your band was good enough to open up for a top Bill band,. The opening band had to pay 8000 or $10,000 (?) to the headliner.. That's what the "word" was
In 70's dollars, that was A BIG amount.. Is that true?

    The Professor
That's what my guitarist calls Toni. I get it now, the calm way he speaks and play, smooth tender voice when he's talking or evil riffs, he's always very classy. Definitely professor-ish.
With that said, raise ya horns. To all of Sabbath and Dip of course, the One who created it. \m/

I was a young lad when the first Black Sabbath LP came out and me and my friends LOVED it! It was the heaviest shit we had ever heard. I used to read the music trade papers like NME and Melody Maker and Tony Iommi and Sabbath used to get no respect from the 'scene'. Tony was a much underrated guitarist and yet, as you rightly say, he virtually invented a genre of rock music (there were precedents, but not many). He was a real innovator. And he seems quite a humble bloke in spite of his success. I really like that he's basically a 'feel' guitarist, with no musical 'education' and just goes with what feels right, that inspires me. Hats off Tony! I have all my fingers and I wish I was half as creative a guitarist as you are.

Yes he is very relaxed, asks interesting questions, seems genuinely interested in his subject, and does not add too much ego to the mix. He understands that people want to hear Tony, not hoping to be of the same cloth that the subject is made of. By hanging back he is proving he is worthy! great stuff, like Michael Parkinson ('Parky').
